WELLINGTON LAND REGISTRATION DISTRICT.

Bounded towards the north-east generally by the Auckland Land Registration District as described in the New Zealand Gazette No. 1, of the 7th January, 1904, from the confluence of the Wanganui River and the Ongaruhe River to the western boundary of the Hawke’s Bay Land Registration District as described in the New Zealand Gazette No. 30, of the 28th April, 1898; thence towards the east and north generally by the said Hawke’s Bay Land Registration District to the sea; thence towards the south-east, south-west, and west generally by the sea to the mouth of the Patea River; and thence by the Taranaki Land Registration District, hereinbefore described, to the place of commencement.

Declaring Carbolic Acid, &c., to be a Poison.

At the Government Buildings, at Wellington, this twenty-third day of January, 1912.

IN pursuance and exercise of the power conferred on him by section two of the Sale of Poisons Act, 1908, His Excellency the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby declare that carbolic acid and liquid preparations of carbolic acid and its homologues containing more than three per cent. of those substances shall be deemed to be poisons within the meaning of Part I of the said Act; and doth further declare that, in pursuance of subsection three of the said section, this Order shall have effect on the expiration of three months from the publication thereof in the Gazette.

Exempting Part of Queen Street, in the Ellerslie Town District, from the Provisions of Section 117 of the Public Works Act, 1908.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government Buildings, at Wellington, this twenty-third day of January, 1912.

WHEREAS by subsection one of section one hundred and seventeen of the Public Works Act, 1908, it is, inter alia, provided that the said section shall not apply in any case where the local authority having control of a road or street by resolution declares that the provisions thereof shall not apply to any specified road or street, or any specified part thereof, and such resolution is approved by the Governor in Council :

And whereas the Ellerslie Town Board, the local authority having control of the portion of street described in the Schedule hereto, did by resolution declare that the provisions of the said section one hundred and seventeen should not apply to the said portion of street :

And whereas it is deemed expedient that such resolution should be approved :

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and in exercise of the powers conferred by the above-in-part-recited Act, and acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby approve of the said resolution in so far as it affects the said portion of the street described in the Schedule hereto.

SCHEDULE.

ALL that portion of Queen Street, in the Ellerslie Town District, commencing at its junction with Albert Street, and adjoining Subdivisions 21, 22, 23, 24, Sommerfield Street, Subdivisions 2 and 1 of Allotments 6 and 7 of Section 12, Suburbs of Auckland (Lyncroft Estate), being a distance of 8 chains, more or less; as the said portion of street is more particularly delineated on the plan marked P.W.D. 31052, deposited in the office of the Minister of Public Works, at Wellington, in the Wellington Provincial District, and thereon coloured red.

License authorizing the Christchurch Tramway Board to erect an Electric Line from the Overhead Line in the Christchurch—New Brighton Road to a Motor in Wai-noni Park.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government Buildings, at Wellington, this twenty-third day of January, 1912.

PRESIDING IN COUNCIL.

WHEREAS by section two of the Public Works Amendment Act, 1911, it is provided that no person shall lay, construct, put up, place, or use any electric line except under the authority of a license issued to him by the Governor in Council under that Act :

And whereas the Christchurch Tramway Board (hereinafter referred to as “the said Board”) desires to erect an electric line from its overhead wire on the Christchurch—New Brighton Road to a motor in Wainoni Park, about thirty-three chains distant, and it is expedient accordingly to issue a license in respect thereof under the said section :

Now, therefore, in pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred upon him by the said section, and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, His Excellency the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth, subject to the conditions set forth in the Schedule hereto, hereby authorize the Christchurch Tramway Board to erect and maintain an electric line for lighting and power purposes from the overhead tramway wire in the Christchurch—New Brighton Road to a motor in Wainoni Park, as indicated by a red line on the plan marked P.W.D. 30887, deposited in the office of the Minister of Public Works, at Wellington, in the Wellington Provincial District.

SCHEDULE.

CONDITIONS.

  1. The power installed shall not exceed 30-horse power.
  2. The supply shall be given by means of stranded copper cables of 0·05 square-inch sectional area, insulated with vulcanized rubber of 300-megohm grade, and suspended on efficient insulators at a minimum height of 20 ft. from the ground.
  3. The positive line shall be provided at the point where it connects with the tramway feeder with a switch and fuse adjusted to open the circuit at a current of 100 amperes, and at the motor end with a switch and automatic circuit-breaker adjusted to open circuit at a current of 60 amperes, and provided with a no-voltage release.
  4. The negative line shall be bonded direct to the tramway rails without switch or other means of opening the circuit.
  5. The motor wiring and connections shall be thoroughly insulated and protected by an enclosure, to which only the authorized attendants can obtain access.
  6. The construction of the works hereby authorized shall be substantially commenced on or before the 1st day of March, 1912, and shall be completed on or before the 1st day of March, 1913.
  7. The said Board shall, prior to the completion of the said works, give to the Minister of Public Works (hereinafter referred to as “the Minister”) at least one month’s notice in writing of the estimated date of such completion.
  8. The said Board shall not use the said electric line, or permit the same to be used, for any purpose until the Minister has given notice in writing to the said Board that he has received from the Engineer appointed by him to inspect the works a certificate that they have been satisfactorily carried out.
  9. This license, and the benefits and obligations hereunder, shall not be assigned by the said Board without the express consent in writing of the Minister first had and obtained; but such consent shall not be withheld if it is proved to the satisfaction of the Minister that the transferee is financially and otherwise able to carry out the obligations specified in this license.
