Regulation under the Coal-mines Act, 1908, and its Amendments.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government Buildings, at Wellington, this eleventh day of November, 1912.

In pursuance and in exercise of all powers and authorities conferred upon him by the Coal-mines Act, 1908, and its amendments, His Excellency the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby amend the regulations made on the fourth day of April, one thousand nine hundred and eight, and published in the New Zealand Gazette of the sixth day of April then instant, by adding to clause two of regulation twenty-two the paragraph set out in the Schedule hereto; and doth hereby declare that such regulation shall come into force on the date of the publication thereof in the New Zealand Gazette.
SCHEDULE.
The Public Trustee is, however, authorized to pay any claims notwithstanding the failure to give such notice, provided he is satisfied that the failure was through no fault of the injured person.

Regulations under the Education Act, 1908, and the Education Amendment Act, 1910, as to the Medical and Physical Examination of Public-school Children.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

In pursuance and exercise of the power and authority conferred upon him by the Education Act, 1908, and the Education Amendment Act, 1910, His Excellency the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby make the regulations set forth in the Schedule hereto with respect to the medical and physical examination of public-school children; and, with the like advice and consent, doth prescribe that this Order shall come into force on the date of the first publication thereof in the New Zealand Gazette.
SCHEDULE.
- The head teacher of any public school, or any teacher deputed by him, may, subject to clause 3 (a) and 3 (b) hereof, make such medical and physical examination of the pupils of the school as is required to supply the information herein-after referred to, and may require the parent or guardian of any such pupil to give all reasonable information that may be necessary in pursuance of or in connection with such medical or physical examination.
- (a.) The information to be supplied with regard to every pupil shall be in respect of the following matters:

Sight, right eye:

(b.) The following items of the personal history of every pupil shall also be supplied by the parent or guardian of that child:—
(1.) As to whether the pupil has suffered from any of the following illnesses; and, if so, what was the age of the pupil at the time of such illness: Measles, whooping-cough, chicken-pox, scarlet-fever, mumps, diphtheria, rheumatism, fits, any other illnesses or defects.
(2.) Any exceptional feature in child's behaviour or progress.
(3.) Any consumption in the family.
(4.) The occupation of the father or mother, or both.
(5.) As to whether the pupil works before or after school hours; and, if so, at what occupation. - (a.) Any such male teacher may make such medical or physical examination as that hereinbefore prescribed in respect of any boys in the school.
(b.) Any such female teacher may make such medical or physical examination in respect of any girls in the school, or in respect of any boys who are under ten years of age.

Regulations for the Classification and Regulation of the Post and Telegraph Department amended.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House, at Wellington, this eighteenth day of November, 1912.

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.
Whereas by Order in Council dated the second day of May, one thousand nine hundred and eight, and published in the New Zealand Gazette of the fourteenth day of May, one thousand nine hundred and eight, regulations were made under the authority of the Electric Lines Act, 1884, the Post and Telegraph Classification and Regulation Act, 1890, the Post and Telegraph Classification and Regulation Act Amendment Act, 1891, the Post and Telegraph Department Act, 1894, the Post Office Act, 1900, the Post and Telegraph Department Act, 1902, the Post Office Act Amendment Act, 1906, and the Post and Telegraph Classification Act, 1907, for the purposes of the classification and regulation of the Post and Telegraph Department: And whereas it is expedient to amend such regulations in the manner hereinafter set forth:
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the authority conferred upon him by the Post and Telegraph Act, 1908, and acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby make the additional regulations set forth in the Schedule hereto, and doth order that such regulations shall be read as part of the regulations hereinbefore mentioned, and shall have effect on and after the date of publication thereof in the New Zealand Gazette.
SCHEDULE.
35A. Any officer who, with the knowledge and authority of the Secretary, acts in a higher position at his own station for a longer period than three consecutive months shall be paid, while so acting, the difference between his salary and the minimum of the class above that in which he is placed. But where the acting officer is in receipt of a higher salary than the minimum of the class above he shall be paid an allowance at the rate of £10 per annum while so acting. No officer, however, shall be paid for the same period the special payment of £10 provided for in clause 46 (9) hereof.
46. (9.) An officer of the Seventh Class who has passed the Civil Service Senior Examination or the Senior Technical Examination of the Department, or any examination which the Minister may hereafter declare to be an equivalent, and who has been in receipt of the maximum salary of the class for one year, shall be entitled to receive a special payment of £10 per annum until he is promoted to a higher class.
