Proclaiming Crown Land.

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS by section three hundred and seventy-four of the Native Land Act, 1909 (hereinafter referred to as “the said Act”), it is provided, inter alia, that all Native land purchased by the Crown under the authority of this Act shall, on becoming vested in severalty in the Crown, become Crown land subject to the provisions of the Land Act, 1908, and shall be proclaimed as such by the Governor, and shall thereafter be administered and dealt with accordingly:

And whereas the Native land set out in the Schedule hereto has been purchased and has become vested in severalty in the Crown:

Now, therefore, in pursuance and exercise of the power and authority conferred upon me by section three hundred and seventy-four of the said Act, I, John Poynder Dickson-Poynder, Baron Islington, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby proclaim the land set out in the Schedule hereto to be Crown land subject to the Land Act, 1908.

SCHEDULE.

ALL that piece or parcel of land situate in the Wellington Provincial District, containing together 66 acres, being part of Otamakapua 1n, being Lots 1 and 3 on deposited plan No. 850, and being all the land comprised in certificate of title, Volume 211, folio 192, of the Register-book of the Wellington Land Registration District.

Given under the hand of His Excellency the Right Honourable John Poynder Dickson-Poynder, Baron Islington, Governor and Commander-in-Chief in and over His Majesty’s Dominion of New Zealand and its Dependencies; and issued under the Seal of the said Dominion, at the Government House, at Wellington, this nineteenth day of November, in the year of our Lord one thousand nine hundred and twelve.

Greymouth Prison proclaimed.

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS by an Act of the General Assembly of New Zealand intituled the Prisons Act, 1908, it is provided that the Governor may, by Proclamation published in the Gazette, declare any house, building, enclosure, or place to be a prison, and from and after the gazetting of any such Proclamation, or from any later time specified in the Proclamation, such house, building, enclosure, or place shall be deemed a prison:

Now, therefore, I, John Poynder Dickson-Poynder, Baron Islington, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance of the above-recited power and authority, do hereby declare that the buildings erected upon the land mentioned in the Schedule hereto, and all enclosures used or occupied therewith, shall, from and after the publication of this Proclamation in the Gazette, be a prison, known as the Greymouth Prison, within the meaning and for the purposes of the Prisons Act, 1908.

SCHEDULE.

ALL that area in the Westland Land District, containing by admeasurement 1 rood, more or less, being Lot 1 of Reserve No. 703, Block III, Town of Greymouth North. Bounded by a line commencing at a point on the south-western side of Gresson Street, distant 355·9 links from its junction with the south-eastern side of Arney Street; thence south-easterly along the south-western side of Gresson Street, distance 90 links; thence bearing 206° 16′ 43″, distance 82·08 links; bearing 116° 16′ 43″, distance 47·19 links; bearing 206° 16′ 43″, distance 50·99 links; bearing 116° 16′ 43″, distance 43·49 links; bearing 206° 16′ 43″, distance 61·95 links; bearing 296° 16′ 43″, distance 180·68 links; and bearing 26° 16′ 43″, distance 194·98 links, to the place of commencement.

Given under the hand of His Excellency the Right Honourable John Poynder Dickson-Poynder, Baron Islington, Governor and Commander-in-Chief in and over His Majesty’s Dominion of New Zealand and its Dependencies; and issued under the Seal of the said Dominion, at the Government House, at Wellington, this eighth day of November, in the year of our Lord one thousand nine hundred and twelve.

Amending Part of a Proclamation taking Land for a Road, and closing Road, in Blocks III and IV, Tokatoka, and XV, Maungaru Survey Districts, Hobson County.

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS by section five of the Land Act, 1908, it is therein provided that every Proclamation, Order in Council, or other instrument, whether made under any Act in force prior to the commencement of that Act or made under or by virtue of that Act, and all regulations, by-laws, conditions, or rules made by the Governor, the Minister, or any Land Board, may be altered, amended, or revoked from time to time:

And whereas it is necessary to amend a Proclamation issued under the said Act taking land for a road and closing road in Tokatoka and Maungaru Survey Districts, dated the thirtieth day of July, one thousand nine hundred and twelve, and published in the New Zealand Gazette of the eighth day of August, one thousand nine hundred and twelve, and hereinafter referred to as “the said Proclamation”:

Now, therefore, I, John Poynder Dickson-Poynder, Baron Islington, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the power and authority vested in me by the said Act, do hereby amend the said Proclamation as follows, namely: By adding to the Second Schedule to the said Proclamation an area of one acre three roods thirty-two and six-tenths perches, which area adjoins Sections Nos. S.E. 117 and N.E. 73, situated in Blocks XV, Maungaru, and III, Tokatoka Survey Districts, and coloured green on the plan mentioned therein.

Given under the hand of His Excellency the Right Honourable John Poynder Dickson-Poynder, Baron Islington, Governor and Commander-in-Chief in and over His Majesty’s Dominion of New Zealand and its Dependencies; and issued under the Seal of the said Dominion, at the Government House, at Wellington, this eighteenth day of November, in the year of our Lord one thousand nine hundred and twelve.

Declaring Land reserved for a Public Work, and not required for such Public Work, to be Crown Land.

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS it is provided by section thirty of the Public Works Act, 1908, that if it is found that any land held, taken, purchased, or acquired at any time under this or any other Act or Provincial Ordinance, or otherwise however, for any public work is not required for such public work, the Governor may, by an Order in Council publicly notified and gazetted, cause the same to be sold under the conditions therein mentioned:

And whereas it is further provided by section five of the Public Works Amendment Act, 1909, that in the case of any land so purchased, taken, or acquired for a Government work, and not required for that purpose, the Governor may, on the recommendation of the Minister, and without complying with any other requirements of the aforesaid section thirty, by Proclamation declare such land to be Crown land subject to the Land Act, 1908, and thereupon the land may be administered and disposed of under that Act accordingly:

And whereas the land described in the Schedule hereto was reserved for railway purposes: And whereas such land is now no longer required for railway purposes, and it is desirable to declare the said land to be Crown land: And whereas a plan has been prepared, and the Minister has recommended the Governor to declare such land to be Crown land:

Now, therefore, in pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the above-in-part-recited Acts, and of all other powers in anywise enabling me in this behalf, I, John Poynder Dickson-Poynder, Baron Islington, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby declare the land described in the Schedule hereto to be Crown land subject to the Land Act, 1908, and that such land may be administered and disposed of under that Act accordingly.

SCHEDULE.

ALL that piece or parcel of land in Otira and Turiwhate Survey Districts, containing 1,066 acres, more or less, commencing at the Taipo River and extending along the southern side of the Teremakau Valley to the Otira River, a distance of 13 miles 26 chains, and being a width of 10 chains.
