NOTICE is hereby given that Mr. A. P. GREENFIELD has retired from the firm of “Greenfield, Hicks, & Company,” as from the 30th day of September, 1916, and the said business will in future be carried on by G. J. HICKS and WILLIAM SMITH on their own account, under the style of “G. J. Hicks & Company.”
Messrs. G. J. Hicks & Co. will collect all moneys due to the late firm, and pay all liabilities owing by the late firm.

WAIROA COUNTY COUNCIL.
RESOLUTION STRIKING SPECIAL RATE.—WAIROA COUNTY COUNCIL. ROADING LOAN OF £10,000, 1916.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, and of all other powers it in that behalf enabling, the Wairoa County Council hereby resolves as follows :—
That, for the purpose of providing the interest and other charges on a loan of ten thousand pounds (£10,000), authorized to be raised by the Wairoa County Council, under the above-mentioned Act, for the purposes set out hereunder, the amount to be spent on each such purpose being set out opposite thereto,—
(a.) Metalling Wairoa–Nuhaka Road .. .. 1,500
(b.) Metalling Mangapoike Road .. .. 500
(c.) Metalling Nuhaka–Opoutama Road .. .. 500
(d.) Metalling Nuhaka–Morere Road .. .. 800
(e.) Metalling Morere – County Boundary Road .. 450
(f.) Metalling Wairoa–Waihua Road .. .. 1,050
(g.) Metalling Waikaremoana Road .. .. 500
(h.) Metalling Frasertown – County Boundary Road 1,050

the said Wairoa County Council hereby makes and levies a special rate of one-twelfth of a penny in the pound sterling upon the rateable value (on the basis of the capital value) of all rateable property in the Mahia and Waikaremoana Ridings of the county; and that such special rate shall be an annually recurring rate during the currency of such loan, and be payable yearly on the 1st day of August in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of thirty-six and one-half (36½) years, or until the loan is fully paid off.
It is hereby certified that the foregoing resolution was submitted and duly passed at a meting of the Wairoa County Council held on Friday, the 10th day of November, 1916.

WAIKOHU COUNTY COUNCIL.
RESOLUTION MAKING A SPECIAL RATE, MADE ON 22ND DAY OF NOVEMBER, 1916.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, the Waikohu County Council hereby resolves as follows :—
That, for the purpose of providing the interest and other charges on a loan of £600, authorized to be raised by the Waikohu County Council, under the above-mentioned Act, for erecting a bridge over the Waingaromia River, the said Waikohu County Council hereby makes and levies a special rate of 21/32nds of a penny in the pound upon the rateable value of all rateable property of the Palmer’s Bridge Special-rating Area, comprising Lot 13, Pakake-a-whirikoka; 15, 17, 19, Waingaromia C; Waingaromia A; part 4, 5, Waingaromia; 5B, 5A, 1A, 1B, 6, 7A, Hauomatuku; Lot 12, part Waingaromia A; Lots 14, 20, Waingaromia 5. And that such special rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of such loan, and be payable yearly on the 1st day of July in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of 36½ years, or until the loan is fully paid off.

RESOLUTION MAKING A SPECIAL RATE, MADE ON 22ND DAY OF NOVEMBER, 1916.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, the Waikohu County Council hereby resolves as follows :—
That, for the purpose of providing the interest and other charges on a loan of £200, authorized to be raised by the Waikohu County Council, under the above-mentioned Act, for surveying and completing the Mangahamia Road, the said Waikohu County Council hereby makes and levies a special rate of 1/5 of a penny in the pound upon the rateable value of all rateable property of the Mangahamia No. 2 Special-rating Area, comprising part Mangatu No. 1 Block, 9,880 acres; Sections 20 and part 21, Mangatu I, 3,089 acres. And that such special rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of such loan, and be payable yearly on the first day of July in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of 36½ years, or until the loan is fully paid off.

That, for the purpose of providing the interest and other charges on a loan of £160, authorized to be raised by the Waikohu County Council, under the above-mentioned Act, for completing the Makaretu Deviation on the Otoko–Makaretu Road, the said Waikohu County Council hereby makes and levies a special rate of 1/5 of a penny in the pound upon the rateable value of all rateable property of the Makaretu Special-rating Area, comprising Sections 8, 9, 10, 11, 13, and 14 of Block III; Section 4 of Block VI; and Sections 3, 4, and 6 of Block VII: all in Ngatapa Survey District. And that such special rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of such loan, and be payable yearly on the first day of July in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of 36½ years, or until the loan is fully paid off.
