Date of Election to fill Extraordinary Vacancy in Feilding and Palmerston North Fire Boards by Insurance Companies.

Wellington, 4th April, 1912.
PURSUANT to the Fire Brigades Act, 1908, and the rules made thereunder, I, George Warren Russell, Minister of Internal Affairs, being the Minister charged with the administration of the said Act, do hereby appoint Saturday, the 13th day of April, 1912, to be the day for holding an election of one member of the Feilding Fire Board and of the Palmerston North Fire Board by the insurance companies concerned, such election being held to fill the extraordinary vacancy caused by the resignation of Richard Middleton Simpson as a member of the said Fire Boards.

THE following notice, received from the Mayor of the Borough of Invercargill, is published in accordance with the provisions of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1908.

BOROUGH OF INVERCARGILL.
In the matter of a special loan of £31,000 proposed to be raised by the Council of the Borough of Invercargill, under the Municipal Corporations Act, 1908, and the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1908, and the amendments thereof.
I HEREBY give notice that on the 29th day of March, 1912, a proposal was submitted by the above-mentioned Council to the ratepayers of the Borough of Invercargill for raising a special loan of £31,000 for the purpose of acquiring material for and construction and laying of sanitary works, sewers, and pipes, with all necessary machinery and plant, for the benefit of that part of the Borough of Invercargill bounded on the north by Gala Street, on the east by Deveron Street, on the south by Forth Street, and on the west by the New River Estuary; and that the number of votes recorded respectively for and against the proposal was as follows: For the proposal, 123; against the proposal, 35.
And I declare the said proposal to be carried.

At a poll taken on the 2nd April instant on the proposal to raise a loan of £500 for asphalting and kerbing 120 chains, more or less, in the Pleasant Point District, the result is as under:—

As the majority in favour of the proposal is more than three-fifths of the valid votes recorded, I hereby declare the proposal duly carried.

Notice of Result of Poll on Proposal to raise a Loan.
PURSUANT to section 13 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1908, I hereby give notice that a poll of the ratepayers of the Otorohanga Native Township was taken on the 4th day of April, 1912, on the proposal of the inhabitants of the Otorohanga Native Township (known as the Otorohanga Native Township Council) to borrow the sum of £2,050 for the following purpose—to raise a special loan of £2,050 for the permanent formation, metalling, and improvement of the streets, road, and footpaths in the Township of Otorohanga; such sum to be allocated to the streets, roads, and footpaths as follows: Tuhoro Street, £195; Maniapoto Street, £500; Kanfurlv Street, £60; Balance Street, £70; Kanawa Street, £230; Turonga Street, £125; Hinewai Street, £70; Haerehuku Street, £170; Te Kawa Street, £186; Kakamutu Road, £90; Kahiri Street, £14; Waipa Esplanade, £50; Rangatahi Street, £80; Mair Street, £79; Pango Street, £25; Rangipare Street, £25; Mataroa Street, £10; Orahivi Terrace, £25; Puha Street, £16; Pine Street, £10; Tutunui Street, £10; Blank Street, £10. And to pay out of the said loan the cost of raising the loan and the interest for the first year.
The number of votes recorded for the proposal was 44. The number of votes recorded against the proposal was nil. I therefore declare that the proposal was carried.

Superintendent of Mercantile Marine at Dunedin, has been appointed the person to issue licenses under the regulations of the eighth day of March, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-nine, for the towage of boats carrying passengers on the Taieri River.

Spencer Gulf.—Cape Burr.
MASTERS of vessels and others are hereby informed that an uncharted rock of small extent, and having over it about 5 ft. at low-water springs, has been reported to exist about half a mile south of Cape Burr and a quarter of a mile off the shore.
Until a more accurate survey of the locality has been made masters of vessels are cautioned against approaching within half a mile of the shore immediately to the southwards of the cape.
Approximate position: Lat. 34° 8′ S., long. 136° 41½′ E.
This affects Admiralty Chart No. 2389B.
