Now, therefore, I, Arthur William de Brito Savile, Earl of Liverpool, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, by virtue of such authority, do hereby revoke such Warrant of appointment, the revocation to have effect on and from the third day of December, one thousand nine hundred and fourteen.

IN pursuance of the authority conferred upon me by an Order in Council made on the third day of August, one thousand nine hundred and fourteen, in pursuance of section two of the Post and Telegraph Amendment Act, 1910, I, Arthur William de Brito Savile, Earl of Liverpool, Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, in the present time of war, do hereby authorize and appoint

LAURENCE WILLIAM BOURKE, Esquire,

of Awanui, to act during my pleasure as a Censor of telegraphic messages in respect of the telegraph station at Awanui.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this third day of December, one thousand nine hundred and fourteen.

Opening Lands in Wellington Land District for Sale or Selection.


LIVERPOOL, Governor.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the Land Act, 1908, I, Arthur William de Brito Savile, Earl of Liverpool, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, having received the report of the Under-Secretary in this behalf, as provided by section one hundred and fifty-four of the said Act, do hereby declare that the lands described in the Schedule hereto shall be open for sale or selection on Monday, the twenty-second day of February, one thousand nine hundred and fifteen; and also that the lands mentioned in the said Schedule may, at the option of the applicant, be purchased for cash, or be selected for occupation with right of purchase, or on renewable lease; and I do hereby also fix the prices at which the said lands shall be sold, occupied, or leased, as mentioned in the said Schedule hereto, and do declare that the said lands shall be sold, occupied, or leased under and subject to the provisions of the Land Act, 1908.


SCHEDULE.

WELLINGTON LAND DISTRICT.—FIRST-CLASS LAND.

Akitio County.—Puketoi Survey District.

Section 25, Block III: Area, 154 acres 2 roods. Cash purchase: Total price, £310. Occupation with right of purchase: Half-yearly rent, £7 15s. Renewable lease: Half-yearly rent, £6 4s.

Section 20, Block IV: Area, 125 acres 2 roods. Cash purchase: Total price, £280. Occupation with right of purchase: Half-yearly rent, £7. Renewable lease: Half-yearly rent, £5 12s.

Section 32, Block IV: Area, 118 acres 2 roods. Cash purchase: Total price, £240. Occupation with right of purchase: Half-yearly rent, £6. Renewable lease: Half-yearly rent, £4 16s.

Situated on the Utewai and Makuri—Aohanga Roads; access from Pahiatua, via Makuri. The distance to Sections 20 and 32 is twenty-six and twenty-seven miles respectively, by metalled road all the way. The distance to Section 25 is twenty-nine miles, all of which, excepting a mile and a half, is by metalled road. Hilly land, covered with bush. A small area on Section 20 has been grassed. Soil is of fair to good quality, on clay and papa formation. The forest is heavy, and comprises rata, rimu, kahikatea, hinau, &c., with usual undergrowth. Watered by permanent streams. Elevation from 800 ft, to 1,500 ft. above sea-level,

Akitio County.—Mount Cerberus Survey District.—
Rising Sun Block.

Section 56, Block I: Area, 245 acres. Cash purchase: Total price, £560. Occupation with right of purchase: Half-yearly rent, £14. Renewable lease: Half-yearly rent, £11 4s.

Section 57, Block I: Area, 197 acres. Cash purchase: Total price, £500. Occupation with right of purchase: Half-yearly rent, £12 10s. Renewable lease: Half-yearly rent, £10.

Section 58, Block I: Area, 128 acres. Cash purchase: Total price, £320. Occupation with right of purchase: Half-yearly rent, £8. Renewable lease: Half-yearly rent, £6 8s.

Section 59, Block I: Area, 220 acres. Cash purchase: Total price, £550. Occupation with right of purchase: Half-yearly rent, £13 15s. Renewable lease: Half-yearly rent, £11.

Situated on the North Range Road. Access from Pahiatua, about forty miles distant—thirty-six miles by formed and metalled road, two miles and a half by formed road, and a mile and a half surveyed road unformed. Another means of access is from the south by the Makuri—Pongaroa Road, &c. Hilly land, covered with bush. Soil of good quality, on limestone and papa formation. About 20 acres of Section 58 felled and grassed. The forest is fairly heavy, and comprises rata, tawa, rimu, hinau, &c., with usual undergrowth. Well watered by permanent streams. Elevation from 700 ft. to 1,850 ft. above sea-level.

Section 18, Block XXI: Area, 10 acres. Cash purchase: Total price, £20. Occupation with right of purchase: Half-yearly rent, 10s. Renewable lease: Half-yearly rent, 8s.

Section 31, Block XXI: Area, 9 acres 3 roods 5 perches. Cash purchase: Total price, £30. Occupation with right of purchase: Half-yearly rent, 15s. Renewable lease: Half-yearly rent, 12s.

Section 32, Block XXI: Area, 10 acres 2 roods 35 perches. Cash purchase: Total price, £35. Occupation with right of purchase: Half-yearly rent, 17s. 6d. Renewable lease: Half-yearly rent, 14s.

Section 18 is covered with tussock: Rough, steep land, of fair quality. Situated about two miles and a half from Queenstown by a good road. Sections 31 and 32 are fairly steep. The soil is good, but is mixed with gravel. About one-half of each section could be cultivated, and would be suitable for growing fruit. Well watered by a small creek which may possibly become dry in a hot summer. Situated about two miles from Queenstown by a good road.

SECOND-CLASS LAND.

Lake County.—Lower Wanaka Survey District.

Section 2, Block XIII: Area, 43 acres 2 roods 24 perches. Cash purchase: Total price, £25. Occupation with right of purchase: Half-yearly rent, 12s. 6d. Renewable lease: Half-yearly rent, 10s.

Weighted with £6 19s., valuation for fencing.
