Appointments, Promotions, Transfers, and Resignations of
New Zealand Staff and Territorial Force Officers.

Wellington, 6th January, 1913.

HIS Excellency the Governor has been pleased to approve
of the appointments, promotions, transfers, and resig-
nations of the undermentioned Staff and Territorial Force
Officers :-

Staff.

Captain Drummond Cospatrick Spencer-Smith, Royal Field
Artillery, resigns his appointment as Staff Officer to the
General Officer Commanding, New Zealand Military Forces.
Dated 20th December, 1912.

Captain Thomas Edmund Estcourt, 2nd Dragoons (Royal
Scots Greys), to be Staff Officer to the General Officer Com-
manding, New Zealand Military Forces, vice Captain David
Cospatrick Spencer-Smith, Royal Field Artillery, resigned.
Dated 20th December, 1912.

Lieutenant-Colonel William James Strong, v.d., 4th (Otago)
Regiment, Coast Defence Detachment, to be Coast Defence
Commander, vice Colonel the Honourable James Allen,
M.P., t.d. Dated 20th July, 1912.

3rd (Auckland) Mounted Rifles.

2nd Lieutenant Nelson Jeffrey Ellingham to be Lieutenant,
vice Atkinson, transferred to Reserve of Officers. Dated
16th September, 1912.

4th (Waikato) Mounted Rifles.

Captain Albert Francis Tunks is transferred to the Reserve
of Officers. Dated 22nd November, 1912.

2nd Lieutenant Gavin Melville Abbot, from the 6th (Hauraki)
Regiment, to be 2nd Lieutenant. Dated 16th December,
1912.

5th Mounted Rifles (Otago Hussars).

The undermentioned to be 2nd Lieutenants (on probation).

Captain John Charles McKillop is transferred to the Reserve
of Officers. Dated 20th December, 1912.

10th (Nelson) Mounted Rifles.

Lieutenant George Raymond Blackett, from the New Zealand
Garrison Artillery, to be Lieutenant. Dated 20th Decem-
ber, 1912.

11th (North Auckland) Mounted Rifles.

Captain James Neil McCarroll to be Major. Dated 26th
November, 1912.

The notice published in the New Zealand Gazette of the 28th
November, 1912, relative to the appointment of 2nd Lieu-
tenant Allan Thomson Ariell, is cancelled. Dated 16th De-
cember, 1912.

New Zealand Garrison Artillery.

Lieutenant George Raymond Blackett is transferred to the
10th (Nelson) Mounted Rifles. Dated 20th December, 1912.

New Zealand Signal Corps.

Sergeant Alexander Hamilton Kean to be 2nd Lieutenant (on
probation), supernumerary to the establishment. Dated
16th December, 1912.

2nd (South Canterbury) Regiment.

Captain William Fergus Paterson, Reserve of Officers, is
transferred to the New Zealand Medical Corps. Dated
16th December, 1912.

4th (Otago) Regiment.

Lieutenant-Colonel William James Strong, v.d., to be Coast
Defence Commander, vice Colonel the Honourable James
Allen, M.P., t.d. Dated 20th July, 1912.

5th (Wellington) Regiment.

Lieutenant Edward Puttick, from the 15th (North Auckland)
Regiment, to be Lieutenant. Dated 16th December, 1912.

6th (Hauraki) Regiment.

2nd Lieutenant Gavin Melville Abbot is transferred to the
4th (Waikato) Mounted Rifles. Dated 16th December,
1912.

9th (Wellington East Coast) Regiment.

Lieutenant Edwin Charles Pirie resigns his commission.
Dated 2nd December, 1912.

2nd Lieutenant George Wallace Bollinger, from the 16th
(Waikato) Regiment, to be 2nd Lieutenant. Dated 16th
December, 1912.

11th Regiment (Taranaki Rifles).

Captain George Henry Pope retires in accordance with para-
graph 119, General Regulations, 1911. Dated 31st Decem-
ber, 1912.

12th (Nelson) Regiment.

2nd Lieutenant George Cruickshank Griffiths to be Lieuten-
ant. Dated 14th December, 1912.

13th (North Canterbury and Westland) Regiment.

Lieutenant Duncan Buchanan Macfarlane, from the Un-
attached List (b), to be Lieutenant. Dated 16th Decem-
ber, 1912.

Gordon Leslie McClure to be 2nd Lieutenant (on probation),
supernumerary to the establishment. Dated 16th Decem-
ber, 1912.

15th (North Auckland) Regiment.

The undermentioned Lieutenants to be Captains. Dated

Lieutenant Edward Puttick is transferred to the 5th (Wel-

Robert Douglas Gilmer, to complete establishment.

2nd Lieutenant George Wallace Bollinger is transferred to
the 9th (Wellington East Coast) Regiment (First Battalion).

Captain William Fergus Paterson, from the Reserve of Officers,
2nd (South Canterbury) Regiment, to be Captain. Dated
16th December, 1912.

the 13th (North Canterbury and Westland) Regiment.
