exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1908, and the amendments there-of, and of all other powers thereto enabling, the Whangarei County Council hereby resolves as follows: That, for the purpose of providing the interest and principal and other charges upon a loan of £1,500, authorized by the Whangarei County Council, under the above-mentioned Acts, for the purpose of forming and metalling the main roads within the special-rating area known as the Kaitara Special-rating District, the said Whangarei County Council hereby makes and levies a special rate of 1¼d. in the pound upon the rateable value of all rateable property within the special-rating district comprising the area within the following boundaries—bounded commencing at the north-western corner of Section 30, Block IX, Purua Survey District; thence generally easterly along the northern boundary of said Section 30 and the northern boundary of Sections 2 and 1 of said Block IX, and by the northern boundary of Sections 15, 16, 17, 14, 13, and 12 of Block X, Purua Survey District; thence along the northern and eastern boundary-lines of Sections 10 and 20 of Blocks VI and X, Purua Survey District, to the south-west corner of Section 19, Block VI, Purua Survey District, being an education reserve; thence still generally easterly by the northern boundary of Sections 20, 22, and 23, Parish of Kaitara, to the north-east corner of said Section 23; thence by a straight line through Kaitara Kauri-gum Reserve No. 2 to the north-west corner of Section 36, Parish of Kaitara; thence by the northern boundary-line of said Section 36 to the north-east corner of said Section 36; thence generally southerly, westerly, and northerly by the Maunu Special-rating District to the point of commencement: and that such special rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of such loan, and be payable yearly on the 1st day of November in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of thirty-six years and a half, or until the loan is fully paid off.

I hereby declare and certify that the foregoing resolution was adopted at a properly constituted meeting of the Whangarei County Council held this 19th day of January, 1912.

MOUNT EDEN BOROUGH COUNCIL.

Notice of Result of Poll on Proposal to raise Loan.

PURSUANT to section 13 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1908, and amendments thereto, I hereby give notice that at a poll of the ratepayers of the Borough of Mount Eden taken on the 13th day of January, 1912, on the proposal of the Mount Eden Borough Council to borrow the sum of £42,000 for the respective purposes following, namely,—

(a.) £40,000 for the permanent formation, metalling, and improvement of the streets and roads in the borough—

the number of votes recorded for the proposal was 320, and the number of votes recorded against the proposal was 150.

(b.) £2,000 for the erection of suitable buildings, to be used for municipal buildings, on lands already acquired by the Mount Eden Borough Council—

the number of votes recorded for the proposal was 305, and the number of votes recorded against the proposal was 137.

I hereby declare that the proposal to borrow was carried.

NEW BRIGHTON BOROUGH COUNCIL.

Result of Poll.

In the matter of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1908.

PURSUANT to section 13 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1908, I hereby give notice that at a poll of the ratepayers of the North and West New Brighton Special-rating Area, duly constituted under the said Act, being part of the Borough of New Brighton, taken on the 17th day of January, 1912, on the proposal of the New Brighton Borough Council to borrow the sum of £4,500 for the purpose of forming, metalling, kerbing, and channelling certain streets and footpaths in the above area, particulars of which were duly advertised as required by the said Act, the number of votes recorded for the proposal was 104, and the number of votes recorded against the proposal was 8.

I therefore declare the proposal carried.

PURSUANT to section 13 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1908, I hereby give notice that at a poll of the ratepayers of the special-rating area of the One-tree Hill Road District, in the County of Eden, taken on the 17th day of January, 1912, on the proposal of the One-tree Hill Road Board to borrow the sum of £20,000 for drainage purposes, the number of votes recorded for the proposal was 35, and the number of votes recorded against the proposal was 1.

I therefore declare that the proposal was carried.

PURSUANT to section 13 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1908, I hereby give notice that at a poll of ratepayers of the Borough of Waimate taken on the 11th day of December, 1911, on the proposal to borrow the sum of £850 for the purchase of land for waterworks purposes, the number of votes recorded for the proposal was 31, and the number of votes recorded against the proposal was nil.

I therefore declare the proposal carried.
