good road. The improvements which are included in the
value of the section consist of 1,039 chains of fencing, £133.

Section 1A.—Altitude, from 1,100 ft. to 1,600 ft. above sea-
level. Flat and undulating agricultural country; watered
by Opawa River, water-races, and springs. The improve-
ments which are included in the value of the section consist
of 728 chains fencing, sheep-yards, and dip, £260. The im-
provements which are not included in the value of the sec-
tion, but must be paid for separately, consist of dwelling-
house of eight rooms, £700; wash-house and store-room,
£50; two motor-sheds, £30; men’s quarters, £40; three
loose-boxes, chaff-house, and buggy-shed, £40; two imple-
ment-sheds, £60; shearers’ quarters and bakehouse, £40;
woolshed, £250: total, £1,210.

Section 2.—Altitude, from 2,000 ft. to 5,000 ft. above sea-
level. With the exception of about 250 acres of good plough-
able downs on main road. This section is open tussock
ridges, very broken; well watered. Nine miles and a half
from Albury by good road. The improvements which are
included in the price of the section consist of 654 chains of
fencing, £108.

Section 7.—Altitude, from 1,300 ft. to 1,800 ft. above sea-
level. About 290 acres of it is good undulating agricultural
land, the balance being good tussock grazing-land; well
watered. Twelve miles from Albury by good road. The
improvements which are included in the price of the section
consist of 341 chains of fencing, £80.

Section 8.—Altitude, from 1,300 ft. to 5,000 ft. above sea-
level. About 320 acres of good ploughable flat and downs,
the balance being broken but good pastoral land, open tus-
sock ridges; well watered. Twelve miles from Albury by
good road. The improvements which are included in the
price of the section consist of 1,197 chains of fencing, £172.

Section 9.—Altitude, from 1,300 ft. to 2,000 ft. above sea-
level. 260 acres of good undulating agricultural land, the
balance good pastoral land; well watered. Twelve miles
and a half from Albury. The improvements which are in-
cluded in the price of the section consist of 710 chains of
fencing, valued at £172.

Section 10.—Altitude, about 1,300 ft. to 5,000 ft. above
sea-level. About 380 acres of good ploughable downs; the
balance consists of broken grazing tussock land, about 2,000
acres of which is snow-grass and barren tops, liable to snow.
Thirteen miles from Albury by good road. The improve-
ments which are included in the price of the section consist
of 1,790 chains of fencing, valued at £348.

Section 11.—Altitude, from 1,500 ft. to 5,000 ft. above sea-
level, of which about 140 acres is good ploughable downs;
the balance consists of good pastoral country, tussock ridges,
broken; well watered. Thirteen miles from Albury by good
road. The improvements which are included in the price of
the section consist of 1,112 chains of fencing, £179.

Section 11A.—Altitude, from 1,300 ft. to 1,500 ft. above
sea-level. Good undulating agricultural land; well watered.
About twelve miles and three-quarters from Albury by good
road. The improvements which are included in the price
of the section consist of 102 chains of fencing, £13.

are open for selection on renewable lease; and appli-
cations will be received at the District Lands and Survey
Office, Christchurch, and the local Lands Office, Timaru, on
Saturday, the 15th day of March, 1913, up to 12 o’clock noon,
under the provisions of the Land Act, 1908, and the Land
for Settlements Act, 1908.

DESCRIPTIONS OF SECTIONS.

Section 8.—Altitude, about 1,400 ft. to 1,500 ft. above sea-
level. All level land; has been ploughed and laid down in
grass, except about 15 acres of river-flat. Distant six miles
from Fairlie by formed road. The improvements which are
included in the price of the section consist of 325 chains of
fencing, valued at £81.

Section 1.—Altitude, about 1,600 ft. to 1,900 ft. above sea-
level. All level, shallow soil, all in tussock; well watered.
Eight miles from Fairlie by formed road. The improvements
which are included in the price of the section consist of 281
chains of fencing, valued at £47.

Section 1A.—Altitude, about 1,600 ft. to 6,800 ft. above
sea-level. About 1,000 acres is good tussock downs, about
7,000 acres mountain tops, and the balance rough, broken,
tussock land. Distant nine miles from Fairlie by formed
road. The improvements included in the price of the sec-
tion consist of 250 chains of fencing and three huts, valued
at £72 10s.

Section 2.—Altitude, about 1,600 ft. to 3,900 ft. above sea-
level. Principally pastoral country, but about 500 acres
could be cultivated, being undulating; the balance varies
from fair tussock slopes to rough rocky faces; well watered.
Nine miles from Fairlie by formed road. The improvements
which are included in the price of the section consist of 600
chains of fencing, valued at £110.

Section 3.—Altitude, about 1,600 ft. to 2,500 ft. above sea-
level. About 100 acres of flat, balance tussock hills; some
of the lower slopes have been ploughed and sown in grass;
well watered. Seven miles and a half from Fairlie by formed
road. The improvements which are included in the price
of the section consist of 290 chains of fencing, valued at £39.

Section 4.—Altitude, about 1,500 ft. to 1,600 ft. above sea-
level. Shallow soil; has all been ploughed and laid down
in grass, but now nearly worn out; watered by race and
stream. Seven miles from Fairlie by formed road. The im-
provements which are included in the price of the section
consist of 608 chains of fencing, valued at £135.

Section 5.—Altitude, about 1,600 ft. to 5,500 ft. above sea-
level. All pastoral country; the lower portion carries good
tussock, the slopes of Two Thumb Range carries fair feed
during the summer; well watered. Nine miles and a half
from Fairlie by formed road. The improvements which are
included in the price of the section consist of 280 chains of
fencing, valued at £35.

Section 6.—Altitude, about 1,600 ft. to 1,900 ft. above sea-
level. Generally tussock hills of good quality; about 200
acres of flat along the Opihi River, and 100 acres of undulat.
