And notice is hereby further given that the plan of the land so required to be taken is deposited in the post-office at Te Pohue, and is there open for inspection; and that all persons affected by the execution of the said public work or by the taking of the said land should, if they have any well-grounded objections to the execution of the said public work or to the taking of such land, set forth the same in writing, and send such writing, within forty days from the first publication of this notice, to the Minister of Public Works at Wellington.

Amending Rules for the Examination of Masters and Mates.
Marine Department,

WHEREAS by Warrant dated the 29th day of July, 1910, and published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 74, of the 2nd day of the following month, rules were made governing the examination of candidates for certificates of competency as masters and mates: And whereas by Warrant dated the 4th day of May, 1914, and published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 47, of the 7th day of the same month, rules were made amending the said rules of the 29th day of July, 1910: And whereas it is desired to further amend the said rules:
Now, therefore, in pursuance of the power and authority conferred upon me by section 23 of the Shipping and Seamen Act, 1908, I do hereby make the following rule amending the hereinbefore-recited rules.
RULE.
On and after the 1st day of January, 1916, candidates for certificates of competency as masters or mates will not be required to pass the wool test prescribed by the hereinbefore-recited rules. All requirements in respect of and all references to such wool test in the said rules shall be revoked as from the 1st day of January, 1916.

Te Makarini Scholarships, held at Te Aute College, Hawke’s Bay.
TWO scholarships of the yearly value of £35, tenable for two years, are offered for competition. One of these scholarships, to be called the senior scholarship, is open to all Maori boys not over sixteen years of age at the end of the month preceding the date of the examination: the other, to be called the junior scholarship, is open to all Maori boys under fourteen years of age at the end of the month preceding the date of the examination who have attended a Native school or schools under the control of the Education Department, and whose attendance at school during the previous year is considered by the Inspector of Native Schools to have been satisfactory. The scholarships are open to Maori boys on the conditions laid down in the regulations of the Trustees of the Te Makarini Scholarships Fund, as printed in the Appendix to the Regulations relating to Native Schools. The examination will be held at convenient centres on the 6th and 7th of December, 1915.
Candidates must, either directly or through their teachers, send notice to the Inspector of Native Schools, Education Department, Wellington, of their intention to present themselves for examination. Such notice must be posted so as to reach the Department not later than the 31st of October, 1915.
Copies of the regulations and forms of notice may be obtained from teachers of Native schools and boarding institutions, the Secretaries to Education Boards, or the Secretary for Education, Wellington.

WHEREAS, in pursuance of section fourteen of the Municipal Corporations Amendment Act, 1913 (hereinafter referred to as “the said Act”), a petition has been presented to the Governor praying that the Eden Terrace Road District be included in the City of Auckland:
And whereas a notice showing the proposed alteration in boundaries of the said city has been gazetted and publicly notified, and objections in writing against such alteration have been duly considered, and it is expedient to make the alteration prayed for:
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the power and authority vested in him by the said Act, and acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion doth hereby order and declare that on and from the first day of October, one thousand nine hundred and fifteen, the area described in the Schedule hereto, being the area now comprised in the Eden Terrace Road District, shall be included in the City of Auckland.
SCHEDULE.
ALL that area in the Auckland Land District bounded towards the north-west and north-east by the City of Auckland from the northernmost corner of the Borough of Mount Albert to the northern boundary of the Borough of Mount Eden; thence towards the south-east generally by the Borough of Mount Eden to the eastern boundary of the Borough of Mount Albert; and thence towards the south-west by the Borough of Mount Albert to the southern boundary of the City of Auckland, the place of commencement.
