Retention of Title of “Honourable.”

MY LORD, — With reference to your Excellency’s despatch No. 151, of the 14th August, I have the honour to inform you that His Majesty the King has been pleased to approve of the retention of the title of “Honourable” by Mr. Robert Heaton Rhodes, who has served for more than three years as a member of the Executive Council of New Zealand.

Approval of Fees for Licensing of Vehicles fixed by By-law, Mangonui County Council.

IT is hereby notified, in accordance with section 107 of the Counties Act, 1908, that so much of the by-law made by the Mangonui County Council and sealed on the 1st day of November, 1915, as appoints the several sums to be paid to the Mangonui County Funds for the licensing of vehicles has this day been approved by His Excellency the Governor.

Notice respecting Proposed Alteration of Boundaries of Borough of Gore.

Wellington, 10th November, 1915.

PURSUANT to section 14 of the Municipal Corporations Amendment Act, 1913, it is hereby notified that a petition, in accordance with regulations, signed by not less than one-fourth of the electors of the area described in the Schedule hereto, being part of the County of Southland, has been presented to His Excellency the Governor, praying that the said area may be excluded from the said county and included in the Borough of Gore. All persons affected are hereby called upon to lodge any written objections to or petitions against the proposed alteration within one month from the first publication of this notice. Such objections or petitions are to be addressed and forwarded to the Minister of Internal Affairs, Wellington.

SCHEDULE.

AREA PROPOSED TO BE INCLUDED IN THE BOROUGH OF GORE.

ALL that area in the Southland Land District, being Section 313 and parts of Sections 58, 123, and 137, Hokonui District. Bounded by a line commencing at a point on the western side of Broughton Street, being the western boundary of the Borough of Gore at the north-eastern corner of Lot 10 on plan No. 70, deposited in the office of the District Land Registrar at Invercargill; thence along the western side of Broughton Street to the south-eastern corner of Lot 31, Block II, on plan No. 87, deposited as aforesaid; thence along the northern side of the road forming the southern boundaries of Lots 31, 30, 29, 28, 3, 2, and 1, Block II, on plan No. 87 aforesaid, to the Charlton Stream; thence along that stream to a point in line with the north-western boundary of Lot 1 aforesaid; thence to and along said boundary and the north-western boundary of Lot 4, Block II, on plan No. 87 aforesaid, across a road, along the north-western boundary of Lot 6 on plan 70 deposited as aforesaid, along the southern and eastern boundaries of Lot 8, and along the southern side of the road forming the northern boundary of Lot 10, Block II, to Broughton Street, the place of commencement.

Authorizing the Laying-off of Haereawatea, Rata, Orere, Matai, Manene, Raratuna, Kairere, Waihou, and Te Angi Streets, and Raupoti and Oparia Roads, in the Town of Turua, of a Width of not less than 66 ft.

IN pursuance of the power and authority conferred upon me by section 15 of the Land Act, 1908, I hereby authorize the laying-off of Haereawatea, Rata, Orere, Matai, Manene, Raratuna, Kairere, Waihou, and Te Angi Streets, and Raupoti and Oparia Roads, in the Town of Turua, Auckland Land District, of a width of not less than 66 ft. instead of 99 ft.

Notice fixing the Closing-hours of Watchmakers and Jewellers’ Shops in the Borough of Stratford, under the Shops and Offices Act.

WHEREAS a requisition in writing, signed by a majority of the occupiers of all the watchmakers and jewellers’ shops in the Borough of Stratford, has been forwarded to me, desiring that all such shops in the borough shall be closed in the evening of working-days as follows: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, 5.30 p.m. (with the exception of Christmas week—viz., from 24th to 31st December, inclusive); Saturday, and from 17th to 23rd December inclusive, 9 p.m.; from 24th to 31st December, 11 p.m.: And whereas the Stratford Borough Council has certified that the signatures to such requisition represent a majority of the watchmakers and jewellers doing business in the Borough of Stratford:

Now, therefore, I, William Ferguson Massey, Minister of Labour, in pursuance of section 25 of the Shops and Offices Act, 1908, do hereby direct that from and after the 15th day of November, 1915, all watchmakers and jewellers’ shops in the Borough of Stratford shall be closed in accordance with such requisition.

Notice under Section 3 of the Shops and Offices Amendment Act, 1915, exempting a Specified Shop from the Terms of a Requisition fixing the Closing-hours of Chemists and Druggists’ Shops in the City of Christchurch.

WHEREAS a requisition in writing, signed by a majority of the occupiers of all the chemists and druggists’ shops in the City of Christchurch, has been forwarded to me, desiring that the shop described below shall be exempted from the requisition now in force, pursuant to notice dated 27th April, 1915, and gazetted on 29th idem, but for the purpose only of the sale of medicines and surgical appliances that are urgently needed:

And whereas the Christchurch City Council has certified that the signatures to such requisition represent a majority of the occupiers of all the chemists and druggists’ shops in the City of Christchurch:

And whereas I, William Ferguson Massey, Minister of Labour, am satisfied that all the occupiers of the chemists and druggists’ shops in the City of Christchurch affected by section 3 of the Shops and Offices Amendment Act, 1915, have been afforded an equal right to share in the profits of the business carried on by such specified shop:

Now, therefore, in pursuance of section 3 of the said Act, I do hereby direct that from and after Monday, the 22nd day of November, 1915, the shop described below shall be exempted
