That portion of the notice published in the New Zealand Gazette of the 25th November, 1915, relative to the grant of honorary rank to Edmund Harry Colbeck, M.D., F.R.C.P., Arthur Hertz, M.D., and Arthur Vernon Evans is cancelled.

The notification published in the New Zealand Gazette of the 23rd March, 1916, relative to the appointment of Medical Officers to the New Zealand Military Hospital, Walton-on-Thames, England, is cancelled.

New Zealand Medical Corps.

In connection with the establishment of the New Zealand Military Hospital, Walton-on-Thames, England, the following appointments are made:—

Major (temporary) Bernard Myers, M.D. (R.A.M.C.), is attached to the New Zealand Medical Corps, and is granted the temporary rank of Lieutenant-Colonel during the period of the war. Dated 18th March, 1915.

Thomas Mill, M.B., B.S., F.R.C.S., Eng., to be Registrar, and is granted the temporary rank of Major during the period of the war. Dated 21st December, 1915.

Edmund Harry Colbeck, M.D., F.R.C.P., to be temporary Major during the period of the war. Dated 26th October, 1915.

Captain Herbert Donald Robertson, M.B., New Zealand Medical Corps, to be employed with the rank of Captain.

Arthur Hertz, M.D., to be temporary Captain during the period of the war. Dated 26th October, 1915.

Arthur Vernon Evans to be temporary Captain during the period of the war. Dated 26th October, 1915.

Richard Charles Staples-Browne to be temporary Captain during the period of the war. Dated 21st December, 1915.

Norman Howard Maxwell Dalston to be temporary Captain during the period of the war. Dated 21st December, 1915.

George William Matthews to be temporary Lieutenant during the period of the war. Dated 21st December, 1915.

Hector Bruce McKenzie to be temporary 2nd Lieutenant during the period of the war. Dated 21st December, 1915.

John Hoad to be temporary 2nd Lieutenant during the period of the war. Dated 21st December, 1915.

Arrangements for First Election, &c., Mangawara Drainage District.

HIS Excellency the Governor has been pleased to appoint

NORMAN G. GRIBBLE,

of Hamilton, to be the Returning Officer and the person to prepare roll of electors for the purposes of the first election of five members of the Board of Trustees of the Mangawara Drainage District, as constituted under the Land Drainage Act, 1908; also to appoint Tuesday, the 30th day of May, 1916, to be the day, and the Taupiri Hall, Taupiri, to be the place, at which such first election shall be held; also to appoint Tuesday, the 6th day of June, 1916, at 12 o’clock noon, to be the time, and the Taupiri Hall, Taupiri, to be the place, at which the first meeting of the Board of Trustees so elected shall be held.

Drainage Engineer of Waihou, to be the Returning Officer and the person to prepare roll of electors for the purpose of the first election of five members of the Board of Trustees of the Elstow Drainage District, as constituted under the Land Drainage Act, 1908; also to appoint Saturday, the 17th day of June, 1916, to be the day, and the Elstow Schoolhouse to be the place, at which the first election shall be held; also to appoint Monday, the 26th June, 1916, at 7.30 o’clock in the evening, to be the time, and the office of Mr. W. J. Johnson to be the place, at which the first meeting of the Board of Trustees so elected shall be held.

Result of Poll for Proposed Loan.

BOROUGH OF CROMWELL.

Notice of Result of Poll on Proposal to raise a Loan.

PURSUANT to section 12 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, I hereby give notice that at a poll of the ratepayers of the Borough of Cromwell taken on this 2nd day of May, 1916, on the proposal of the Cromwell Borough Council to borrow the sum of £1,500 for the purpose of piping the Firewood Creek water-supply, the number of votes recorded for the proposal was 46, and the number of votes recorded against the proposal was 9.

I therefore declare that the proposal was carried.

GREEN ISLAND CORPORATION.

Result of Poll.

PURSUANT to section 12 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, I hereby give notice that a poll of the ratepayers of the Borough of Green Island was taken on the 11th day of May, 1916, on the proposal of the Green Island Borough Council to borrow the sum of £850 for the purpose (1) of paying to the Dunedin City Council the sum of £550, due to it for installing electric lighting within the Borough of Green Island; and (2) for further installing electric lighting within the said borough by means of the balance or sum of £300.

The number of votes recorded for the proposal was 120. The number of votes recorded against the proposal, 11. Informal, 2.

I therefore declare that the proposal was carried.

PURSUANT to the provisions of the Land for Settlements Act, 1908, and its amendments, I hereby notify that the undermentioned Crown land, being the land known as the Kowhatu Settlement, which has been acquired under the said Acts, is subject to the said Acts as from the 31st March, 1916.
