Prohibition of Money-order and Postal Correspondence for Wenford Company, Harvard House, Castlereagh Street, Sydney.


THE Postmaster-General of the Dominion of New Zealand having reasonable ground for supposing that the company whose name and address are shown in the Schedule hereunder is engaged in advertising the treatment of diseases of the sexual organs, it is hereby ordered, under section 28 of the Post and Telegraph Act, 1908, that no money-order in favour of the said company shall be issued, and that no postal packet addressed to the said company (either by its own or any fictitious or assumed name), or to the Manager, Secretary, or other officer thereof, or addressed to the address in the Schedule hereunder without a name, shall be either registered or forwarded by the Post Office of New Zealand.

Notice of Intention to take Land in Block II, Piopiotea West Survey District, for Road Purposes.


NOTICE is hereby given that it is proposed, under the provisions of the Public Works Act, 1908, to execute a certain public work—to wit, the construction of a road in Block II, Piopiotea West Survey District; and for the purposes of such public work the land described in the Schedule hereto is required to be taken. And notice is hereby further given that the plan of the land so required to be taken is deposited in the post-office at Taumarunui and is there open for inspection; and that all persons affected by the execution of the said public work or by the taking of the said land should, if they have any well-grounded objections to the execution of the said public work or to the taking of such land, set forth the same in writing, and send such writing, within forty days from the first publication of this notice, to the Minister of Public Works at Wellington.


SCHEDULE.

APPROXIMATE area of the piece of land required to be taken: 2 acres 0 roods 31·7 perches.

Portion of Ohura South N No. 2¾ 3D (Taranaki R.D.).

Situated in Block II, Piopiotea West Survey District.

In the Taranaki Land District; as the same is more particularly delineated on the plan marked P.W.D. 36310 (sheet 2), deposited in the office of the Minister of Public Works at Wellington, in the Wellington Provincial District, and thereon coloured pink.

Notice to Mariners No. 91 of 1914.


GISBORNE INNER HARBOUR.—BREAKWATER LIGHT.

Wellington, N.Z., 26th September, 1914.

THE Gisborne Harbour Board have notified that on and after 8th of October, 1914, the present light exhibited at the end of the Southern Breakwater (consisting of two fixed vertical white lights 7 ft. apart, the upper one being 20 ft. above high water) will be removed, and in place thereof a light will be installed at the extreme end of the new breakwater extension. This light will be a white occulting light, flash showing 0·3 second, followed by an eclipse for 2·7 seconds, or twenty flashes per minute. The light will be shown from a white open structure, and is at an elevation of 22 ft. above high water; it is an automatic light burning acetone acetylene gas, and burns continuously for three months.

It should be seen from seaward over an arc of 67° between the bearings of about 349° (N. 26° W. mag.) and 56° (N. 41° E. mag.) round by north, and should be visible for a distance of nine miles on a clear night.

Vessels entering Poverty Bay on the line of leading-lights will open up this light about four cables south of the Waihora Rocks buoy.

Applications invited for the Position of Dairy Instructor and Grader, Gisborne.

  1. APPLICATIONS will be received up till noon on the 19th October, 1914, for the position of Dairy Instructor and Grader, Gisborne.

  2. Applications must be addressed to the Secretary to the Public Service Commissioner, Wellington, and must embrace a statement of education and experience, particulars of age, &c.

  3. Applicants must—
    (a.) Be thoroughly competent in the management of butter-factories, making of creamery-butter, testing of milk and its products, and have had several years’ experience as successful dairy-factory managers.
    (b.) Be a first-class judge of dairy-produce as to quality.
    (c.) Have a sound knowledge of all dairy machinery and equipment, and also some idea of the planning of dairy buildings and the arrangement of plant therein.
    (d.) Possess the necessary qualifications for giving instruction in the efficient handling of milk on dairy farms, including the cleaning of milking-machines.
    (e.) Be able to write well, be quick and accurate at figures, and able to draft reports in a satisfactory manner.

  4. Salary, £280, rising to £300 by annual increments of £10; General Division.

  5. Appointment to be subject to the provisions of the Public Service Act, 1912.

Public Service Stores Tender Board.—Supply and Delivery of Stores.


Wellington, 23rd September, 1914.

TENDERS will be received at the office of the Chairman (Government Printing Office) not later than 5 p.m. on Wednesday, the 4th November, 1914, for the supply and delivery, C.I.F. & E., Wellington, of the undermentioned material:—

500 books, copying, 14 x 9½, with index.
100 books, copying, 14 x 9½, M.O.S.B. summaries.
1,000 books, memo. long thirds, with money column.
1,000 books, memo. quarto, ruled, 2 qr.
150 books, memo. with index, 480 pages.

Tenders must be addressed to the Chairman, Public Service Stores Tender Board, Wellington. Delivery of the books is to be made within six months from date of order, and the successful tenderer must give the security required by the Conditions for the due performance of the contract. Particulars and conditions of tendering may be obtained at the offices of the Controller of Stores, Post and Telegraph Department, Wellington; the District Storekeeper, Post and Telegraph Department, Christchurch; or the Telegraph Engineers at Auckland and Dunedin. Tenders must be accompanied by the deposit stipulated in the Conditions. The lowest or any tender will not necessarily be accepted.
