Health, a local authority may, for the purpose of constructing the said work, borrow money by special loan without taking any poll of the ratepayers or obtaining their consent to the work or the loan: And whereas the District Health Officer has recommended the Christchurch City Council to make the following additions to the refuse-destructor—namely, installation of two single extra cells, fitting-up automatic refuse-stokers, and other work that is necessary in connection with the above; and the Honourable the Minister of Public Health has approved of the City Council going on with the said works: Now, therefore, the said Christchurch City Council doth hereby by special order resolve to borrow by way of special loan the sum of £5,000, to be expended in carrying out the above-mentioned works. The said loan is to be for a period of eighteen years, bearing interest in the meantime at a rate not exceeding £4 10s. per centum per annum.
(b.) That, for the purpose of providing the interest at a rate not exceeding £4 10s. per centum per annum and other charges on the aforesaid loan of £5,000 so authorized to be raised by the Christchurch City Council, under the above-mentioned Acts, for the following additions to the refuse-destructor—namely, installation of two single extra cells, fitting up automatic refuse-stokers, and other work that is necessary in connection with the above—the said Christchurch City Council hereby makes and levies a special rate of 1/39 of a penny in the pound upon the rateable value (being the unimproved value) of all rateable property comprised within the boundaries of the City of Christchurch as defined in the New Zealand Gazette dated the 29th day of June, 1911, page 2058; and that such special rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of such loan, and be payable yearly on the 1st day of July in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of eighteen years, or until the loan is fully paid off.
I hereby certify that the above resolution was duly passed at a special meeting of the Christchurch City Council held on the 1st day of April, 1912, and was duly confirmed at an ordinary meeting of the Council held on the 29th day of April, 1912.

THE following special order, made by the Dannevirke Borough Council, is published in accordance with the provisions of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1908.

DANNEVIRKE BOROUGH COUNCIL.
Special Order making a Special Rate.
In pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1908, the Dannevirke Borough Council hereby resolves as follows: That, for the purpose of providing the interest and other charges on a loan of £2,000, authorized to be raised by the Dannevirke Borough Council, under the above-mentioned Act, for the completion of the town-hall scheme as amended with the inclusion of municipal offices therein, the said Dannevirke Borough Council hereby makes and levies a special rate of 1/12 of a penny in the pound upon the rateable value of all rateable property of the Borough of Dannevirke, comprising the whole of the said borough; and that such special rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of such loan, and be payable half-yearly on the 1st day of January and the 1st day of July in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of forty-one years, or until the loan is fully paid off.
I, Ethelbert Alfred Ransom, Mayor of the Borough of Dannevirke, do hereby certify that the above special order was duly made and passed at a special meeting of the Dannevirke Borough Council held on the 23rd day of June, 1911, and duly confirmed on the 28th day of July, 1911, at an ordinary meeting of the said Council.
In testimony whereof the common seal of the Mayor, Councillors, and Burgesses of the Borough of Dannevirke has been hereunto affixed.

WAITARA BOROUGH COUNCIL.
Ten per Cent. Additional Loan re Water, Street Improvement, Drainage and Sanitation Loan, £1,855.
Notice is hereby given that the following resolution was duly passed at a meeting of the Waitara Borough Council held on the 3rd day of April, 1912:—
That, in pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1908, and the New Zealand State-guaranteed Advances Act, 1909, and amendments thereof, the Waitara Borough Council resolves as follows: That, for the purposes of providing for the interest and sinking fund and other charges on a loan of £1,855, authorized to be raised by the Waitara Borough Council, under the above-mentioned Acts and amendments, for the following works—namely, water, street improvements, drainage and sanitation works (being 10 per cent. additional on water, drainage and sanitation, and street works loan of £18,570, as that amount is insufficient to complete the works)—the said Waitara Borough Council hereby makes and levies a special rate of 9/64 of a penny in the pound upon the capital value of all rateable property within the Borough of Waitara; and that such rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of such loan, and be payable half-yearly on the 15th day of May and the 15th day of November in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of thirty-six years and a half, or until the loan is fully paid off.
I hereby certify that the above is a true copy of a resolution passed at a properly constituted meeting of the Waitara Borough Council held on Wednesday, the 3rd day of April, 1912.
