all rateable property in the said borough; and the provision for the repayment of the loan is a sinking fund of £2 10s. per centum per annum on the amount thereof, or such greater or lesser amount as may be required and may be allowed by law.
(d.) It is proposed to pay out of the loan the cost of raising and the interest for the first year.
Whereas on the 1st day of September, 1915, the above proposal to raise a special loan under the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, was submitted by the Timaru Borough Council to a poll of the ratepayers of the Borough of Timaru: And whereas on the 3rd day of September, 1915, we did declare that the voting at the said poll to be as follows—For the proposal, 572 votes; against the proposal, 575 votes; informal, 10; and we did also declare the said proposal to be lost: And whereas at the scrutiny of the rolls used at the said poll it was ascertained that eighteen persons voted who were not qualified to vote: And whereas John Paterson Newman and others, under the provisions of section 45 of the Local Elections and Polls Act, 1908, filed a petition to the Stipendiary Magistrate at Timaru praying that it might be determined that the said proposal was carried and not rejected: And whereas the Magistrate sitting at Timaru on the 20th instant directed a recount and scrutiny of all voting-papers used at the said poll, and as the result of such recount and scrutiny did on the 23rd day of September, 1915, adjudge the voting on the said proposal to be as follows—For the proposal, 567; against the proposal, 560; informal, 37; and did adjudge the said proposal to be carried:
Now, therefore, we hereby publicly declare and do hereby give public notice that the voting at such poll resulted as follows: For the proposal, 567; against the proposal, 560; informal, 37.
And we declare the said proposal to be carried.

Notice respecting Proposed Alteration of Boundaries of Borough of Port Chalmers.

Department of Internal Affairs,
Wellington, 24th September, 1915.

PURSUANT to section 14 of the Municipal Corporations Amendment Act, 1913, it is hereby notified that a petition, in accordance with regulations, signed by not less than one-fourth of the electors of the area described in the Schedule hereto, being part of the County or Waikouaiti, has been presented to His Excellency the Governor praying that the said area may be excluded from the said county and included in the Borough of Port Chalmers. All persons affected are hereby called upon to lodge any written objections to or petitions against the proposed alteration within one month from the first publication of this notice. Such objections or petitions are to be addressed and forwarded to the Minister of Internal Affairs, Wellington.

SCHEDULE.

AREA PROPOSED TO BE INCLUDED IN THE BOROUGH OF PORT CHALMERS.

ALL that area in the Otago Land District, bounded by a line commencing at a point on high-water mark of Otago Harbour at the easternmost corner of Section No. 1, Block I, Lower Harbour West Survey District; thence along the south-western side of the road forming the south-western boundary of Section No. 2, Block I aforesaid, and along the south-eastern side of the road forming the south-eastern boundary of Sections Nos. 40, 39, and 38, Block VI, North Harbour and Blueskin Survey District, across that road, and along the north-eastern side of the road forming the south-western boundaries of Sections Nos. 38, 37, 36, and 35, Block VI aforesaid, to the westernmost corner of the said Section No. 35; along the north-western boundary of that section and of Section No. 39, and along the southern side of the road forming the southern boundary of Section No. 42, Block VI aforesaid, across a road, and along its eastern side to the road intersecting Section No. 6, Block I, Lower Harbour West Survey District; along the southern side of that road and its production to high-water mark of Otago Harbour, and thence along high-water mark to the easternmost corner of Section No. 1, Block I aforesaid, the place of commencement.

Authorizing the Laying-off of Lewin Street, in the Town of Rosebank Extension No. 3, of a Width of not less than 66 ft.

IN pursuance of the power and authority conferred upon me by section 15 of the Land Act, 1908, I hereby authorize the laying-off of Lewin Street, in the Town of Rosebank Extension No. 3, Otago Land District, of a width of not less than 66 ft. instead of 99 ft.

Notice of Cancellation of the Notice fixing the Closing-hours of Fishmongers’ Shops in the City of Christchurch under the Shops and Offices Act.

WHEREAS a requisition in writing, signed by a majority of the occupiers of all the fish-shops and a majority of the fish-hawkers in the City of Christchurch, has been forwarded to me, desiring that the notice gazetted on the 26th day of November, 1914, fixing the closing-hours of all fishmongers’ shops in the City of Christchurch shall be cancelled:
And whereas the Christchurch City Council has certified that the signatures to such requisition represent a majority of the occupiers of all the fish-shops and a majority of the fish-hawkers in the City of Christchurch:
Now, therefore, I, William Ferguson Massey, Minister of Labour, in pursuance of section 25 of the Shops and Offices Act, 1908, do hereby direct that from and after the 4th day of October, 1915, the said notice shall be cancelled accordingly.
