The back light is exhibited from a pillar painted red, on
the sandhill on the N.W. side of the jetty, at a height of
32 ft. above H.W., shows white over an arc of 90° to seaward,
and should be visible at a distance of 11 miles in clear weather.
The front light is exhibited from an iron tower painted red,
on the outer end of the jetty, at a height of 18 ft. above
H.W., shows red over an arc of 90° to seaward, and should
be visible at a distance of 2 miles in clear weather.
The distance between the lights is 1,200 ft., and the bearing
on which they are in line is 33°, mag. N. 29° 50′ E.
Approximate position of back light: Lat. 33° 38½′ S., long.
134° 52½′ E.
This affects Admiralty Chart No. 1061.

NAVIGATORS who use the above-named works, pub-
lished by the New Zealand Marine Department, are
requested to make the following corrections in their copies,
viz. :—
On page 33 of the 1908 edition and page 43 of the 1911
edition, in Table C, under latitude 33°, last line should read
50·3° in lieu of 53·3°.
On page 74 of the 1908 edition and page 103 of the 1911
edition, thirteenth line, 1st observation ⭕’s Cor. DL should
read 23° 6′ 49″ N. in lieu of 26° 6′ 49″ N.
On page 76 of 1908 edition and page 106 of 1911 edition
DLs on these pages should read N. in lieu of S.
On page 90 of 1908 edition and page 119 of 1911 edition,
ninth line should read 23° 27′ N. in lieu of S.
On page 135 of 1908 edition, under 47 m. and abreast
60° S., reduction for Star Achernar should read 21·8 in
lieu of 31·8 ; and on page 143, reduction for Star B Argus
under 1 h. 13 m. and abreast latitude 42° S. should read
48·8′ in lieu of 58·8′.
In the “New Zealand Nautical Almanac” for 1914, on page
120, and in “Modern Up-to-date Navigation,” on page 32,
under 24 m. and abreast 42° N., reduction should read 30·7′
in lieu of 20·7′.

AUCKLAND HARBOUR APPROACH.—TAKAPUNA WHARF LIGHT
ALTERED.

THE Auckland Harbour Board have notified that on and
after Saturday, 1st August, 1914, the colour of the
light on Takapuna Wharf, Rangitoto Channel, will be altered
from a fixed white to a fixed red light.

2543 ; “New Zealand Pilot,” eighth edition, 1908, Chapter ii,
page 35 ; “New Zealand Nautical Almanac,” 1914, page 248.

Public Service Stores Tender Board.—Supply and Delivery of
Electric Motors and Starting Apparatus.
Wellington, 4th July, 1914.
TENDERS will be received at the office of the Chairman
(Government Printing Office) not later than 5 p.m. on
Tuesday, the 14th July, 1914, for the supply and delivery,
C.I.F. and E., Wellington, of eight 5 B.H.P. motors and
starting apparatus for printing machinery. Tenders must be
addressed to the Chairman, Public Service Stores Tender
Board, Wellington. The tender is to state the earliest
delivery that can be given. Particulars and conditions of
tendering and specifications may be obtained at the office of
the Government Printer, Wellington. Tenders must be
accompanied by a deposit of £20.
The lowest or any tender will not necessarily be accepted.

TENDERS will be received at the office of the Chairman
(Government Printing Office) not later than noon on
Tuesday, the 21st July, 1914, for the supply and delivery,
C.I.F. and E., Wellington, of 4,000 lb. mineral jelly and 1,600
gallons rifle oil. Tenders must be addressed to the Chairman,
Public Service Stores Tender Board, Wellington. Delivery of
the stores is to be made within four months from the date of
order. Particulars and conditions of tendering and specifi-
cations may be obtained at the office of the Defence Stores,
Wellington, where samples may be seen. Tenders must be
accompanied by a deposit of £25.
The lowest or any tender will not necessarily be accepted.
