ping Act, 1894, of the Imperial Parliament, or any Act amending the same, be done by, to, or before a British consular officer is, in the Protectorates of the Solomon Islands and of the Gilbert and Ellice Islands, done by, to, or before an officer for the time being performing the duties of port officer, or which shall, under the provisions of the Act aforesaid, be done by, to, or before a Superintendent, is, in Ocean Island, done by, to, or before a Deputy Commissioner, there shall be paid in respect of that act the fee specified therefor in the said Schedule.

  1. All fees levied under this Regulation shall be accounted for by the officer levying the same to the Resident Commissioner for the Solomon Islands, or Gilbert and Ellice Islands, Protectorates as the case may be and, when so accounted for, shall form part of the revenue of the Protectorate in which they are levied.

Notice fixing Closing-hours of Booksellers’, Stationers’, and Fancy-goods Dealers’ Shops in the City of Wellington under the Shops and Offices Act.


WHEREAS a requisition in writing, signed by a majority of the occupiers of all shops carrying on the trade of booksellers, stationers, or fancy-goods dealers, combined and separately, in the City of Wellington, has been forwarded to me, desiring that all such shops within the city shall be closed in the evening of working-days as follows: 1 p.m. o’clock on the day of the statutory half-holiday, 11 p.m. o’clock on Saturdays, 8 p.m. o’clock on four days in the week; during the month of December the following hours to be observed—1 p.m. o’clock on the day of the statutory half-holiday, 11 p.m. o’clock on Saturdays, 10 p.m. o’clock on four days in the week, 11.30 p.m. o’clock on the evening preceding Christmas Day and New Year’s Day or day defined as Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve when Christmas Day falls on Monday: And whereas the Wellington City Council has certified that the signatures to such requisition represent a majority of the occupiers of all the booksellers’, stationers’, or fancy-goods’ shops, combined and separately, within the City of Wellington:

Now, therefore, I, George Laurensen, Minister of Labour, in pursuance of section 25 of the Shops and Offices Act, 1908, do hereby direct that, from and after the 6th day of May, 1912, all such shops in the City of Wellington shall be closed in accordance with such requisition.

Dated at Wellington, this 1st day of May, 1912.

Notice fixing Closing-hours of Chemists’ and Druggists’ Shops in the Borough of Lyttelton under the Shops and Offices Act.


WHEREAS a requisition in writing, signed by a majority of the occupiers of all the chemists’ and druggists’ shops in the Borough of Lyttelton, has been forwarded to me, desiring that all such shops shall be closed in the evenings of working-days as follows: On Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays, 8 o’clock p.m.; on Saturdays, 9.30 o’clock p.m.: And whereas the Lyttelton Borough Council has certified that the signatures to such requisition represent a majority of the occupiers of all the chemists’ and druggists’ shops within the Borough of Lyttelton:

Now, therefore, I, George Laurensen, Minister of Labour, in pursuance of section 25 of the Shops and Offices Act, 1908, do hereby direct that, from and after the 6th day of May, 1912, all such shops in the Borough of Lyttelton shall be closed in accordance with such requisition, except on Thursdays (the statutory half-holiday), when such shops shall be closed at 1 p.m., and may reopen from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., but only for the supply of medicines and surgical appliances.

Varied Notice fixing Closing-hours of all Shops in the Borough of Mosgiel under the Shops and Offices Act.


WHEREAS a requisition in writing, signed by a majority of the occupiers of all the shops in the Borough of Mosgiel, has been forwarded to me, desiring that all shops shall be closed in the evening of working-days as follows: Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, 6 p.m.; Thursdays, 1 p.m.; and Saturdays, 9 p.m.; when a holiday falls on Saturday, on the preceding Friday at 9 p.m.: And whereas the Mosgiel Borough Council has certified that the signatures to such requisition represent a majority of the occupiers of all the shops within the Borough of Mosgiel:

Now, therefore, I, George Laurensen, Minister of Labour, in pursuance of section 25 of the Shops and Offices Act, 1908, do hereby direct that, from and after the 6th day of May, 1912, all shops in the Borough of Mosgiel shall be closed in accordance with such requisition.

The notice gazetted on 27th July, 1905, fixing the closing-hours of all shops, with exceptions, is hereby varied accordingly.

Rates and Charges for Water from Kumara Water-race.


IN pursuance of the provisions of section 253 of the Public Works Act, 1908, I, James Colvin, Minister of Mines, acting for and on behalf of the Minister of Public Works, do hereby make the following regulation prescribing the rates and charges to be paid for water supplied from the extension of the Kumara Water-race.


REGULATION.

From and after the 13th day of April, 1912, the price of water supplied from the extension of the Kumara Water-race will be 6d. per sluice-head of water per hour.
