Notice to Mariners No. 7 of 1912.

KARAMEA HARBOUR.—DISCONTINUANCE OF LEADING BEACON LIGHTS.

NOTICE is hereby given that the two small white lights and triangular beacons just south of the flagstaff in Karamea Harbour will be discontinued from and after Monday, the 5th February, 1912, as they are no longer of any use.

Charts, &c., affected: Admiralty Chart No. 2616; “New Zealand Pilot,” eighth edition, 1908, Chapter x, page 330; “New Zealand Nautical Almanac,” 1912, page 349, and plan facing page 346.

TASMANIA, NORTH COAST.

THE position of Circular Head light is N. 3° W. (mag.) 265 yards from the position (approx.) shown on Admiralty Chart No. 3687, Albatross Island to Circular Head.

The corrected position of Circular Head light is lat. 40° 44′ 6″ S., long. 145° 17′ 42″ E., being S. 33° E. (mag.) 1′67 nautical miles from the beacon on the reef to the eastward of North Point, or N. 24° W. (mag.) 1′6 nautical miles from the centre of the figure 8 of the figures 486 shown on Circular Head (Chart No. 3687).

Variation allowed 8° 15′ E.

Height of focal plane was measured, and found to be 50 ft. above high water.

The sectors are as shown in Admiralty List of Lights, Part VI, 1911, but as these have not been checked from seaward, they must be considered as approximate.

Notice of Intention to take Additional Land in the Borough of Balclutha for Post-office Purposes.

NOTICE is hereby given that it is proposed, under the provisions of the Public Works Act, 1908, to take the land described in the Schedule hereto for post-office purposes. And notice is hereby further given that the plan of the land so required to be taken is deposited in the post-office at Balclutha, and is there open for inspection; and that all persons affected by the taking of the said land should, if they have any well-grounded objections to the taking of such land, set forth the same in writing, and send such writing, within forty days after the first publication of this notice, to the Minister of Public Works, at Wellington.
