- That the bonus shall only be paid to the first claimant who satisfies the above conditions.
The terms of payment shall be—
One-fifth on the committee reporting favourably of the discovery;
One-fifth on delivery of the first 200 tons to purchasers;
The remaining three-fifths by equal payments on delivery of each additional 150 tons to purchasers.
Applications, addressed to “The Secretary of Agriculture, Industries, and Commerce,” will be received up to and including the 31st day of March, 1915.
Specimens of the rock may be seen at the office of any of this Department’s Fields Inspectors, and a leaflet descriptive of the phosphate, and showing how it may be roughly tested, may be obtained on application to these officers. A limited number of specimens of New Zealand phosphate rock are available for distribution to farmers, prospectors, and others interested, and will be sent free on application to the Agricultural Chemist, Dominion Laboratory, Wellington.

MANGAWEKA TOWN BOARD.
Result of Poll.
PURSUANT to subsection (2) of section 12 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, I hereby give notice that a poll of the ratepayers of the Town District of Mangaweka was taken on the 20th day of June, 1914, on the proposal of the Mangaweka Town Board to borrow the sum of one thousand six hundred and fifty pounds for the purpose of duplication, completion, and extension of the Board’s electrical machinery and the works and plant appertaining thereto.
The number of votes recorded for the proposal was 44. The number of votes recorded against the proposal was 11. The number of informal votes was 0.
I therefore declare that the proposal was carried.

MANGAWEKA TOWN BOARD.
Result of Poll.
PURSUANT to subsection (2) of section 12 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, I hereby give notice that a poll of the ratepayers of the Mangaweka Special-rating District was taken on the 20th day of June, 1914, on the proposal of the Mangaweka Town Board to borrow the sum of one thousand three hundred and fifty pounds for the purpose of connecting private properties within the aforesaid special-rating district to the water and sewerage system now established within the aforesaid special-rating district.
The number of votes recorded for the proposal was 31. The number of votes recorded against the proposal was 4. The number of informal votes was 0.
I therefore declare that the proposal was carried.

Notice of Result of Poll on Proposal to raise a Loan.
PURSUANT to section 12 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, we hereby give notice that at a poll of the ratepayers of the Borough of Thames taken on the 25th day of June, 1914, on the proposal of the Thames Borough Council to borrow the sum of £1,000 to replace in concrete the wooden bridges over the Karaka Cut at Beach Road, Queen Street, Pollen Street, and Baillie Street, also additions to the Mackay Street Bridge, the total number of votes recorded for the proposal was 79; the total number of votes recorded against the proposal was 21; informal, 1.
We therefore declare that the proposal was carried.

THE following is the number of votes recorded at a poll held yesterday on the following proposals, viz.:
Gravitation Water and Sewerage Loan.—For the proposal, 114; against the proposal, 161; informal, 11: total, 286.
Artesian Water and Sewerage Loan.—For the proposal, 74; against the proposal, 195; informal, 17: total, 286.
Gasworks Loan.—For the proposal, 155; against the proposal, 119; informal, 12: total, 286.
I therefore declare the two former proposals rejected and the Gas Loan carried.

The Public Works Amendment Act, 1911, Section 2.—License to construct and use Electric Lines.
Office of the Minister of Public Works,
Wellington, 16th June, 1914.
EVERY application for a license to construct and use electric lines for lighting and other purposes under section 2 of the Public Works Amendment Act, 1911, must be made in writing to the Minister of Public Works at Wellington, and be accompanied by suitable plans showing by means of a distinctive coloured border thereon the proposed area of supply, the position of the power-house and substations, and the route or routes of the electric lines, indicating in each case where the lines cross telegraph and telephone lines, railways, and tramways, and full particulars as regards—
(1.) System of supply.
(2.) Voltage of generation, transmission, and supply.
(3.) Frequency of periodicity (if alternating).
(4.) Manner in which the electricity is generated—i.e., whether by water-power, oil-engine, &c.
(5.) In cases where the applicant is not a local authority, or if a local authority desires to operate beyond its own boundaries, the consent of the local authority concerned must be obtained and forwarded with the application.
(6.) In cases where the applicant is a private individual, the full name, occupation, and address must be supplied.
NOTE.—In order to standardize the conditions as far as possible throughout the Dominion, it is suggested that when convenient the three-phase four-wire system be adopted for distribution at a frequency of 50 cycles per second, and a voltage of 230 between each phase and a neutral for lighting purposes and small motors, and 400 volts between phases for supply to large motors.
