Situated on the Tokirima Road, about a mile and a quarter from Tokirima Post-office, and about two miles from the school. Access is from Ohura (Mangaroa), which is about eleven miles distant by dray-road. There is a dray-road from Ohura to the Main Trunk line at Ongarue, distant about twenty-nine miles. The section comprises flat to easy slopes and steep country. The soil is of fair to good quality, on a papa formation. The forest is light, consisting of fern, manuka, tutu, kowhai, tawa, tawhero, rewarewa, &c. The section is fairly well watered.

Clifton County.—Mimi Survey District.

Situated on the Wai-iti Road. Access is from Urenui, which is about eleven miles distant via the North Road, four miles of which is metalled and five miles formed dray-road. The section comprises very rough and narrow ridges, with steep spurs running down to stream through middle of section. The soil is of fair quality, on a papa formation. The forest is fairly heavy, comprising rata, tawa, rewarewa, rimu, &c., with a dense undergrowth of supplejack, kiekie, &c. The section is well watered.

Clifton County.—Upper Waitara Survey District.

Situated on the May Road. Access is from Uruti, which is about seven miles and a half distant, about four miles being dray-road and the remainder formed track. The section comprises easy to steep slopes and ridges, with a small portion of undulating country at the north end, where a site for homestead could be obtained. The soil is of good quality, on a papa and sandstone formation. The forest is fairly heavy, consisting of tawa, rata, rimu, towhai, hinau, &c., with a medium undergrowth of supplejack, kiekie, &c. The section is well watered.

Clifton County.—Waro Survey District.

Situated on the Boar Road. Access is from Tongaporutu, distant about fifteen miles and a half by unmetalled dray-road. The sections comprise hilly and broken forest country, covered with fairly heavy forest of birch, tawa, rimu, hinau, rata, &c., with a medium undergrowth. Fair to good soil; formation chiefly papa, with a little sandstone; well watered. The elevation ranges from 100 ft. to 900 ft. above sea-level, the ridges averaging about 400 ft. above the valleys.

Ohura County.—Aria Survey District.

Situated on the Whenuakura East Road. Access is from Matiere, which is about four miles and a half distant—by dray-road for about three miles and a half, the remaining distance being horse-track only. The nearest school and post-office is at Otangiwai, about three miles and a half distant. The section comprises flat to easy and fairly steep country. The soil is of fair to good quality, on a papa formation. The forest is mixed, consisting of fern, manuka, tawhero, tawa, hinau, rata, rimu, &c., with a fairly dense undergrowth of supplejack, ponga, raurekau, koromiko, fern, &c. The section is well watered.

Opening Lands in Auckland Land District for Sale or Selection.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the Land Act, 1908, I, John Poynder Dickson-Poynder, Baron Islington, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, having received the report of the Under-Secretary in this behalf, as provided by section one hundred and fifty-four of the said Act, do hereby declare that the lands described in the Schedule hereto shall be open for sale or selection on Monday, the twenty-seventh day of January, one thousand nine hundred and thirteen; and also that the lands mentioned in the said Schedule may, at the option of the applicant, be purchased for cash, or be selected for occupation with right of purchase, or on renewable lease; and I do hereby also fix the prices at which the said lands shall be sold, occupied, or leased, as mentioned in the said Schedule hereto and do declare that the said lands shall be sold, occupied, or leased under and subject to the provisions of the Land Act, 1908.

Altitude, 200 ft. to 600 ft. above sea-level. Undulating to broken land; fern spurs, with a clump of light mixed forest, and a large amount of gorse in gullies. Soil of second-class quality, on clay subsoil; well watered by streams. Situated about eight miles from Pirongia—about half a mile track, and balance fair road.

Soil heavy clay and pipeclay of inferior quality, on clay subsoil; indifferently watered by springs, liable to dry up in summer. Situated about three miles from Horeke, and about five miles from Kohukohu by tidal river, or three miles from Rangiahua by water and partly formed bridle-track.
