PUBLIC NOTICE.
Lost Policy.
THE Equitable Life Assurance Society of the United States intends to issue, one month after this date, in terms of section 59 of the Life Insurance Act, 1908, a special policy in place of Policy No. 1021942, in the name of MICHAEL FOLEY, declared to have been lost.

DUNEDIN CITY COUNCIL.
Special Rate.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1908, and its amendments, the Dunedin City Council hereby resolves as follows:—
That, for the purpose of providing the interest and other charges on a loan of one hundred and seventy-five thousand pounds (£175,000), authorized to be raised by the Dunedin City Council, under the above-mentioned Act, for the purpose of street-construction, the said Dunedin City Council hereby makes and levies a special rate of four pence half-penny (4½d.) in the pound (£) upon the rateable value of all rateable property of the City of Dunedin; and that such special rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of such loan, and be payable half-yearly on the first (1st) day of March and the first (1st) day of September in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of thirty (30) years, or until the loan is fully paid off.

HOROWHENUA COUNTY COUNCIL.
Resolution Making Special Rate.
IN pursuance and in exercise of the powers vested in it by the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1908, and its amendments, the Horowhenua County Council hereby resolves as follows:—
That, for the purpose of providing for the payment of interest and sinking fund and other charges on a loan of £500, authorized to be raised by the said County Council, under the above-mentioned Act, for the following purposes—constructing protective works on the Waikanae River—the said County Council hereby makes and levies a special rate of 8/13ths of a penny in the pound on the rateable value of the property of the Waikanae Special-rating District comprised in sections being part 78, part 3, 35, 21, 22, 23, 33, 29, part 31, parts 37, 39, 40, 18, 19, 20, 28, 25, 32, part 31, 30, 27, 34, and 44 of Ngarara West A; and that such special rate shall be an annually recurring rate during the currency of such loan, and be payable yearly on the first day of August in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of thirty-six and a half (36½) years, or until the loan is fully paid off.
I hereby certify that the foregoing is a correct copy of a resolution passed at a meeting of the Horowhenua County Council held on the 12th July, 1913.

PUBLIC notice is hereby given that FRED HITCHCOCK, of Auckland, Plumber, at present residing at Ligar Place, has this day changed his name to FRED NICHOLSON, and that he will henceforward be known as Fred Nicholson and not as Fred Hitchcock.

THE MUNICIPAL CORPORATIONS ACT, 1908, AND THE PUBLIC WORKS ACT, 1908.
IN pursuance of the provisions of the above-mentioned Acts the body corporate called the Mayor, Councillors, and Citizens of the City of Auckland hereby gives notice that it intends to widen a portion of Queen Street and Karangahape Road in the City of Auckland, and do all works and things incidental thereto, and that for the purpose and object of so doing the land described in the Schedule hereto will require to be taken by the said Corporation under the provisions of the above Acts; and that a survey has been made and a plan prepared, signed by William Theodore Morpeth for the Chief Surveyor, and numbered 17082 (blue), showing such land, together with the names of the owners and occupiers thereof so far as they can be ascertained; and that a copy of such plan has been deposited in the office of the Town Clerk of the said Corporation at the Town Hall, Queen Street, in the City of Auckland, the place directed by the Corporation, and is there open for inspection; and that all persons affected are hereby required to set forth in writing any well-grounded objections to the execution of such works or the taking of such land, and to send such writing, within forty days from the 7th day of June, 1913 (being the date of the first publication of this notice), to the Town Clerk, Auckland.
