Opening Lands in Southland Land District for Sale or Selection.
LIVERPOOL, Governor.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the Land Act, 1908, I, Arthur William de Brito Savile, Earl of Liverpool, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, having received the report of the Under-Secretary in this behalf, as provided by section one hundred and fifty-four of the said Act, do hereby declare that the lands described in the Schedule hereto shall be open for sale or selection on Monday, the twentieth day of November, one thousand nine hundred and sixteen; and also that the lands mentioned in the said Schedule may, at the option of the applicant, be purchased for cash, or be selected for occupation with right of purchase, or on renewable lease; and I do hereby also fix the prices at which the said lands shall be sold, occupied, or leased, as mentioned in the said Schedule hereto, and do declare that the said lands shall be sold, occupied, or leased under and subject to the provisions of the Land Act, 1908.
SCHEDULE.
SOUTHLAND LAND DISTRICT.
SECOND-CLASS LAND.
Wallace County.—Waiau Survey District.
SECTION 123, Block I: Area, 56 acres 3 roods 12 perches. Capital value, £40. Occupation with right of purchase: Half-yearly rent, £1. Renewable lease: Half-yearly rent, 16s.
Weighted with £12 8s., valuation for fencing.
Soil of poor light nature. Sufficient timber on section for fencing purposes. Situated fourteen miles from Tuatapere Railway-station, post-office, and store, six miles and a half from Clifden Post-office and store, and two miles from Otahu School. Access by formed road.
Southland County.—Otara Survey District.
Section 33, Block VI: Area, 154 acres 3 roods. Capital value, £195. Occupation with right of purchase: Half-yearly rent, £4 17s. 6d. Renewable lease: Half-yearly rent, £3 18s.
Weighted with £7 4s., valuation for fencing.
Fair quality section; good soil, on clay subsoil; undulating land; well watered. Situated three miles and a half from Tokonui Railway-station—two miles of road gravelled, balance formed.
The milling-timber has been sold to Mr. R. Bauchop, and the lease or license will be subject to his timber rights until cancelled by the Land Board.
Southland County.—Invercargill Hundred.
Sections 27, 28, 43, and 44, Block XXIII: Area, 87 acres 1 rood 18 perches. Capital value, £130. Occupation with right of purchase: Half-yearly rent, £3 5s. Renewable lease: Half-yearly rent, £2 12s.*
Weighted with £24, valuation for improvements.
Level land, worked-out bush area, fire-swept, ring fenced; parts of northern portion surface sown. Access by formed roads, a mile and a half from Waimatua Station, post-office, and store; four miles from Tisbury Dairy Factory and school.
THIRD-CLASS LAND.
Southland County.—Invercargill Hundred.
Sections 36 and 37, Block X: Area, 161 acres 1 rood 4 perches. Capital value, £40. Occupation with right of purchase: Half-yearly rent, £1. Renewable lease: Half-yearly rent, 16s.
Inferior land; low-lying, and partly covered with manuka scrub; soil peaty. Situated south side Makarewa River, from thirteen to fifteen miles from Invercargill, and five miles and a half from Makarewa Post-office. Access by formed road.
As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this fifteenth day of September, one thousand nine hundred and sixteen.

Opening National Endowment Land in Southland Land District for Selection.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the Land Act, 1908, I, Arthur William de Brito Savile, Earl of Liverpool, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby declare that the national endowment land described in the Schedule hereto shall be open for selection on renewable lease on Monday, the twentieth day of November, one thousand nine hundred and sixteen, at the rental mentioned in the said Schedule; and I do also declare that the said land shall be leased under and subject to the provisions of the said Act.
SCHEDULE.
SOUTHLAND LAND DISTRICT.—SOUTHLAND COUNTY.—INVERCARGILL HUNDRED.
First-class Land.—National Endowment.
SECTIONS 76 and 77, Block XXII: Area, 39 acres 2 roods 22 perches; capital value, £120; half-yearly rent, £2 8s. Weighted with £20, valuation for fencing and draining.
Fair quality land, requires draining. Partly covered with flax, Yorkshire fog, swamp grass, and a little manuka. Situated two miles from Tisbury Railway-station, post-office, school, store, and dairy factory by gravelled road; except last forty chains, which are formed only.

Opening Settlement Land in Canterbury Land District for Selection.
LIVERPOOL, Governor.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the Land Act, 1908, and the Land for Settlements Act, 1908, and amendments, I, Arthur William de Brito Savile, Earl of Liverpool, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby declare that the settlement land described in the Schedule hereto shall be open for selection on renewable lease on Wednesday, the first day of November, one thousand nine hundred and sixteen, at the rental mentioned in the said Schedule; and I do also declare that the said land shall be leased under and subject to the provisions of the said Acts.
SCHEDULE.
CANTERBURY LAND DISTRICT.—WAIMATE COUNTY.—OTAIO SURVEY DISTRICT.—TIMAUNGA SETTLEMENT.
First-class Land.
SECTION 15, Block V: Area, 300 acres; capital value, £4,893; half-yearly rental, £110 1s. 10d.; interest and sinking fund, £43 16s. 2d.*
*Interest and sinking fund on buildings valued at £1,123 6s. 7d., payable in cash, or in twenty-one years by half-yearly instalments of £43 16s. 2d. Total half-yearly payment, £153 18s.
Weighted with £36, valuation for fencing.
Altitude, 530 ft. to 1,030 ft. All in English grass, excepting a garden, orchard, and 15 acres in tussock; hilly faces rather steep, but excellent limestone soil; well watered by springs and small creeks. Situated eighteen miles and a half from Timaru by well-formed road. Improvements which are included in price of section consist of about 277 chains of fencing, valued at £93 10s. The improvements not included in price of section, but which will have to be paid for separately, consist of a quite new dwellinghouse, built of wood, with tile roof, lined with plaster and wood, all well finished, containing six bedrooms, drawing-room, kitchen, scullery, bathroom, dairy, wash-house, coal-house, two storerooms, cupboards, &c., veranda, hot and cold water service, bells, and pipes laid for acetylene gas, valued at £1,123 6s. 7d.; much below cost price.

WHEREAS by section five of the Education Reserves Amendment Act, 1911, it is enacted that the Governor may, on the recommendation of the Land Board of the district in which are situated any reserves or endowments vested in the Crown by or in pursuance of section two of the Education Reserves Amendment Act, 1910, set apart as sites
