Undulating and hilly to broken land; about 30 acres felled, of which 7 acres has been grassed: balance of section heavy mixed forest comprising rimu, rata, puriri, towai, taraire, kohekohe, rewarewa, &c., with thick undergrowth of kohutuhutu, karamu, mahoe, nikau, punga, kiekie, supplejack, &c. Soil rubbly and reddish clay, on sandstone formation; well watered by stream. Distant four miles and a half from Peria, three miles and a quarter of which is by formed cart-road, balance partly formed bridle-track.

Altitude, 10 ft. to 350 ft. above sea-level. Undulating to hilly land; fern and manuka on ridges, with a few acres of ordinary light mixed forest in gullies and about 5 acres rush swamp. Soil heavy clay of inferior quality, on clay subsoil; well watered by streams. Distant two miles and three-quarters from Whananaki, of which two miles is by tidal river and three-quarters of a mile partly formed bridle-track.

Altitude, 600 ft. to 800 ft. above sea-level. Undulating to hilly land; covered with heavy mixed forest, except fence lines, which have been cleared and grassed, but are now in fern. Forest comprises kahikatea, rimu, matai, puriri, taraire, kohekohe, &c., with a thick undergrowth of kohutuhutu, hoihere, mahoe, punga, nikau, supplejack, kiekie, &c. Soil sandy clay of good quality, on sandstone formation; indifferently watered by small stream liable to dry up in summer. Distant four miles from Okaihau by formed cart-road, or six miles from Rangiatua by partly formed sledge or bridle track.

Altitude, 10 ft. to 400 ft. above sea-level. Undulating land; about 10 acres has been grassed, but is now somewhat overgrown; balance fern and manuka country, with a considerable amount of self-sown danthonia among the fern. Soil of inferior quality, on sandstone formation; well watered by streams. Situated about twelve miles from Russell by water.
