Forbidding Money-order and Postal Correspondence for David Ross and Ross and Bradshaw, Wellington.
THE Postmaster-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, having reasonable ground for supposing that the person and firm shown in the Schedule hereunder are engaged in receiving money as the consideration for an assurance or agreement implied to pay money on events relating to horse races, it is hereby ordered, under section 28 of the Post and Telegraph Act, 1908, that no postal packet addressed to the said person, or to the said firm, or addressed to such address without a name, shall be either registered, forwarded, or delivered by the Post Office of New Zealand.

Notice to Mariners No. 39 of 1912.
MANUKAU HARBOUR.—BEACON BELOW ONEHUNGA WHARF.

NOTICE is hereby given that a beacon, painted black, has been erected to mark the end of the outfall-pipe of the sewer at Onehunga. The top of the beacon is 20 ft. above high water, ordinary springs. The position of the beacon is right abreast of the first red buoy below the wharf, and in a direct line with the red light on the end of the wharf and the pinnacle on the summit of Cape Horn.
The bearing of the beacon is S. 68° W. (magnetic) from the red light on the end of the wharf, and masters of vessels coming up the channel should keep it on the port hand.

THE Auckland Harbour Board have notified that a dolphin has been erected in Mechanics Bay, in connection with the reclamation-work. The following bearings mark the position of dolphin:—
Railway Wharf flash-light 323° 56′ = N. 51¼° W. (magnetic).
Mount Eden … … 202° 19′ = S. 7° E. (magnetic).

Notice fixing Closing-hours of Fancy-goods Dealers’ and Booksellers’ Shops in the Borough of Balclutha under the Shops and Offices Act.
WHEREAS a requisition in writing, signed by a majority of the occupiers of all the fancy-goods dealers’ and booksellers’ shops, combined and separately, in the Borough of Balclutha, has been forwarded to me, desiring that all such shops shall be closed in the evening of working-days as follows: Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays, 8 o’clock p.m.; Saturdays, 10.30 p.m.: And whereas the Balclutha Borough Council has certified that the signatures to such requisition represent a majority of the occupiers of all the fancy-goods dealers’ and booksellers’ shops, combined and separately, within the Borough of Balclutha:
Now, therefore, I, George Laurensen, Minister of Labour, in pursuance of section 25 of the Shops and Offices Act, 1908, do hereby direct that, from and after the 13th day of May, 1912, all fancy-goods dealers’ and booksellers’ shops, combined and separately, in the Borough of Balclutha shall be closed in accordance with such requisition.

Varied Notice (No. 2) fixing Closing-hours of Grocers’ Shops in the Borough of Woolston under the Shops and Offices Act.
WHEREAS a requisition in writing, signed by a majority of the occupiers of all the grocery shops in the Borough of Woolston, has been forwarded to me, desiring that all such shops shall be closed in the evening of working-days as follows: Monday, 7.30 p.m.; Tuesday, 7.30 p.m.; Wednesday, 7.30 p.m.; Friday, 7.30 p.m.; Saturday, 10 p.m.: And whereas the Woolston Borough Council has certified that the signatures to such requisition represent a majority of the occupiers of all the grocery shops within the Borough of Woolston:
Now, therefore, I, George Laurensen, Minister of Labour, in pursuance of section 25 of the Shops and Offices Act, 1908, do hereby direct that, from and after the 13th day of May, 1912, all such shops in the Borough of Woolston shall be closed in accordance with such requisition.
The varied notice gazetted on 3rd February, 1910, fixing the closing-hours of all such shops is hereby varied accordingly.

Bonus for the Production of Quicksilver.
Mines Department,
Wellington, 18th April, 1912.
NOTICE is hereby given that a bonus of fourpence (4d.) per pound will be paid on the production of the first one hundred thousand pounds weight (100,000 lb.) of good marketable retorted quicksilver, free from all impurities, from any mine in New Zealand, on the following conditions; that is to say:—

That at least one-third of the quantity is produced on or before the 31st March, 1914, and the remaining two-thirds on or before the 31st March, 1915.

No bonus will be payable until the whole of the one hundred thousand pounds (100,000 lb.) of quicksilver has been produced as stipulated to the satisfaction of an officer to be appointed by the Minister of Mines, and on whose certificate alone the bonus will be paid.

In the event of more than one person producing the required quantities of quicksilver before the dates named, inquiry will be made by the officer above referred to, when, if it is found that each applicant is equally entitled to a bonus, the amount will be divided in proportion to the quantities produced by each applicant, but in no case shall any bonus be paid until at least one hundred thousand pounds (100,000 lb.) of quicksilver has been produced in the aggregate.
