Land taken for the Purposes of a Road in Block VIII,
Turanganui Survey District, Cook County.

A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS the land described in the Schedule hereto
is required to be taken under the Public Works
Act, 1908, for a certain public work, to wit, for the purposes
of a road in Block VIII, Turanganui Survey District:
And whereas the Cook County Council has laid before
the Governor a memorial, accompanied by a map, and
also the statutory declaration, as required by the said Act:
Now, therefore, I, John Poynder Dickson-Poynder, Baron
Islington, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand,
in pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities
vested in me by the Public Works Act, 1908, and of every
other power and authority in anywise enabling me in this
behalf, do hereby proclaim and declare that the land
described in the Schedule hereto is hereby taken for the
purposes of a road; and I do also declare that this Pro-
clamation shall take effect on and after the twelfth day of
September, one thousand nine hundred and twelve.

are more particularly delineated on the plan marked and
coloured as above mentioned, and deposited in the office
of the Minister of Public Works, at Wellington, in the
Wellington Provincial District.
Given under the hand of His Excellency the Right
Honourable John Poynder Dickson-Poynder,
Baron Islington, Governor and Commander-in-
Chief in and over His Majesty’s Dominion of
New Zealand and its Dependencies; and issued
under the Seal of the said Dominion, at the
Government House, at Wellington, this sixteenth
day of August, in the year of our Lord one
thousand nine hundred and twelve.

WHEREAS the land described in the Schedule hereto
is required to be taken, under the Public Works
Act, 1908, for a certain public work, to wit, for the pur-
poses of a road in Block XIII, Waiawa Survey District:
And whereas all conditions precedent required by law
to be observed and performed prior to the taking of such
land for the purposes hereinbefore specified have been
observed and performed:
Now, therefore, I, John Poynder Dickson-Poynder,
Baron Islington, the Governor of the Dominion of New
Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the powers and
authorities vested in me by the Public Works Act, 1908,
and of every other power and authority in anywise
enabling me in this behalf, do hereby proclaim and declare
that the land described in the Schedule hereto is hereby
taken for the purposes of the said road; and I do also
hereby declare that this Proclamation shall take effect on
and after the twelfth day of September, one thousand nine
hundred and twelve.

Apportionment of Loan between the Councils of the
Counties of Mackenzie and Geraldine.
ISLINGTON, Governor.
ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House, at Wellington, this nineteenth
day of August, 1912.
Present:
His Excellency the Governor in Council.
WHEREAS by section ninety-one of the Local Bodies’
Loans Act, 1908 (hereinafter called “the said
Act”), it is provided that where part of the area over
which a special rate is made as security for a loan is
merged or included within the district of a local authority
other than the local authority that made the rate, then,
upon the written application of the local authority that
raised the loan, or of the Minister, the Governor in Council
may adjust or apportion the liability in respect of such
loan among the respective local authorities affected by such
merger or inclusion: And whereas part of the area over
which a special rate was made by the Geraldine County
Council as security for a loan of eight thousand pounds,
granted by the Minister of Finance for reconstructing
Rangitata and Opihi Bridges, has been included in the
Mackenzie County: And whereas the inscribed amount of
such loan is eight thousand and sixty-four pounds two
shillings and one penny: And whereas the notices of the
proposed apportionment of the liability in respect of such
loan between the Geraldine County Council and the Mac-
kenzie County Council were duly given as required by the
said section ninety-one and the regulations under the said
Act, and no objections thereto were made: And whereas
written application has been made to the Governor in
Council to apportion the liability in respect of such loan:
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the
Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of
the powers and authorities conferred on him by the said
Act, and acting by and with the advice and consent of the
Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby
apportion the liability in respect of the above-recited loan
as follows: The sum of seven thousand one hundred and
forty-nine pounds two shillings and tenpence shall continue
to be a liability of the Geraldine County Council, and the
sum of nine hundred and fourteen pounds nineteen shillings
and threepence shall be a liability of the Mackenzie County
Council.

Authorizing the Laying-off of a Road in the Borough of
Richmond of a Width less than 66 ft., but not less
than 50 ft.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House, at Wellington, this nineteenth
day of August, 1912.
Present:
His Excellency the Governor in Council.
WHEREAS by section one hundred and seventy-eight
of the Municipal Corporations Act, 1908, it is,
inter alia, provided that where the configuration of any
borough is such that within any particular area or areas
thereof it is difficult or inexpedient to construct streets of
a width of sixty-six feet, as required by the said Act, the
Governor may, by Order in Council defining the limits of
such area or areas, authorize the Council to permit within
such area or areas the construction of streets and private
streets of a width less than sixty-six feet, but not less than
fifty feet;
