large enough in the socket to allow of three-sixteenths of an inch caulking all round.

Lead Pipes and Traps.—Lead soil-pipes, wastes, traps, vents, bends, and other fittings to be drawn (not seamed), approved by the Inspector, and to be formed of lead weighing not less than 6 lb. per superficial foot.

Joints.—Joints in cast-iron pipes to be made with not less than two rings of spunyarn, and then soft lead run in and caulked. Joints between lead and cast iron to be made in a similar manner, but to have a brass ferrule wiped on to end of lead first. All lead to lead or to screwed-iron joints in any portion of main building to be wiped-soldered. When a closet is bedded on a wooden floor the bedding should be made with genuine red and white lead putty; joints for cast-iron pipes of three-sixteenths of an inch thickness shall be made of lead as above, or of such other material as the Inspector shall approve. The joint between the soil-pipe and the closet basin shall be of cement compo and shall be perfectly airtight.

Galvanized Iron.—Galvanized iron for vents, wastes, and cisterns to be not less than 24-gauge B.W.G. Galvanized-iron piping shall be made with double-lopped, grooved, and soldered longitudinal joints, and the transverse joints shall not be less than 2 in. in length slipped-socketed, and to be made up as per samples in the Road Board Office.


Special Order made by the Awakino County Council redividing County into Ridings.

THE following special order, made by the Awakino County Council, is published in accordance with the provisions of the Counties Act, 1908.

AWAKINO COUNTY COUNCIL.

Special Order redividing the County into Ridings.

NOTICE is hereby given that at a special meeting of the Awakino County Council held on Saturday, the 9th day of May, 1914, the following resolution was passed, and was confirmed at a subsequent meeting of the Council held on Saturday, the 6th day of June, 1914:—

In exercise of the powers conferred on it by section 23 of the Counties Act, 1908, the Awakino County Council resolves, by way of special order, as follows,—

  1. The present division of the County of Awakino into three ridings is revoked, and in lieu thereof the said county shall be divided into six ridings, to be called respectively Awakino Riding, Mahoenui Riding, Waikawau Riding, Puketiti Riding, Mangaohae Riding, Marakopa Riding, which said ridings are respectively described in the Schedule hereto.

  2. The said Awakino County Council shall consist of six members, who shall be elected as follows: The electors of the Awakino Riding, the Mahoenui Riding, the Waikawau Riding, the Puketiti Riding, the Mangaohae Riding, and the Marakopa Riding shall each elect one Councillor.

The alteration hereby made shall come into full force and effect at the next county election in November, 1914, except in so far and to such extent as may be necessary for preparing any rolls or otherwise providing for such election.

SCHEDULE.

Awakino Riding.

Comprising that portion of the Awakino County lying south of a line commencing at the north-west corner of Section 5, Block V, Awakino North; thence in an easterly direction along the northern boundary of the said section to the north-east corner thereof; thence to the north-west corner of Section 1, Block VI, Awakino North; thence along the northern boundary of Sections 1 and 3, Block VI, Awakino North, and Section 1, Block IX, Awakino North, to the north-east corner of the last-named section; thence to the north-west corner of Mahoenui No. 6, thence by the northern boundary thereof to the north-east corner of the said section, thence following the east boundary of the same section and of Mangaawakino No. 1A to the eastern corner of this section, thence along the northern boundary of Mangapapa B No. 2 to the county boundary.

Mahoenui Riding.

That portion of the county enclosed in a line commencing at the southern corner of Mangapapa B No. 1, thence in a westerly direction to the western corner thereof, thence follow the boundary of the Awakino Riding to the south-west corner of Section 4, Block V, Awakino East; thence in a northerly direction to the north-east corner of Section 3, Block IV, Awakino North; thence to the south-west corner of Section 1, Block II, Awakino North; thence to the north-west corner of Section 2, Block I, Awakino East; thence to the north-east corner of the said section, to the south-west corner of Section 1, Block I, Awakino East; thence following the northern boundaries of Sections 5 and 1, Block V, Awakino East, and Mahoenui No. 1B Section 1, Mahoenui No. 1B, to the northern corner of Mahoenui No. 2B; thence to the eastern corner of the said section, thence along the northern boundary of Crown land to the county boundary, thence following the county boundary in a southerly direction to the starting-point.

Puketiti Riding.

All that part of the county enclosed in a line commencing at the north-east corner of Section 4, Block X, Maungamangero; thence to the north-west corner of the same section, to the northern corner of Section 7, Block IX, Maungamangero, to the northern corner of Section 8, Block IX, Maungamangero; thence to the western corner of the same section; thence to the northern corner of Section 12, Block IX, Maungamangero; thence following the western boundaries of the same section and of Section 2, Block XIII, Maungamangero, and of the forest reserve, Block I, Awakino East, till it meets the northern boundary of the Mahoenui Riding; thence following this boundary in an easterly direction to the county boundary, thence following the county boundary in a northerly direction to the starting-point.

Waikawau Riding.

That portion of the county enclosed in a line commencing at the north-west corner of Kinohaku West H No. 2B No. 2C; thence in a straight line to the north-east corner of the same section, to the south-east corner thereof, to the north-east corner of Kinohaku West H No. 2B No. 2B, to the south-east corner of the same section, to the north-east corner of Kinohaku West G No. 1A No. 2, to the south-east corner of the same section; thence to the north-east corner of Kinohaku West G Section 1C No. 2B; thence to the northern corner of Section 2, Block VIII, Whareorino; thence following the northern boundaries of Sections 2, 2A, 3, 4A, 6, 7, Block VIII, Whareorino, and of Section 11, Block IX, Maungamangero, to the north-east corner of this section; thence following in a southerly direction the western boundary of the Puketiti Riding and of the Mahoenui Riding as far as the south-east corner of Section 3, Block IV, Awakino North; thence following in a westerly direction the northern boundary of the Awakino Riding to the coast, thence following the coast to the starting-point.

Mangaohae Riding.

All that part of the county enclosed in a line commencing at the north-west corner of Section 7, Block X, Kawhia South; from thence to the eastern corner of Kinohaku West No. 4; from thence to the western corner of Section 1, Block XIV, Kawhia South, to the eastern corner of Section 1, Block XIII, Kawhia South, to the south-west corner of Section 2, Block XIV, and thence to the north-west corner of Section 7, Block I, Maungamangero; following the western boundaries of Sections 7 and 8 and 1, Block I, Maungamangero, to the south-east corner of Section 6, Block I, Maungamangero; and following in a westerly direction the boundary of the forest reserve, Block V, Maungamangero, to the south-west corner thereof; thence following the western boundaries of Section 2, Block V, Maungamangero, and Section 4, Block VIII, Whareorino, till it meets the boundary of the Waikawau Riding; thence following this boundary till it meets the boundary of the Puketiti Riding; thence following this boundary in an easterly direction to the boundary of the county, and following the county boundary in a northerly direction to the starting-point.

Marakopa Riding.

That part of the county bounded on the eastern side by the Mangaohae Riding as before described, and on the southern side by the Waikawau Riding as before described.
