NEW SOUTH WALES.
NEWCASTLE HARBOUR ENTRANCE.—NIGHT TIDE-SIGNALS.
Notice is hereby given that on and after the 1st day of March, 1916, the Tide and State of Bar Signals, which indicate the actual depth of water at the time in the Fairway Entrance Channel, Newcastle Harbour, will be shown from sunset to sunrise by means of electric light exhibited on the southern signal-mast on Nobby’s, Newcastle, instead of from the mast at the pilot-station.
The same coloured lights will be used as heretofore to indicate the depths of water on the bar.
The lights will be visible from seaward and up the harbour for a distance of (4) four miles on a clear night.
Should any accident occur to prevent the exhibition of the electric-light signals, the lights hitherto shown from the pilot-station will be exhibited, and will continue to be used until the electric-light signals are again shown.
By day the Tide and State of Bar Signals will be shown from the flagstaff at the pilot-station as hitherto.
The day Bar Signals will also be shown at the head of the south mast, Nobby’s.
