Section 19, Block XI: Area, 88 acres 1 rood. Cash purchase: Total price, £60. Occupation with right of purchase: Half-yearly rent, £1 10s. Renewable lease: Half-yearly rent, £1 4s.

Covered with fairly heavy bush; rimu and broadleaf in small quantities, and kamai in larger quantities. Land ridgy, but not much broken. Soil light loam, on clay formation; fairly well watered; general aspect good. Altitude, 500 ft. to 700 ft. above sea-level. Situated at Chaslands, about twelve miles from McLennan Railway-station, on the Catlin’s Branch line. A road is formed to within about a mile and a half of the north-west corner of the section. School, post and telephone office, and dairy factory are about three miles distant.

Opening Lands in Hawke’s Bay Land District for Sale or Selection.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the Land Act, 1908, I, Arthur William de Brito Savile, Earl of Liverpool, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, having received the report of the Under-Secretary in this behalf, as provided by section one hundred and fifty-four of the said Act, do hereby declare that the lands described in the Schedule hereto shall be open for sale or selection on Monday, the eighth day of March, one thousand nine hundred and fifteen; and also that the lands mentioned in the said Schedule may, at the option of the applicant, be purchased for cash, or be selected for occupation with right of purchase, or on renewable lease; and I do hereby also fix the prices at which the said lands shall be sold, occupied, or leased, as mentioned in the said Schedule hereto, and do declare that the said lands shall be sold, occupied, or leased under and subject to the provisions of the Land Act, 1908.


SCHEDULE.

HAWKE’S BAY LAND DISTRICT.—SECOND-CLASS LAND.

Waikohu County.—Motu Survey District.

SECTION 10, Block XV: Area, 66 acres. Cash purchase: Total price, £270. Occupation with right of purchase: Half-yearly rent, £6 15s. Renewable lease: Half-yearly rent, £5 8s.

About 12 acres along the front is flat and easy terrace land, and will be ploughable when cleared. Most of the timber on this portion is dead, and there is grass growing all through it. About 30 acres in the middle of the section is hilly land, covered with fairly heavy mixed bush, principally tawa. The balance of the section (about 24 acres) consists of undulating and easy slopes, about one-half in grass and the remainder in light bush. The soil is good throughout. The section is well watered, but it might be necessary to conserve the water on the front portion during a very dry summer. Situated on Neil Road, about a mile from Rakauroa Post-office and store, and a mile and a quarter from Rakauroa Railway-station. There is a school on the adjoining section.

Waiapu County.—Mata Survey District.

Section 1, Block XVI: Area, 226 acres 1 rood 33 perches. Cash purchase: Total price, £1,020. Occupation with right of purchase: Half-yearly rent, £25 10s. Renewable lease: Half-yearly rent, £20 8s.

Soil fairly good, principally covered with manuka scrub; well watered. Undulating land, with easy slopes; about half ploughable. Access by unformed road. Adjoins Te Puia Township.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this twenty-second day of December, one thousand nine hundred and fourteen.

IMPROVEMENTS.

The improvements on the foregoing sections which are included in the price of the land are as follows:—

Section 1—Half share in 38 chains of drain on north-eastern boundary. Section 2—Half share in 26 chains of drain on north-eastern boundary. Section 3—14 chains of outlet drain on southern corner, and half share in 53 chains of drain on eastern boundary. Section 4—Half share in 33 chains of drain on north-western boundary, and half share in 26 chains of drain on north-eastern boundary. Section 5 —Half share in 34 chains of drain on north-eastern boundary.
