Varied Notice fixing Closing-hours of Pork-butcher's and Small-goods Shops in the Borough of Petone under the Shops and Offices Act.
WHEREAS a requisition in writing, signed by a majority of the occupiers of all the pork-butcher's and small-goods shops in the Borough of Petone has been forwarded to me, desiring that all such shops within the borough shall be closed in the evening of working-days as follows: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday, 10.30 p.m.; Saturday, 11 p.m.: And whereas the Petone Borough Council has certified that the signatures to such requisition represent a majority of the occupiers of all the pork-butcher's and small-goods shops within the borough:
Now, therefore, I, William Ferguson Massey, Minister of Labour, in pursuance of section 25 of the Shops and Offices Act, 1908, do hereby direct that from and after the 5th day of October, 1914, all pork-butcher's and small-goods shops in the Borough of Petone shall be closed in accordance with such requisition.
The notice gazetted on the 25th day of November, 1909, fixing the closing-hours of all such shops in the borough is hereby varied accordingly.

THE following notice, received from the Mayor of the Borough of New Plymouth, is published in accordance with the provisions of the Local Bodies' Loans Act, 1913.

BOROUGH OF NEW PLYMOUTH.
PURSUANT to the provisions of section 12 of the Local Bodies' Loans Act, 1913, I hereby give notice that a poll of the ratepayers of the Borough of New Plymouth was taken on the 22nd day of September, 1914, upon the proposal of the New Plymouth Borough Council to borrow by way of special loan the sum of £20,000 as hereafter mentioned:—
(a.) The particular purposes for which the loan is required are—to provide additions and extensions to the electric lighting, either within or without the borough, and to supply electricity; to acquire, in connection with such additions and extensions, lands, easements, and appurtenances and buildings, engines and machinery, and other things; to pay compensation to any person injuriously affected, and any other purpose incidental to or in relation to any of the above purposes.
(b.) The sum to be borrowed for all of such purposes is £20,000, at a rate of interest not exceeding £5 per centum per annum, with a sinking fund of ½ per centum additional.
(c.) The proposed security for the said loan of £20,000, and the interest and sinking fund thereon, is an annually recurring special rate of 3½d. in the pound on the annual value of all rateable property in the said borough; and it is proposed to repay the money on the 1st day of April, 1933.
(d.) It is proposed to pay out of the loan the cost of raising the loan and the interest and sinking fund thereon for the first year.
The number of votes recorded for the proposal was 256. The number of votes recorded against the proposal was 75.
I therefore declare that the proposal was carried.

BOROUGH OF MORNINGTON.
I HEREBY give notice that on the 18th day of September, 1914, a proposal was submitted by the Mornington Borough Council to the electors of the Borough of Mornington duly qualified to vote to raise a loan of £5,000 for and in connection with the widening of Mailer Street, and that the number of votes recorded respectively for and against the said proposal was as follows: For, 111; against, 258; informal, 10. And I declare the said proposal to be rejected.
And I also give notice that on the above-mentioned date a proposal was submitted by the said Council to the said electors to raise a loan of £5,000 for the purposes of street-construction and the purchase and development of the Mill Road Quarry, and that the number of votes recorded respectively for and against the said last-mentioned proposal was as follows: For, 121; against, 248; informal, 10.
And I declare such last-mentioned proposal to be also rejected.

TIMARU BOROUGH COUNCIL.
Proposal to raise a Special Loan.
We hereby give public notice that on the 24th day of September, 1914, the following proposal to raise a special loan under the Local Bodies' Loans Act, 1913, was submitted by the Timaru Borough Council to a poll of the ratepayers of the Borough of Timaru.
PROPOSAL.
(a.) The particular purpose for which the loan is required is for the formation and completion to their adopted levels of all streets in the Borough of Timaru which have not yet been so formed, particulars whereof have been open for inspection at the office of the Timaru Borough Council.
(b.) The sum proposed to be borrowed for such purpose is £10,000, having a currency not exceeding fifty years, and bearing interest not exceeding £5 per centum per annum, or such greater or lesser amount as may be required and may be allowed by law for the purposes of this loan, and for other purposes in relation thereto, prescribed by the Municipal Corporations Act, 1908, and the Local Bodies' Loans Act, 1913, or either of them.
(c.) The proposed security is a special rate of 1d. in the pound sterling on the amount of the annual rateable value of all rateable property in the said borough, and the provision for repayment of the loan is a sinking fund of £1 per centum
