Undulating to hilly and broken land; about 20 acres in poor grass; 10 acres bush felled and burnt, but not sown; 30 acres bush felled, but not burnt, and now in second growth; 140 acres heavy mixed forest comprising totara, puriri, towai, taraire, kohukohu, tipau, &c., with medium undergrowth of kohutu- hutu, mahoe, punga, nikau, kiekie, supplejack, &c.; balance of section covered with hakea, manuka, and fern. Soil red clay mixed with rubble, on sandstone and ironstone formation; well watered by streams; general quality of section is fair. Situated seven miles from Mangonui, three miles of which is by coach-road, balance rough unformed track across gumfields.

A considerable portion of the forest has been burnt, but has come up in second growth. Soil of fair quality, sandy-clay loam and swampy basins, on sandstone formation; well watered by streams. Situated twenty- six miles from Kaihu Railway-station, twenty-one miles of which is formed cart-road, balance formed bridle-track in bad repair.

Clay soil on sandstone formation; well watered by stream. Distant nine miles and a half from Mangonui, five miles and a half of which is by coach-road, thence by bridle-track partly unformed, part very rough, to within 20 chains of section, thence unformed. The kauri mentioned above is a small clump of about 12 trees of milling size, but it is situated in very rough country and is unmarketable.
