POST.—TABLE OF RATES OF POSTAGE, ETC.—continued.
Special Prohibitions and Observations.
Prohibitions.—Vines and parts of vines (except grapes), saccharine and its products, bullion exceeding £5 in value, oilskins and similar goods.
Observations.—The importation of wines and similar beverages into Luxembourg is subject to restrictions.
Prohibitions.—Opium; firearms, parts of arms and ammunition; and in addition, via London, bullion exceeding £5 in value, oilskins and similar goods.
Observations.—No compensation is paid in respect of loss or damage of uninsured parcels or their contents.
Prohibitions.—Same as France, except that tobacco is admitted without restriction.
Observations.—Uninsured parcels are accepted for all places in Madagascar. The international service only extends to the undermentioned ports: Ambohibe, Analalava, Anjouan, Diego-Suarez, Farafangana, Fort Dauphin, Grand Comoro, Mahanoro, Maintirano, Majunga, Mananjary, Maroantsetra, Mayotte, Mohéli, Morondava, Nossi-Bé, Sainte-Marie, Tamatave, Tuléar, Vatomandry, and Vohemar. The cost of conveyance beyond these places is at the expense of the addressees, who must pay the additional postage on delivery. Insured parcels are accepted only for the places mentioned above, and for Ambato-Boëni, Ambatolaona, Ambohimahasoa, Ambositra, Andovoranto, Anivorano, Antsirabe, Arivonimamo, Bétroka, Brickaville, Fianarantsoa, Maevatanana, Mandritsara, Maniakandriana, Marovoay, Miandrivazo, Miaramarivo, Moramanga, and Tananarive. Via India: Parcels containing umbrellas, sticks, maps, plans, or similar articles will be accepted up to a maximum of 3 ft. 3 in. in length, provided they do not exceed 7½ in. in breadth or thickness.
Prohibitions.—Same as Portugal, with the addition of firearms.
Prohibitions.—Opium, morphia, morphine, cocaine (unless addressed to the Senior Medical Officer at Kuala Lumpur or Taipeng, or to the Medical Officer at Kuantan, Raub, or Seremban); hypodermic syringes (except under special license from the Medical Department); spirits, bhang; ammunition and firearms (except under permit); bullion exceeding £5 in value, oilskins and similar goods.
Observations.—Drugs should be fully described in the Customs declaration, otherwise they are liable to be detained for examination. No parcel may exceed £120 in value. Insured parcels are accepted for all places in Negri Sembilan, Pahang, Perak, and Selangor except Kuantan and Pekan in Pahang; but delivery is effected from the undermentioned offices only: Batu Gajah, Ipoh, Kajang, Klang, Kuala Kangsar, Kuala Kubu, Kuala Lipis, Kuala Lumpur, Parit Buntar, Port Dickson, Port Swettenham, Raub, Seremban, Tanjong Malim, Taipeng, Tapah, Teluk Anson. In the case of insured parcels addressed to other places in these four States, the addressees must arrange for them to be claimed at the nearest delivery office. Insured parcels are accepted for Johore Bahru in Johore and for Alor Star in Kedah, but not for other places in Johore and Kedah nor for places in Kelantan, Perlis, and Trengganu. Parcel-post with Trengganu is restricted to the Towns of Kuala Trengganu and Kemaman. No compensation is paid in respect of loss or damage of uninsured parcels or their contents.
Prohibitions.—Arms and ammunition; opium, grapes, oranges, potatoes, cotton-seed; rags and shoddy, used sacks, carpets, embroidery; morphine, cocaine, and heroin are subject to certain restrictions; coffee-beans or ground coffee coloured with substances injurious to health, vines, or fruit packed in vine-leaves, bullion exceeding £5 in value, oilskins and similar goods.
Observations.—Parcels for Malta are delivered at post-offices only.
