and three-quarters from the western end. There are state
schools and post-offices at Rissington and Patoka, and a
telephone-station at the latter.
Right of access is reserved over the formed road to
the Waihau Homestead until the main road from Waihau to
Ngaroto Homestead and the road on the northern boundary
of the settlement running past the Raumati Outstation
are formed and fit for traffic.
The corners of the sections are shown on the ground by
distinguishing marks, giving the section numbers to corre-
spond with the sale posters.

Public Auction.

toral run will be offered for license by public auction
at the local Land Office, Timaru, at 10 o'clock a.m. on Thurs-
day, the 20th day of March, 1913, under the provisions of

DESCRIPTION OF RUN.
Altitude, from 2,500 ft. to 6,300 ft. above sea-level. Rough
pastoral country, situated near Ashwick Settlement, at the
headwaters of Edwards Creek and Sawdon Stream.
There are about 1,000 chains of fencing and two huts on
the run.

Small Grazing-runs in Canterbury Land District for

NOTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned small
grazing-runs are opened for lease for a term of
twenty-one years with right of renewal; and applications
will be received at the District Lands and Survey Office,
Christchurch, and the Local Lands Office, Timaru, on
Wednesday, the 26th day of February, 1913, under the
provisions of the Land Act, 1908.

Run 103.—Altitude, from 1,500 ft. to 5,360 ft. above sea-level.

About 6,000 acres of run is fair tussock country. Mount
Oakden, the northern end of the run, is rough and steep,
with some native forest in the gullies. The country is
subject to heavy falls of snow, which on the western side of
the range may lie on the ground for weeks. The eastern
slopes and spurs, though steep, are fairly safe for stock in
the winter, if kept there. Near the site for the homestead
are some patches of land which could be cultivated and grow
roots and rye. The homestead-site is about thirty-nine
miles from Glentunnel Railway-station by a good metalled
road. The improvements to be paid for by the incoming
lessee are 216 chains subdivisional fencing valued at £102.
Run 104.—Altitude, 1,500 ft. to 4,080 ft. above sea-level.
Tussock-covered spurs, those facing the lake being steep.
Some of the low downs and slopes could be cultivated. The
homestead-site is about thirty-five miles from Glentunnel
Railway-station by good road. The improvements to be
paid for by the incoming lessee are 161 chains of sub-
divisional fencing, and half of 51 chains boundary fence,
valued at £77.

consist of 291 chains of fencing, £71.
Section 4.—Altitude, from 1,200 ft. to 1,800 ft. above sea-
level. About 270 acres of good undulating agricultural land,
the balance good tussock grazing-land; watered by Opawa
River and creeks. Seven miles and a half from Albury by
good road. The improvements which are included in the
value of the section consist of 352 chains of fencing, £76.
Section 5.—Altitude, from 1,000 ft. to 1,600 ft. above sea-
level. Good agricultural land, flat and undulating; watered
by Opawa River, water-race, and springs. Five miles and a
half from Albury by good road. The improvements which
are included in the value of the section consist of 353 chains
of fencing, £133. The improvements which are not included
in the value of the section, but which must be paid for sepa-
rately, consist of a cottage valued at £175, and iron store
valued at £30, which are situated on Section 1A, but must
be removed by the lessee of Section 5 at his own expense.
Section 6.—Altitude, from 1,300 ft. to 1,700 ft. above sea-
level. About 416 acres of good undulating agricultural land,
the balance good tussock grazing-land; watered by small
creeks and springs. Ten miles and a half from Albury. The
improvements which are included in the value of the section
consist of 384 chains of fencing, £77.
Section 1.—Altitude, from 2,000 ft. to 5,000 ft. above sea-
level. With the exception of about 110 acres of good plough-
