lows: That, for the purpose of providing the interest and other charges on a loan of £400, authorized to be made by the Birkenhead Borough Council, under the above-mentioned Act, for the following public works—viz., for the completion of the necessary cuttings, fillings, general construction, metalling, kerbing, channelling, formation of, and tarring and sanding footpaths, and to pay compensation (if any) and incidental expenses in connection with the works rendered necessary in the carrying-out of the scheme for providing a suitable grade from the new wharf along the main road to a point at the upper side of Bath Road, and from that point to the junction of Harbour View Road and the main road, according to the plan and detail lying at the office of the Town Clerk—the said Birkenhead Borough Council hereby makes and levies a special rate of ¼d. in the pound upon the rateable value of all rateable property in the Borough of Birkenhead, comprising Blocks 1, 2, 3, 57 to 67; Sections 1, 2, 5, 7 to 13 of Block 121; 128 to 164 and 227 to 230 (all inclusive) of Blocks VII, XI, and XII, Waitemata District: and that such special rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of such loan, and be payable yearly on the 1st day of July in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of thirty-six years and a half, or until the loan be fully paid off.

Resolution made by the Council of the Borough of Waipawa.

THE following resolution, made by the Waipawa Borough Council, is published in accordance with the provisions of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1908, and its amendment.

WAIPAWA BOROUGH COUNCIL.
Copy of Resolution.
In pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1908, and its amendments, the Waipawa Borough Council hereby resolves as follows: That, for the purpose of providing the interest and other charges on a loan of £1,250, authorized to be raised by the Waipawa Borough Council, under the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1908, and its amendments, for the purpose of effecting improvements and additions to the municipal buildings, Kenilworth Street, Waipawa (and in particular to the municipal theatre), and to purchase tip-up (or other) seats and various other fittings for the said theatre, the said Waipawa Borough Council hereby makes and levies a special rate of 5/32 of a penny in the pound on the rateable value of all rateable property within the boundaries of the Borough of Waipawa; and that such special rate shall be annually recurring rate during the currency of the said loan, and be payable yearly on the 1st day of December in each and every year during the currency of the said loan, being a period of thirty years (computed from the 1st day of July, 1912), or until the loan is fully paid off.

THE following resolution, made by the Pleasant Point Town Board, is published in accordance with the provisions of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1908, and its amendment.

PLEASANT POINT TOWN BOARD.
In pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by section 4 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Amendment Act, 1910, the Pleasant Point Town Board hereby resolves as follows: That, for the purpose of providing the instalments in respect of principal and interest and also the other charges on a loan of £500, authorized to be raised by the Pleasant Point Town Board, under the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1908, and its amendments, for the purpose of kerbing and asphalting about 120 chains of footpaths in Dominion Street, Halstead Street, Tengawai Road, Harris Street, and Railway Terrace, the said Pleasant Point Town Board hereby makes and levies a special rate of ¼d. in the pound upon the rateable capital value of all rateable property of the Central Pleasant Point Special-rating Area, comprising the lands mentioned in the special roll which was deposited for public inspection at the office of the Pleasant Point Town Board from the 6th day of February to the 13th day of February, 1912, both inclusive; and that such special rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of such loan, and be payable yearly on the 1st day of April in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of thirty-six years and a half, or until the loan is fully paid off.
The above resolution was passed at a duly convened meeting of the Pleasant Point Town Board held at the Town Board Office, at Pleasant Point, on the 30th day of April, 1912.

In the Matter of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1908, and its Amendments.
NOTICE is hereby given that, on the 24th day of April, 1912, a proposal was submitted by the Devonport Borough Council to the ratepayers of the Borough of Devonport for raising a special loan of £41,200 for—
(a.) The permanent formation, metalling, and improvement of the roads and streets in the borough, including surface-water drainage and sea protection and improvement works in Shoal Bay Park. For such purposes, £40,000, such sum to be allocated as follows: Main Roads—Victoria Wharf to Boundary and Old Lake Road, £6,000; Victoria Wharf, Cheltenham Beach, and Tainui Road, £5,000; Devonport Wharf to Grove Road, £2,500; Calliope Road to Stanley Bay, £2,000. Residential Areas—No. 1, Stanley Point, £800; No. 2, Sunnyside, £1,500; No. 3, Hastings, £2,000; No. 4, Queen’s Parade to Calliope Dock, £2,500; No. 5, Mount Victoria, £2,000; No. 6, Cheltenham, £1,000; No. 7, Melrose, £2,000; No. 8, Takapuna Point, £1,500; No. 9, Lake Road, £600; No. 10, Victoria Park, £1,000; No. 11, Shoal Bay Park, £1,500; street crossings, gullies, surface-water drainage, and sea protection, £4,200; contingencies, supervision, &c., £4,000.
(b.) The erection of a suitable building at Cheltenham Beach, providing bathing-accommodation, sanitary conveniences, and a tea-kiosk. For such purpose, £1,200.
