Authorizing the Laying-off of Sunnyvale Road, in the Town of Remuera Extension No. 10, of a Width of not less than 66 ft.

IN pursuance of the power and authority conferred upon me by section 15 of the Land Act, 1908, I hereby authorize the laying-off of Sunnyvale Road, in the Town of Remuera Extension No. 10, Auckland Land District, of a width of not less than 66 ft. instead of 99 ft.

Notice of Intention to take Land in Block IV, Manganui Survey District, for Scenic Purposes.

NOTICE is hereby given that it is proposed, under the provisions of the Public Works Act, 1908, the Scenery Preservation Act, 1908, and the Scenery Preservation Amendment Act, 1910, to take the land described in the Schedule hereto for scenic purposes. And notice is hereby further given that the plan of the land so required to be taken is deposited in the post-office at Raurimu, and is there open for inspection; and that all persons affected by the taking of the said land should, if they have any well-grounded objections to the taking of such land, set forth the same in writing, and send such writing, within forty days from the first publication of this notice, to the Minister of Public Works, at Wellington.

In the Wellington Land District; as the same is more particularly delineated on the plan marked and coloured as above mentioned, and deposited in the office of the Minister of Public Works, at Wellington, in the Wellington Provincial District.

Notice of Intention to take Land in Block XIV, Mangaoporo Survey District, Waiapu County, for the Purposes of a Native School.

NOTICE is hereby given that it is proposed, under the provisions of the Public Works Act, 1908, to execute a certain public work, to wit, the construction of a Native school in Block XIV, Mangaoporo Survey District, and for the purposes of such public work the land described in the Schedule hereto is required to be taken. And notice is hereby further given that the plan of the land so required to be taken is deposited in the post-office at Kahukura, and is there open for inspection; and that all persons affected by the execution of the said public work or by the taking of the said land should, if they have any well-grounded objections to the execution of the said public work or to the taking of the said land, set forth the same in writing, and send such writing, within forty days from the first publication of this notice, to the Minister of Public Works, at Wellington.

CUSTOMS.—In exercise of the powers in me for this purpose vested by the Customs Law Act, 1908, I, Roderick McKenzie, acting in the place of the Minister of Customs, do hereby appoint that the undermentioned building shall be a place where goods may be deposited for examination on the landing thereof, namely,—

Wharf Shed, Patea,

made of wood and iron, situated partly upon Section 111, Patea Township Extension, Block VII, Carlyle, and partly upon Subdivision G of the Patea Harbour Board endowment block (reclaimed land).

Subsidies to Public Libraries.

Wellington, 8th November, 1911.

NOTICE is hereby given that the sum of £4,000 has been voted by Parliament for distribution to public libraries.

The distribution will take place on the 3rd February, 1912, and no claim will be entitled to consideration that shall not have been sent in in due form and received by the Secretary for Education, Wellington, on or before the 27th January, 1912.

  1. A library to be entitled to a subsidy must be public in the sense of belonging to the public, and of not being under the control of an association, society, or club whose membership is composed of a section of the community only, and if within a borough it must be open to the public free of charge. The receipts for the year from subscriptions and donations must not have been less than £2, exclusive of moneys received from endowments, or from Government, or from Borough or County Councils, or for special building purposes, or as rent, hire, or consideration for the use of any room, or building, or land belonging to the institution, in respect of none of which will subsidy be
