of the City of Christchurch taken on the 6th day of December, 1916, on the proposal of the Christchurch City Council to borrow the sum of £60,000 for the purpose of the further distribution and supply of electricity from the Government generating-station at Lake Coleridge, and the purchase and erection of all plant, materials, and things necessary and incidental thereto, the number of votes recorded for the proposal was 1,373, and the number of votes recorded against the proposal was 667; and I declare the proposal to be carried.

Notice respecting Proposed Alteration of Boundaries of the Borough of Richmond.

Wellington, 7th December, 1916.

PURSUANT to section 14 of the Municipal Corporations Amendment Act, 1913, it is hereby notified that a petition, in accordance with regulations, signed by not less than one-fourth of the electors of the area described in the Schedule hereto, being part of the County of Waimea, has been presented to His Excellency the Governor, praying that the said area may be excluded from the said county and included in the Borough of Richmond. All persons affected are hereby called upon to lodge any written objections to or petitions against the proposed alteration within one month from the first publication of this notice. Such objections or petitions are to be addressed and forwarded to the Minister of Internal Affairs, Wellington.


SCHEDULE.

AREA PROPOSED TO BE INCLUDED IN THE BOROUGH OF RICHMOND.

ALL that area in the Nelson Land District, situated in Block VII, Waimea Survey District. Bounded towards the north-west and north-east by the present boundary of the Borough of Richmond from the southernmost corner of Section 32 to the southernmost corner of Section 88; thence towards the south-east by a line across a road and the south-eastern boundary of the eastern part of Section 85, and that boundary produced to the road forming the south-western boundaries of Sections 32 and 64; and towards the south-west by the north-eastern side of that road to the southernmost corner of Section 32, the place of commencement.

HIS Excellency the Governor has, in pursuance of section 48 (a) of the Land Act, 1908, approved of meetings of the Auckland Land Board being held at the District Lands and Survey Office, Auckland, at 10 o’clock a.m. on Wednesday, 31st January, 28th February, 28th March, 25th April, 30th May, 27th June, 25th July, 29th August, 26th September, 31st October, 28th November, and 19th December during the year 1917.

Appointing Saturday as the Statutory Closing-day in the Separate District of the Town District of Havelock.

WHEREAS by section 17 of the Shops and Offices Act, 1908, it is enacted that the result of every poll taken in any separate or combined district under the authority of that section shall be notified to the Minister of Labour in the manner therein provided, and the Minister shall thereupon appoint the day determined by the result of such poll as the closing-day for that district: And whereas the Town Clerk of the Town District of Havelock has notified me that the result of the poll taken in the separate district of the Town District of Havelock is in favour of Saturday as the statutory closing-day in that separate district:

Now, therefore, in exercise of the powers in this behalf conferred on me by the said section 17, I, William Herbert Herries, Minister of Labour, do hereby appoint Saturday as the statutory closing-day in the separate district of the Town District of Havelock.

Notice of Intention to take Land in Block V, Waiawa Survey District, for Road Purposes.

NOTICE is hereby given that it is proposed, under the provisions of the Public Works Act, 1908, to execute a certain public work—to wit, the construction of a road in Block V, Waiawa Survey District; and for the purposes of such public work the land described in the Schedule hereto is required to be taken. And notice is hereby further given that the plan of the land so required to be taken is deposited in the post-office at Opotiki, and is there open for inspection; and that all persons affected by the execution of the said public work or by the taking of the said land should, if they have any well-grounded objections to the execution of the said public work or to the taking of such land, set forth the same in writing, and send such writing, within forty days from the first publication of this notice, to the Minister of Public Works at Wellington.

Bonus on Mineral Oil produced in New Zealand.

Wellington, 28th November, 1916.

NOTICE is hereby given that the notice dated the 21st day of September, 1910 (hereinafter referred to as “the said notice”), appearing in the New Zealand Gazette of the 22nd day of December, 1910, page 4302, stating the terms upon which a bonus of £10,000 will be paid for the production of mineral oil, is hereby amended as follows:—

  1. Clause (d) of the said notice is revoked, and in lieu thereof the following clause is substituted,—

(d.) (i.) The sum of £1,250 to be paid to the person or company who first produces by his or its own refining plant 250,000 gallons of refined mineral oil.

(ii.) The sum of £625 to be paid to the person or company who first produces by his or its own refining plant 375,000 gallons of refined mineral oil.

(iii.) The sum of £625 to be paid to the person or company who first produces by his or its own refining plant 500,000 gallons of mineral oil.

  1. The date within which the claim to the aforesaid bonuses must be made, and the conditions duly fulfilled, as required by paragraph (3) of the said notice, is hereby extended to the 31st December, 1917.
