Award of the Colonial Auxiliary Forces Long-service Medal.

HIS Excellency the Governor has been pleased to approve
of the award of a Colonial Auxiliary Forces Long-
service Medal to

No. 45/17, Sergeant-major HUGH MONTGOMERY, New
Zealand Garrison Artillery,
he having a total service to the llth August, 1913, entitling
him thereto of twenty years and nineteen days.

Approval of Fees for Licensing of Vehicles fixed by Halswell
County Council.

IT is hereby notified, in accordance with section 107 of the
Counties Act, 1908, that so much of the By-law No. 1,
made by the Halswell County Council, and sealed on the 4th
day of September, 1913, as appoints the several sums to be
paid to the Halswell County Fund for the licensing of vehicles
has this day been approved by His Excellency the Governor.

Special Order made by the Wallace County Council altering
Ridings and fixing Representation.

THE following special order, made by the Wallace County
Council, is published in accordance with the provisions
of the Counties Act, 1908.

SPECIAL ORDER.

In exercise of the powers conferred on it by section 23 of the
Counties Act, 1908, the Wallace County Council resolves by
way of special order as follows:

  1. The present division of the County of Wallace into six
    ridings is revoked, and in lieu thereof the said county shall
    be divided into nine ridings to be called respectively Orepuki,
    Pourakino, Waimatuku, Aparima, Otatau, Mararoa, Wairio,
    Wairaki, and Waiau, which ridings are respectively described
    in the Schedule hereto.

  2. The said Wallace County Council shall consist of nine
    members, who shall be elected as follows: The electors of
    each riding shall elect one Councillor.

  3. The alteration hereby made shall take effect on and
    after the 10th day of November, 1914.

SCHEDULE.

Orepuki Riding.

The Orepuki Riding comprises the whole of the Longwood
Survey District, and is bounded towards the north by the
Waiau Survey District, towards the east by the Aparima
and Jacobs River Hundreds to the sea, towards the south
by the sea, and towards the west by the Waiau River to the
starting-point.

Pourakino Riding.

Bounded commencing at the north-west corner of Block
XXI, Jacobs River Hundred; towards the north by the
Aparima Hundred; towards the north-east by the main
Otatau-Riverton Road; towards the north by the Fairfax-
Calcium Road; towards the east (generally) by the Jacobs
River and the Jacobs River Estuary to a point in line with
the north-west boundary of Section 7, Block I, Jacobs River
Hundred; thence towards the north-west, the south-west
(generally), and the south-east by part of the Borough of
Riverton to the sea; thence generally towards the east and
south by the sea to a point in line with the western boundary
of Block XVIII, Jacobs River Hundred; thence towards
the west by the Orepuki Riding and the Longwood Survey
District to the starting-point.

Waimatuku Riding.

Bounded towards the north by the Fairfax-Calcium Road;
towards the west (generally) by the Jacobs River, part of
the Borough of Riverton, and part of the Jacobs River

Estuary to the sea; towards the south by the sea to the
mouth of the Waimatuku Stream; towards the east by the
Southland County, by a line running up the centre of the
Waimatuku Stream, to the starting-point.

Aparima Riding.

Bounded commencing at the south-west corner of the
Aparima Hundred; towards the west (generally) by the
Orepuki Riding and the Waiau Survey District to the eastern
angle of Section 173, Block IX, Waiau Survey District;
towards the north generally by part of the Wairio Survey
District, by right lines running between aforesaid eastern
angle of said Section 173, Trig. F (Woodlaw), Trig. V, and
the western angle of Lot 7B, part Waicola Estate; towards
the north-east by said Lot 7B; towards the south-east by
part of the main Waikouro-Wairio Road; towards the north-
east by the Woodlaw Railway-station Road; towards the
south-east by a road-line to the hundred line; towards the
north by the road along the hundred line; towards the
south-east (generally) by the Jacobs River to where it touches
the northern boundary of the Otatau Town District; to-
wards the south generally, the east generally, and the north
generally by the Otatau Town District to the Jacobs River;
towards the east (generally) by the Jacobs River to the
Fairfax-Calcium Road; towards the south, west, and south
by the Fairfax-Calcium Road, the main Otatau-Riverton
Road, and the Pourakino Riding respectively to the starting-
point.

Otatau Riding.

Bounded commencing where the northern boundary of the
Oreti Hundred runs into the Jacobs River, towards the north
by the road along the southern boundary of the Taringatura
Survey District, towards the east (generally) and south by
the Southland County, towards the south by the Fairfax-
Calcium Road and the Waimatuku Riding, towards the west
(generally) by the Jacobs River to the starting-point.

Waiau Riding.

Bounded commencing at a point on the southern shore of
Lake Manapouri, at its intersection with the county boundary;
towards the north-east by Lake Manapouri; towards the
east (generally) by the Waiau River; towards the north by
the Wairaki River; towards the north-east by a road-line
along part of eastern boundary of Section 63, Block II;
towards the north-west by road along part the north-west
boundary of Section 14, Block II; towards the north by
Section 13, Block II; towards the east by part Section 90,
Block II; towards the north by said Section 90 and part
Section 30, Block II; towards the east (generally) by road-
line along western boundaries of Sections 74, 73, 72, Block V;
towards the north by said Section 72; towards the east by
Sections 77 and 78, Block VI; towards the north (generally)
by road along southern boundary of said Section 78;
towards the north by Section 79, Block VI, to the Orawia
River; towards the east (generally) by the Orawia River;
towards the north by Sections 104 and 103, Block VI, all
in the Waiau Survey District; towards the north-east by
the Wairio Survey District to the eastern angle of Section 173,
Block IX, Waiau Survey District; towards the east (gener-
ally) by the Aparima Riding; towards the south by the
Orepuki Riding; towards the south-east by the Waiau
River; towards the south (generally) by the sea; towards
the west by the Fiord County to the starting-point.

Mararoa Riding.

Bounded commencing at Cloudy Point, Bligh Sound; to-
wards the north and east by the Lake County to Hummock
Peak; thence towards the south by the Southland County
along a right line due west to the middle of the Oreti River;
towards the east by the Southland County by a line down
the middle of the Oreti River to a point in line with south
boundary of Section 18, Taringatura Survey District; thence
towards the south by the Southland County to the south-east
angle of Section 186, Taringatura Survey District; towards
the west and south-west by said Section 186; towards the
south (generally) by said Section 186, Section 184, and Sec-
tion 298, Taringatura Survey District; towards the south-
east by the Jacobs River; towards the south (generally) and
west (generally) by part Wairaki Survey District, along the
Dunrobin Station boundary to the Jacobs River; towards
the south-west by the Wairaki Survey District along the
Jacobs River to its junction with the Spence Burn; towards
the south by parts of the Wairaki and Takitimo Survey
Districts from said junction to where the Whare Creek cuts
eastern boundary of E.R. 56, Takitimo Survey District; to-
wards the south by the Whare Creek; towards the south-
west by the Waiau Riding along the Waiau River and the
southern shore of Lake Manapouri to the county boundary;
towards the west (generally) by the Fiord County to the
starting-point.
