HOKIANGA COUNTY.—TUTAMOE SURVEY DISTRICT.

Altitude, 400 ft. to 1,000 ft. above sea-level. About 2 acres flat on Section 5, balance undulating to broken land; about 100 acres in each section poor manuka-bush spurs and old kauri-workings; balance light to heavy mixed forest comprising tarairi, rata, tawa, hinau, manuka, and a few kauri-rickers, kahikatea, rimu, and totara trees, only sufficient for selectors’ requirements; dense undergrowth of kiekie, fern, supplejack, &c. Situated about thirty-seven miles from Whangarei—twelve miles metalled cart-road, twenty-two miles partly metalled cart-road, and balance 6 ft. track.

WHANGAREI COUNTY.—MANGAKAHIA SURVEY DISTRICT.

Altitude, 100 ft. to 300 ft. above sea-level. Undulating fern and manuka country, with a few swampy gullies. Soil clay and pipeclay of inferior quality, on slate formation; indifferently watered in summer by swampy springs. Situated about twenty-one miles from Whangarei by formed cart-road, of which six miles is metalled.

Opening Lands in Auckland Land District for Sale or Selection.

ISLINGTON, Governor.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the Land Act, 1908, I, John Poynder Dickson-Poynder, Baron Islington, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, having received the report of the Under-Secretary in this behalf, as provided by section one hundred and fifty-four of the said Act, do hereby declare that the lands described in the Schedule hereto shall be open for sale or selection on Monday, the twenty-seventh day of January, one thousand nine hundred and thirteen; and also that the lands mentioned in the said Schedule may, at the option of the applicant, be purchased for cash, or be selected for occupation with right of purchase, or on renewable lease; and I do hereby also fix the prices at which the said lands shall be sold, occupied, or leased, as mentioned in the said Schedule hereto, and do declare that the said lands shall be sold, occupied, or leased under and subject to the provisions of the Land Act, 1908.

WAITOMO COUNTY.—MAUNGAMANGERO SURVEY DISTRICT.

Altitude, 800 ft. to 1,000 ft. above sea-level. About 20 acres felled and partly burnt, but now overgrown with scrub; balance heavy mixed forest comprising tawa, rimu, rata, towai, tawhero, kahikatea, with heavy undergrowth of mahoe, supplejack, makomako, punga. Soil of medium quality on limestone formation; well watered by small streams. Fronts Mahoenui—Kawhia Road, about twenty-four miles from Te Kuiti—about twenty miles dray-road, three miles 6 ft. track, balance 3 ft. track.

WAITOMO COUNTY.—PIRONGIA SURVEY DISTRICT.

Altitude, 200 ft. to 400 ft. above sea-level. Undulating to broken land, covered with fern and manuka. Light soil of fair quality, on rhyolite formation; well watered by springs and swampy streams. Situated about five miles from Kiokio Railway-station by fair road, or eight miles from Otorohanga by wagon-road.

Altitude, 1,750 ft. to 1,800 ft. above sea-level. Undulating to level land; about 10 acres cleared, but not grassed, and now in fern and scrub; about 30 acres burnt; balance heavy mixed forest comprising tawa, rata, and a few scattered rimu; all the milling-timber having been cut out; thick undergrowth of scrub. Soil of good quality of a sandy nature; section has no surface water. Situated about a mile and a half from Mamaku Township by formed road.

WHAKATANE COUNTY.—WAIMANA PARISH.

Altitude, 20 ft. to 300 ft. above sea-level. Broken to undulating country; about 10 acres mixed forest comprising tawa, manuka, mapau, rewarewa, mangelo, with thick undergrowth of wharangi, makomako; balance fern land. Soil of fair quality, of a sandy nature on sandstone formation; well watered by streams. Situated about four miles from Kutare Post-office by good formed road.

Notifying Lands in Wellington Land District for Sale by Public Auction.

ISLINGTON, Governor.

IN pursuance of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the one-hundred-and-twenty-sixth section of the Land Act, 1908, I, John Poynder Dickson-Poynder, Baron Islington, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby appoint Wednesday, the twenty-ninth day of January, one thousand nine hundred and thirteen, as the time at which the lands described in the Schedule hereto shall be sold by public auction; and I do hereby fix the prices at which the said lands shall be sold as those mentioned in the said Schedule hereto.
