Declaring “Filariasis of Dogs” a Disease for the Purposes
of the Stock Act, 1908.—Notice No. 1674.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government Buildings, at Wellington, this thirtieth
day of November, 1912.

THE HONOURABLE W. H. HERRIES PRESIDING IN COUNCIL.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities
conferred on him by the Stock Act, 1908, His Excellency
the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand,
acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive
Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby order and
declare that the disease known as “filariasis of dogs,” a
disease to which dogs are subject, is a disease for the
purposes of the Stock Act, 1908, and shall be subject to
the regulations made thereunder and now in force; and it
is hereby further declared that this Order in Council shall
come into force on and after the publication hereof in the
New Zealand Gazette.

Opening Settlement Land in Auckland Land District for
Selection.
ISLINGTON, Governor.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities
conferred upon me by the Land Act, 1908, and the
Land for Settlements Act, 1908, I, John Poynder Dickson-
Poynder, Baron Islington, the Governor of the Dominion of
New Zealand, do hereby declare that the settlement land
described in the Schedule hereto shall be open for selection
on renewable lease on Monday, the twenty-seventh day of
January, one thousand nine hundred and thirteen, at the
rental mentioned in the said Schedule; and I do also declare
that the said land shall be leased under and subject to the
provisions of the said Acts.

AUCKLAND LAND DISTRICT. — WAIKATO COUNTY. — CAMBRIDGE
SURVEY DISTRICT. — KARAPIRO SETTLEMENT.

Weighted with £723 10s., valuation for improvements
consisting of six-roomed house, stable, wagon-shed, milking-
shed, outbuildings, hydraulic ram, fruit trees, fencing, and
grassing.
Altitude, 200 ft. to 270 ft. above sea-level. About thirty
acres level land, ploughed, and in good grass; balance
gully-face, carrying a certain amount of rough feed. Soil
black loam of good quality; well-watered. Situated less
than two miles from Cambridge by good road.
As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor,
this twenty-fifth day of November, one thousand
nine hundred and twelve.

Situated on the Wakefield Road, in the Hawtreys Settle-
ment, the access being from the Johnsonville Railway-station,
which is about half a mile distant by a good metalled dray-
road. The section comprises hilly land, in grass, with soil of
fair quality, on a rock formation.
HUTT COUNTY. — LOWER HUTT BOROUGH. — BELMONT SURVEY
DISTRICT. — NORMANDALE SETTLEMENT.

The improvements not included in the price of the land,
but which must be paid for in cash, comprise 23 chains of
fencing, shell shed of sawn timber with iron roof, and exca-
vation for building, valued at £39 7s. 6d.
Situated on the west side of the Miromiro Road, in the
Normandale Settlement, the access being from the Lower Hutt
Railway-station, which is about three-quarters of a mile dis-
tant by a good metalled dray-road. The section comprises
steep sidling land, which has been grassed. The soil is of
light quality, on clay and rock formation. Elevation ranges
from 400 ft. to 700 ft. above sea-level.

this twenty-seventh day of November, one thou-
sand nine hundred and twelve.

under and subject to the provisions of the said Act.

Altitude, 600 ft. to 900 ft. above sea-level. Very broken
land; about 80 acres fern, balance heavy mixed forest com-
prising rata, rimu, tawa, hinau, and some totara, difficult to
get out (about 25,000 sup. ft.); thick undergrowth of kohe-
kohe, lancewood, and rewarewa. Soil of second-class quality
—yellow clay, with pipeclay in places; well watered by
streams. Situated about seven miles from Hikurangi Rail-
way-station—six miles formed cart-road, balance at present
unformed.
WHANGAREI COUNTY. — HUKERENUI SURVEY DISTRICT.

Altitude, 350 ft. to 650 ft. above sea-level. Undulating to
hilly and broken land; about 10 acres light mixed forest,
with several kauri rickers; balance manuka, fern, and rushes.
Soil inferior pipeclay gum land, on clay and grit formation;
well watered by stream. Distant about three miles from
Hikurangi Railway-station by formed and partly metalled
cart-road.
As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor,
this twenty-seventh day of November, one thou-
sand nine hundred and twelve.
