I, JAMES ALEXANDER PARK, Manager of the Perpetual Trustees, Estate, and Agency Company of New Zealand (Limited), do solemnly and sincerely declare—
- That the liability of members is limited.
- That the capital of the company is £106.250, divided into 25,000 shares of £4 5s.
- That the number of shares issued is 25,000.
- That calls to the amount of 7s. 6d. per share have been made, under which the sum of £9,375 has been received.
- That the amount of all moneys received on account of estates under administration during the half-year ending 30th day of April, 1916, is £42,838 10s. 8d.
- That the amount of all moneys paid on account of estates under administration during the half-year ending 30th day of April, 1916, is £37,180 13s. 10d.
- That the amount of the balance held to the credits of estates under administration during the half-year ending 30th day of April, 1916, is £24,351 19s. 5d.
- That the liabilities of the company on the 1st day of May last were debts owing to sundry persons by the company, viz.: On judgment, nil; on specialty, nil; on notes or bills, nil; on simple contracts, £47,051 11s. 10d.; on estimated liabilities, nil.
- That the assets of the company on that date were: Government securities, nil; bills of exchange and promissory notes, nil; other securities, £60,045 6s. 11d.; cash at banker's and on deposit, £14,789 12s. 1d.
And I make this solemn declaration conscientiously believing the same to be true, and by virtue of the provisions of an Act of the General Assembly of New Zealand intituled the Justices of the Peace Act, 1908.

WHAKATANE COUNTY COUNCIL.
SPECIAL RATE AS SECURITY FOR SPECIAL LOAN OF £700 FOR THE WHAKATANE-OPOTIKI INLAND ROAD.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by the Local Bodies' Loans Act, 1913, the Whakatane County Council hereby resolves as follows:—
"That, for the purpose of providing the interest and other charges on a loan of £700, authorized to be raised by the Whakatane County Council, under the above-mentioned Act, for forming and improving a portion of the Whakatane-Opotiki Inland Road, the said Whakatane County Council hereby makes and levies a special rate of one-seventieth of one penny in the pound upon the rateable value of all rateable property of the special-rating area, the whole of the County of Whakatane; and that such special rate shall be an annually recurring rate during the currency of such loan, and be payable in one instalment on the first day of April in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of thirty-six and a half years, or until the loan is fully paid off."
The above special rate was duly made at an ordinary meeting of the Whakatane County Council held in the Council Chambers at Whakatane on the 22nd day of March, 1916.

In the matter of the Public Works Act, 1908, and also of the taking under the said Act by the Gisborne Harbour Board of certain land within the Borough of Gisborne for harbour-works purposes.
NOTICE is hereby given that the Gisborne Harbour Board, under the provisions of the Public Works Act, 1908, intend to take by proclamation the following land, namely: All that piece of land situate within the Borough of Gisborne, containing by admeasurement twenty-eight perches (0 a. 0 r. 28 p.), more or less, being part of the Waikanae lc Block.
By direction of the Gisborne Harbour Board a plan of the land is deposited at the office of the Gisborne Harbour Board at Reads Quay, Gisborne, where the same may be inspected at all reasonable hours.
The works proposed to be executed upon the said land is the establishment of harbour-works in connection with the Gisborne Harbour, and the description of the land is shown on the said plan.
All persons having any objections to the execution of such works or to the taking of such land are hereby required to send such objections in writing to the Gisborne Harbour Board on or before the 14th day of August, 1916.
