Medicines, &c., for Home-trade Ships of 30 Tons register and upwards.
IN pursuance and exercise of the power and authority conferred upon me by section 112 of the Shipping and Seamen Act, 1908, as amended by the Second Schedule of the Shipping and Seamen Amendment Act, 1909, I, George Laurensen, Minister of Marine, do hereby issue the following scale of medicines and medical stores which shall be carried by home-trade ships of 30 tons register and upwards.

NOTE.—Ships making voyages of less than twenty-four hours from port to port have the option of carrying only the small ambulance hamper of the St. John’s Ambulance Association, or its equivalent, in lieu of the above scale.
Bonus for the Production of Quicksilver.

Wellington, 18th April, 1912.
NOTICE is hereby given that a bonus of fourpence (4d.) per pound will be paid on the production of the first one hundred thousand pounds weight (100,000 lb.) of good marketable retorted quicksilver, free from all impurities, from any mine in New Zealand, on the following conditions; that is to say:—

That at least one-third of the quantity is produced on or before the 31st March, 1914, and the remaining two-thirds on or before the 31st March, 1915.

No bonus will be payable until the whole of the one hundred thousand pounds (100,000 lb.) of quicksilver has been produced as stipulated to the satisfaction of an officer to be appointed by the Minister of Mines, and on whose certificate alone the bonus will be paid.

In the event of more than one person producing the required quantities of quicksilver before the dates named, inquiry will be made by the officer above referred to, when, if it is found that each applicant is equally entitled to a bonus, the amount will be divided in proportion to the quantities produced by each applicant, but in no case shall any bonus be paid until at least one hundred thousand pounds (100,000 lb.) of quicksilver has been produced in the aggregate.

Notice of Settlement of Claims for Compensation.
Mines Department,
Wellington, 18th June, 1912.
IN pursuance of the provisions of section 293 of the Mining Act, 1908, it is hereby notified that the claims for compensation enumerated in the Schedule hereto, in respect to a Proclamation issued under the hand of His Excellency the Governor and the Public Seal of the Dominion on the 14th day of June, 1911, declaring Waimea Creek and its tributaries, in the Land District of Westland, to be watercourses into which tailings, &c., may be discharged, have been settled, and all further claims and remedies in respect of the said Proclamation are barred as provided by the said Act.
