tion is specifically allocated in the following amounts to the

five hundred and fifty pounds (£550); Bridgman Street, four

The said sum of £925 for waterworks is specifically
allocated to the particular works in the particular streets
hereinafter specified, that is to say:-

- The said sum of £105 for the purchase of one water-cart.
- The said sum of £395 for the erection of fire-alarms.
And that, for the purpose of providing interest, sinking
fund, and other charges on the said loan, the said Council
proposes to make and levy a special rate of one penny and
three-sixteenths (1 3/16) of a penny in the pound upon the
rateable unimproved value of all rateable property of the
said borough; and that such special rate shall be an annual-
recurring rate during the currency of such loan, and be pay-
able half-yearly on the first day of December and the first
day of June in each and every year during the currency of
such loan, being a period of thirty-one years, or until the
loan is fully paid off. And to provide for the purposes of
securing the repayment of the said loan and for further
securing the payment of all interest, sinking fund, and other
charges which may from time to time become payable there-
under, the said Council proposes to appropriate and pledge
the property of the Borough of St. Kilda and any revenues
of the said borough from any source other than moneys
received by way of grant from the Government of New Zea-
land, and any funds and moneys of the said borough subject
to a special loan of £2,000 bearing interest at £4 10s. per
centum per annum (secured on the general rates of the
borough), and also to a special loan of £7,000 bearing interest
at £4 per centum per annum (secured on the whole of a
special rate of sixpence in the pound sterling on the rateable
value of all property in the said borough and on the general
indebtedness of the said borough), and also to a loan of £5,000
bearing interest at £4 per centum per annum secured on the
whole of the waterworks constructed being a first charge
thereon, and also such water-supply rates as the Council is
empowered to make and levy by virtue of all powers the said
Council thereunto enabling, and also to a loan of £7,000
bearing interest at £4 10s. per centum per annum (secured
on the property of the Borough of St. Kilda and any reve-
nues of the said borough from any source other than moneys
received by way of grant from the Government of New Zea-
land, and any funds and moneys of the said borough); and
also to a loan of £9,900 bearing interest at £4 10s. per centum
per annum (secured on the property of the said Borough of
St. Kilda and any revenues of the said borough from any
source other than moneys received by way of grant from the
Government of New Zealand and any funds and moneys of
the said borough); and also to a loan of £1,500 bearing
interest at £4 10s. per centum per annum (secured on the
property of the said Borough of St. Kilda and any revenues
of the said borough from any source other than moneys
received by way of grant from the Government of New Zea-
land and any funds and moneys of the said borough). And
to provide funds for the creation of a sinking fund by the
permanent appropriation of such sum as shall be equal to
half per centum of the said loan, and by the permanent
pledge of any part of the local fund not prohibited by any
provision of the Local Bodies' Loans Act, 1908, from being
made security for such loan ; and to provide further that
any preliminary expenses in connection with the scheme for
which such loan is to be raised shall be paid cut of such loan
moneys. And that the number of votes recorded respec-
tively for and against the proposal was as follows : For the
proposal, 433 ; against the proposal, 96.
And I declare the said proposal to be carried.

RESOLUTION MAKING SPECIAL RATE OVER THE MACKENZIE
TELEPHONE SPECIAL-RATING AREA.
IN pursuance and in exercise of the powers vested in it
by the Local Bodies' Loans Act, 1908, and its amend-
ments, and the Country Telephone Lines Act, 1912, the Mac-
kenzie County Council hereby resolves as follows:-
That, for the purpose of providing for the payment of
interest and sinking fund and other charges on the loan of
twelve hundred pounds (£1,200) authorized to be raised by
the petition of certain ratepayers by the said County Council,
under the above-mentioned Acts, for the following purpose-
erecting and maintaining telephone lines to connect the pro-
perties of the said ratepayers with the Government telephone
offices or telephone exchanges at Balmoral and at Burke's
Pass-the said County Council hereby makes and levies a
special rate of one penny in the pound on the rateable value
of all rateable property in the Mackenzie Telephone Special-
rating Area, comprising Lots 1/12, 14/6, 19/29, 35/49,
D.P. 213, R.S. 35007, 35629, Lots 1/7, 31, 33, D.P. 299,
R.S. 30262/3, part R.S. 26024, Lot 30, part R.S. 26024,
