Allocating Land reserved and taken for a Railway to the
Purposes of a Road in the Picton Road District.
[L.S.] LIVERPOOL, Governor.
A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS the land described in the Schedule hereto
forms part of land taken for the purposes of the
Picton-Hurunui Railway, and it is considered desirable to
allocate such land to the purposes of a road:
And whereas it has been certified by the Minister of Rail-
ways that such land is not required for railway purposes:
And whereas such land is situated in the Road District of
Picton, the local authority of which has assented to the
issue of this Proclamation:
And whereas His Excellency the Governor is of opinion
that the said local authority can conveniently construct and
maintain the said road:
Now, therefore, I, Arthur William de Brito Savile, Earl
of Liverpool, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand,
in pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities
vested in me by section one hundred and ninety-seven of
the Public Works Act, 1908, and of every other power and
authority in anywise enabling me in this behalf, do hereby
proclaim and declare that the land described in the Schedule
hereto shall, upon the publication hereof in the New Zealand
Gazette, become a road, and that the said road shall be
under the control of the Picton Road Board, and shall be
maintained by the said Board in like manner as other public
highways are controlled and maintained by the said Board.
SCHEDULE.
APPROXIMATE areas of the pieces of land: 1 acre 1 rood 16
perches and 1 acre 3 roods 31 perches.
Portions of railway reserve (S.O.R. 310), Block III, Cloudy
Bay Survey District, Picton Road District.
In the Marlborough Land District; as the same are more
particularly delineated on the plan marked W.R. 23525,
deposited in the office of the Minister of Railways at
Wellington, in the Wellington Provincial District, and
thereon coloured yellow and blue.
Given under the hand of His Excellency the Right
Honourable Arthur William de Brito Savile,
Earl of Liverpool, Knight Grand Cross of the
Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and
Saint George, Member of the Royal Victorian
Order, Governor and Commander-in-Chief in
and over His Majesty’s Dominion of New Zea-
land and its Dependencies; and issued under
the Seal of the said Dominion, at the Govern-
ment House at Wellington, this fourteenth day
of April, in the year of our Lord one thousand
nine hundred and sixteen.

Constitution of a Drainage Area under the Swamp Drainage
Act, 1915.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government Buildings at Wellington, this seventh
day of March, 1916.
Present:
THE RIGHT HONOURABLE W. F. MASSEY, P.C., PRESIDING
IN COUNCIL.
WHEREAS section two of the Swamp Drainage Act,
1915, enacts that the Governor may from time to
time, by Order in Council gazetted, declare any area of land
described in the Order to be a drainage area to which the said
Act applies: And whereas it is deemed expedient to declare
the area of land described in the Schedule hereto to be a
drainage area within the meaning of the said Act:
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the Do-
minion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the
power and authority contained in section two of the Swamp
Drainage Act, 1915, and acting by and with the advice and
consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth
hereby constitute and declare the area described in the
Schedule hereto to be a drainage area to which the said Act
shall apply, and to be called by the name of the “Poukawa
Drainage Area.”
SCHEDULE.
POUKAWA DRAINAGE AREA.
ALL that area in the Hawke’s Bay Land District bounded
towards the north-west generally by main Waipawa-Napier
Road[from northernmost corner of Lot 12, D.P. 1323, to
Whakawiringa Block; thence along south-eastern boundary
of said block to angle called Te Kauru te Mapara; thence
by a right line running due south to a public road; thence by
said road to railway reserve; thence by a right line due east
to Pukekura West Block; thence by northern boundary of
college land to its north-eastern corner; thence by a right
line to southernmost corner of Pukekura East Block; thence
by south-eastern and eastern boundaries of said block to
north-east corner of Subdivision 8 of said block; thence by
a right line to southernmost corner of Lot 3, D.P. 2796;
thence by south-western boundary of said Lot 3 to new road;
thence by new road traversing Lots 3, 2, and 1, D.P. 2796,
to north-eastern boundary of said Lot 1; thence north-
westerly by said boundary for 25 chains; thence by a right
line passing through southernmost corner of Lot 6, D.P. 2718,
to public road; thence by a right line to south-western corner
of Lot 1, D.P. 1225; thence by a right line to southernmost
corner of Lot 15, D.P. 274; thence by public road to eastern-
most corner of said lot; thence by public road to northern-
most corner of Lot 12, D.P. 274; thence by public road to
northernmost corner of Lot 4, D.P. 274; thence by public
road to point of commencement. As the same is more
particularly delineated on plan marked L. and S. 38711,
deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands and
Survey, at Wellington, and thereon edged red.

Directing Sale of Railway Land under the Public Works
Act, 1908.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House at Wellington, this seventeenth
day of April, 1916.
Present:
HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.
WHEREAS by the thirtieth section of the Public Works
Act, 1908 (hereinafter termed “the said Act”), it
is enacted that if it is found that any land held, taken,
purchased, or acquired at any time under this or any other
Act or Provincial Ordinance, or otherwise howsoever, for any
public work is not required for such public work the
Governor may, by Order in Council publicly notified and
gazetted, cause the same to be sold under the conditions set
forth in the said Act:
And whereas the parcel of land described in the Schedule
hereto has been, inter alia, acquired for the purposes of the
Invercargill-Kingston Railway by a conveyance dated the
third day of February, one thousand eight hundred and
seventy-one, and duly registered in the office of the Registrar
of Deeds at Invercargill as Number 7844:
And whereas the said parcel of land is not now required
for the purposes of the said Invercargill-Kingston Railway,
and the Minister of Railways has recommended that this
Order in Council should be issued directing such parcel of
land to be sold:
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the
Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of
the powers and authorities conferred by the said Act, and
acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive
Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby order and direct
the sale of the land described in the Schedule hereto.
SCHEDULE.
APPROXIMATE area of the piece of land: 1 rood 30·92 perches.
Portion of railway reserve, Block I, Invercargill Hundred,
Borough of Invercargill.
In the Southland Land District; as the same is more
particularly delineated on the plan marked W.R. 23599,
deposited in the office of the Minister of Railways at
Wellington, in the Wellington Provincial District, and
thereon bordered green.

Amending Notice under Animals Protection Act.—Otago
Acclimatization District.
LIVERPOOL, Governor.
WHEREAS it is expedient to amend, in manner herein-
after provided, the notification made under the
Animals Protection Act, 1908, dated the seventh day of
April, one thousand nine hundred and sixteen, and pub-
lished in the New Zealand Gazette of the twelfth day of the
