Notice of Vesting of Land in the Public Trustee under the Public Trust Office Act, 1908, Part II, Unclaimed Lands, and its Amendments.

WHEREAS I, the undersigned, the Public Trustee, have, for the purposes of Part II of the Public Trust Office Act, 1908 (relating to unclaimed lands), made due inquiries with respect to the land described in the Schedule hereunder, and the owner thereof, and have, in respect of the said land, given the notices prescribed by section 66 of that Act, and have in all respects complied with the provisions of that Act pertinent hereto: And whereas I have not thereby found the owner or any agent of such owner in the Dominion, nor has such owner established his title to the said land, as required by the said Act: I hereby give notice that the said land is, under and by virtue of the said Act, vested in the Public Trustee as aforesaid, as from the date of the publication hereof, and will be administered under the Public Trust Office Act, 1908, and its amendments; the value of the land for the purposes of section 67 (d) of the said Act being less than £100.

SCHEDULE.

ALL that parcel of land in the Provincial District of Auckland, being Lot 4 of the Kensington Subdivision of Allotment 1 of the Parish of Whangarei, Marsden County. Bounded towards the north-east by Lot 3 of the said subdivision, 145 ft. 2 in.; towards the south-east by Kensington Street, 48 ft. 2 in.; towards the south-west by Park Avenue, 145 ft. 2 in.; and towards the north-west by Lot 5, 48 ft. 2 in.: be all the said several admeasurements a little more or less.

Notice by the Public Trustee under the Public Trust Office Act, 1908 (Part II), and its Amendments.

To the owner of the following land, that is to say: All that parcel of land in the Provincial District of Otago, containing by admeasurement 10·45 perches, more or less, being Allotment 73, Block 1, Township of St. John’s Wood. The registered owner of the said land is one MARY DUFF (or MORGAN), whose last-known address was George Street, South Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, and who cannot now be traced.

WHEREAS the Public Trustee has instituted inquiries, and has been unable to find the whereabouts of the owner of the above-described land or of any agent of such owner in New Zealand:

Now, the Public Trustee hereby calls upon such owner, within six months of the date of the publication of this notice in this Gazette, to establish to the satisfaction of the Public Trustee his title to the said land; and if he fails or neglects so to do, the Public Trustee will exercise the powers and authorities granted to him in and by the Public Trust Office Act, 1908 (Part II), and its amendments.

The Industrial Conciliation and Arbitration Act, 1908.—Amalgamation of Unions.

NOTICE is hereby given that the unions of workers mentioned in the Schedule hereto have been amalgamated so as to form one union, under section 20 of the Industrial Conciliation and Arbitration Act, and their registrations have accordingly been cancelled as from the 17th day of December, 1914.

The title of the amalgamated union is “The Christchurch Branch of the Amalgamated Society of Engineers (including Brass-finishers) and Range-workers’ and Metal-workers’ Assistants Industrial Union of Workers.”

APPLICATIONS will be received by the undersigned up till noon on the 18th January, 1915, from officers of the Public Service, for the position of Secretary to the Public Service Commissioner. Preference will be given to officers possessing the following (or equivalent) qualifications, namely:—

(1.) The Senior Examination.
(2.) The Accountant’s Examination.
(3.) Capacity for inspection of clerical, records, and accounts work.
(4.) A good working knowledge of shorthand.

The position will be graded in the Clerical Division, Class IV, rising to the maximum of Class III.

  1. APPLICATIONS will be received by the undersigned up till noon on the 19th January, 1915, for the position of Milk-tester, Department of Agriculture, Industries, and Commerce, Hamilton.

  2. Applications must be addressed to the Acting Secretary to the Public Service Commissioner, Wellington, and must embrace a statement of education and experience, particulars of age, &c.

  3. Applicants must—
    (a.) Be thoroughly acquainted with and have had experience in the testing of milk by the Babcock method.
    (b.) Write a good hand, be quick and accurate at figures, and understand the computing of milk and butter-fat returns.
    (c.) Be able to milk and handle cows efficiently.

The appointment will be subject to the provisions of the Public Service Act, 1912.

The position will be graded in the General Division. Salary, £200 per annum.

  2. Applications must be addressed to the Secretary to the Public Service Commissioner, Wellington, and must embrace a statement of education and experience, particulars of age, &c.

  3. The qualifications required are as follows:—
    (a.) A good knowledge of the culture of vines both in the vineyard and the glasshouse.
    (b.) A thorough knowledge of the diseases and pests of the vine, and their method of treatment.
    (c.) A good experience in the manufacture and blending of wines, and regarding all appliances connected therewith.

The appointment will be subject to the provisions of the Public Service Act, 1912.

The position will be graded in the General Division. Salary, £260; maximum, £300 per annum.
