Lieutenant (temporary Captain) Donald Polson, D.S.O., retires on account of ill health, with the rank of Major, which he held in the New Zealand Militia. Dated 31st July, 1912.

New Zealand Garrison Artillery.

Formation of a Coast Defence Detachment.

HIS Excellency the Governor has been pleased to approve, under section 6 (a) of the Defence Act, 1909, of the formation of a Coast Defence Detachment of the 4th Regiment (Otago Rifles), consisting of four infantry companies, with headquarters at Dunedin.

The establishment of officers will be as follows :-

Captains (3).
Lieutenants (4).
2nd Lieutenants (4).
