Situated on the Mangapehi Road. Access from Kopaki Railway-station, about six miles distant, by surveyed road. The present access is by bridle-track from the 10-mile peg on the Te Kuiti—Awakino Road, about four miles distant. This will eventually be the best access. The section comprises undulating and hilly fern and manuka land, of which a good proportion is ploughable. The soil is tufaceous loam of fair quality, resting on rhyolite formation, and the section is well watered. Elevation ranges from 510 ft. to 860 ft. above sea-level.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION.

The eastern boundary of this block is situated about two miles and a half down the Mokau Valley from the Puketutu Railway-station. The country is generally of rhyolite formation, and the parts growing very heavy fern should prove good. There is a little pumice in the Haupeehi Valley. It is said to grow oats, cow-grass, and turnips fairly well with a little manure, and some of the Native land adjoining is under cultivation. Its nearness to the Main Trunk Railway should be a good help. A good deal of the block is ploughable. Until the roads are formed the settlers are to have the use of surveyor's pack-track. The roads will be easily formed and kept, and horses can now be taken down the Mokau Valley.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this thirteenth day of August, one thousand nine hundred and thirteen.

H. D. BELL,
For Minister of Lands.
