Also all that area in the Wellington Land District, containing by admeasurement 14 acres 2 roods 11 perches, more or less, being Section No. 2, Block IX, Wairarapa Survey District. Bounded towards the south-west, north-west, and north-east generally by Section No. 76, Block IX, aforesaid 390·1 links, 512·6 links, 50·1 links, 210 links, 533·5 links, 407·4 links, 50·2 links, 198·6 links, 717·3 links, 556·8 links, 661·4 links, and 48·7 links, to the Western Lake Road ; towards the south-east generally by portion of the Western Lake Road, 989·5 links, 967·7 links, 50 links, 269·2 links, 458·7 links, 362·8 links, 50 links, 191·3 links, and 302·9 links : be all the aforesaid linkages more or less : save and except two rights-of-way to the said road, each 50 links in width.

As the above areas are delineated on the plan marked L. and S. 540/24, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, and thereon bordered red.

Lands reserved under the Scenery Preservation Act, 1908.

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS by the Scenery Preservation Act, 1908 (hereinafter referred to as “the said Act”), a Scenery Preservation Board is constituted, and it is enacted that such Board shall, when so directed by the Minister charged for the time being with the administration of the said Act, inspect any lands possessing scenic or historic interest, or on which there are thermal springs, and make inquiries respecting the same, and report to the Governor ; and shall from time to time recommend what lands, whether Crown or private, shall be permanently reserved as scenic, thermal, or historic reserves : And whereas the said Board was duly directed to inspect and report on the lands described in the Schedule hereunder, and has recommended that the said lands should be permanently reserved for scenic purposes, and it is expedient to give effect to such recommendation :

Now, therefore, I, John Poynder Dickson-Poynder, Baron Islington, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the powers contained in the said Act, do hereby proclaim and declare that the lands described in the Schedule hereunder shall be scenic reserves under the Scenery Preservation Act, 1908, and subject to the provisions thereof.


SCHEDULE.

WAIMARINO SCENIC RESERVES.

ALL that area in the Wellington Land District, containing by admeasurement 50 acres and 8 perches, more or less, being Section 7, Block XVI, Kaitieke Survey District. Bounded towards the west by Crown land, 1995 links ; towards the south by Section 8, Block XVI, Kaitieke Survey District, 2751·5 links ; towards the east and north generally by the Waimarino–Retaruke Road, 601·5 links and 567·9 links ; by Section 9 of said block, 609·57 links, 411·79 links, 341·81 links, and 583·68 links, and again by the Waimarino–Retaruke Road : be all the aforesaid linkages more or less : as the same is delineated on the plan marked L. and S. 533/19A, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, and thereon bordered red.

Also all that area in the Wellington Land District, containing by admeasurement 80 acres 1 rood 2 perches, more or less, being Section 8, Block XVI, Kaitieke Survey District. Bounded towards the north by Section 7, Block XVI, Kaitieke Survey District, 2751·5 links ; towards the east by the Waimarino–Retaruke Road, 2927·9 links ; towards the south by the Waimarino No. 4 Block, by the crossing of a road, again by the Waimarino No. 4 Block, by the crossing of a road, and by that road, 3017·9 links ; and towards the west by Crown land, 2916·7 links : save and except a railway water reserve and portion of a public road which intersect the above-described area : be all the aforesaid linkages more or less : as the same is delineated on the plan marked L. and S. 533/19B, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, and thereon bordered red.

Revoking the Reservation over Portion of a Scenic Reserve in the Auckland Land District.

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS by Proclamation dated the tenth day of July, one thousand nine hundred and eight, and published in the New Zealand Gazette of the sixteenth day of the same month, certain land in the Auckland Land District was set apart as a reserve under the Scenery Preservation Act, 1903, and its amendments :

And whereas the land described in the Schedule hereto (being part of the land so set apart) is no longer suitable for scenic purposes :

Now, therefore, I, John Poynder Dickson-Poynder, Baron Islington, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred on me by section eight of the Scenery Preservation Amendment Act, 1910, do hereby revoke the Proclamation aforesaid in so far as it relates to the land described in the Schedule hereto :

Provided, however, that all existing leases and other rights or privileges that have been granted over portions of the said land under the Scenery Preservation Amendment Act, 1910, or section seventeen of the Reserves and other Lands Disposal and Public Bodies Empowering Act, 1910, shall be unaffected by the said revocation until their expiry or other determination.


SCHEDULE.

ALL that area in the Auckland Land District, containing by admeasurement 3,049 acres and 27 perches, more or less, being the areas of 1,450 acres and 1,685 acres described in the Schedule to the Proclamation dated the 10th day of July, 1908, published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 56, of the 16th July, 1908, page 1913 ; less the area of 85 acres 3 roods 13 perches described in the Schedule to an Order in Council dated the 11th day of July, 1910, and published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 68, of the 14th July, 1910, page 1957.

Given under the hand of His Excellency the Right Honourable John Poynder Dickson-Poynder, Baron Islington, Governor and Commander-in-Chief in and over His Majesty’s Dominion of New Zealand and its Dependencies ; and issued under the Seal of the said Dominion, at the Government House, at Wellington, this eighteenth day of November, in the year of our Lord one thousand nine hundred and twelve.
