Result of Poll for Proposed Loan.

THE following notice, received from the Chairman of the County of Makara, is published in accordance with the provisions of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913.

COUNTY OF MAKARA.
Result of Poll.
PURSUANT to section 12 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, I hereby give notice that at a poll of the ratepayers of the No. 3 Special-rating District of the Porirua Riding of County of Makara, taken upon the 12th day of April, 1916, on the proposal of the Makara County Council to borrow the sum of £1,000 for the purposes of re-erecting bridges destroyed by flood, and effecting other extraordinary repairs occasioned by the same flood, throughout the Porirua Riding of the said county, the number of votes recorded for the proposal was 89, and the number of votes recorded against the proposal was 21.
I therefore declare the proposal carried.

NGARUAWAHIA TOWN BOARD.
IN pursuance of section 12 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, I hereby give notice that a poll of the ratepayers of the Ngaruawahia Town District was taken on the 2nd day of October, 1915, upon the proposal to borrow the sum of £2,500 for the purpose of duplicating the plant for generating electricity for street and house lighting in the Ngaruawahia Town District.
The number of votes received for the proposal was 69. The number of votes received against the proposal was 19.
I therefore declare the proposal is carried.

Result of Election of a Member of the Ohakune Fire Board by Fire-insurance Companies.

THE following result of the election of a member of the Ohakune Fire Board by fire-insurance companies has been reported to the Minister of Internal Affairs, and is notified in accordance with the rules made under the Fire Brigades Act, 1908.

The Shops and Offices Act, 1908.—Amended Notice specifying Combined District of Auckland.
PURSUANT to the provisions of section 10 of the Shops and Offices Act, 1908, I, William Ferguson Massey, Minister of Labour, do hereby specify that the Combined District of Auckland comprises the City of Auckland, the Boroughs of Birkenhead, Devonport, Mount Albert, Mount Eden, Newmarket, Northcote, Onehunga, and Takapuna, and the Town Districts of Ellerslie and New Lynn.

Notice fixing the Closing-hours of Chemists’ Shops in the Borough of Dannevirke, under the Shops and Offices Act.
WHEREAS a requisition in writing, signed by a majority of the occupiers of all the chemists’ shops within the Borough of Dannevirke has been forwarded to me, desiring that all such shops in the district shall be closed in the evening of working-days as follows: Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays at 6 p.m.; Wednesdays, 12 noon, open from 7 to 8 p.m.; Saturdays, 10 p.m.; Sundays, open from 7 p.m. to 8.30 p.m.:
And whereas the Dannevirke Borough Council has certified that the signatories to such requisition represent a majority of the occupiers of chemists’ shops within the Borough of Dannevirke:
Now, therefore, I, William Ferguson Massey, Minister of Labour, in pursuance of section 25 of the Shops and Offices Act, 1908, do hereby direct that from and after the 8th day of May, 1916, all chemists’ shops in the Borough of Dannevirke shall be closed as follows: On Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays at 6 p.m.; on Saturdays at 10 p.m., subject to the closing at not later than 1 p.m. for the statutory half-holiday in each week: Provided, however, that on the statutory half-holiday chemists’ shops may reopen from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. only for the supply of medicines and surgical appliances.
The notice gazetted on the 28th September, 1911, is hereby cancelled.

Ashburton Borough Council’s Abattoir made available for the Purposes of the Town Boards of Hampstead and Tinwald.—Notice No. 1830.
IN pursuance of section 15, paragraph (f), of the Slaughtering and Inspection Act, 1908, it is hereby notified that the abattoir authorized to be established by the Ashburton Borough Council for the district comprising the Borough of Ashburton has, by agreement between the said Borough Council and the Hampstead and Tinwald Town Boards, been made available for the purposes of the Hampstead and Tinwald Town Districts; and that the Ashburton Borough Council is the controlling authority of the said abattoir.

Ashburton Borough Council’s Abattoir made available for the Purposes of Part of Ashburton County.—Notice No. 1831.
IN pursuance of section 16 of the Slaughtering and Inspection Act, 1908, it is hereby notified that the abattoir authorized to be established by the Ashburton Borough Council for the district of the Borough of Ashburton has been made available for the purposes of the district comprising part of the Ashburton County described in the Schedule hereto, and that the Ashburton Borough Council is the controlling authority of the said abattoir.
SCHEDULE.
ALL that area in the Canterbury Land District bounded towards the west by the north branch of the Ashburton River from the Borough of Ashburton to Rural Section 20864, and along the western boundary of that section for about thirty chains; thence towards the north-west by a right line to the northernmost corner of Rural Section 10091; thence towards the north-east by the road forming the north-eastern boundaries of Rural Sections 10091, 10092, and 4109 to the railway-line; thence towards the south-east by the railway-line to the Borough of Ashburton; and towards the south west and again towards the south-east by that borough to the north branch of the Ashburton River, the place of commencement.
