Withdrawing Land from the Operation of the Kauri-gum Industry Acts.
ISLINGTON, Governor.
ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government Buildings, at Wellington, this twenty-third day of March, 1912.

PRESIDING IN COUNCIL.
WHEREAS by section thirty-three of the Kauri-gum Industry Act, 1908 (hereinafter termed “the said Act”), it is enacted that the Governor may by Order in Council declare that land set apart under the said Act as a kauri-gum reserve, and which is no longer required for the purpose of gum-digging, shall be no longer subject to the said Act, and thereupon the land shall cease to be a kauri-gum reserve, and shall be dealt with by the Land Board as ordinary Crown land; provided that such Order in Council shall only be issued in pursuance of a resolution of the Land Board, supported by such independent evidence as the Governor in Council deems necessary:
And whereas the Land Board of the Auckland Land District passed a resolution recommending that the portion of Otaika Kauri-gum Reserve Extension No. 2 described in the Schedule hereto be declared to be no longer subject to the said Act, and such resolution was duly gazetted and publicly notified in accordance with section nine of the Kauri-gum Industry Amendment Act, 1910: And whereas no objection has been received to the said proposal:
Now, therefore, I, John Poynder Dickson Poynder, Baron Islington, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the power and authority conferred upon me by section thirty-three of the Kauri-gum Industry Act, 1908, and section nine of the Kauri-gum Industry Amendment Act, 1910, and acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, do hereby order and declare that the portion of Otaika Kauri-gum Reserve Extension No. 2 described in the Schedule hereto shall be no longer subject to the provisions of the Acts aforesaid.
SCHEDULE.
All that area in the Auckland Land District, containing by admeasurement 2 acres, more or less, being part of Otaika Kauri-gum Reserve Extension No. 2, situated in Block IV, Tangihua Survey District, set apart by Order in Council dated 25th September, 1899, and published in the New Zealand Gazette of 28th September, 1899, page 1836. Bounded towards the north-east by the Otaika Kauri-gum Reserve Extension No. 2, 294'6 links; towards the south-east by a public road, 88'4 and 551'1 links; and towards the south-west and north-west by the Otaika Kauri-gum Reserve Extension No. 2 aforesaid, 324'1 and 694'4 links: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less: as the same is delineated on the plan marked L. 1911/1679, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands, at Wellington, and thereon edged red. The Education Act, 1908.—Amending Regulations for Examination and Classification of Teachers.

PRESIDING IN COUNCIL.
IN exercise and pursuance of the powers and authorities vested in him by the Education Act, 1908, His Excellency the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby amend in the manner set forth in the Schedule hereto the Regulations for the Examination and Classification of Teachers, dated the thirteenth day of February, one thousand nine hundred and twelve, and published in the New Zealand Gazette of the sixteenth day of the same month, and with the like advice and consent doth prescribe that this Order shall come into force on the date of the first publication thereof in the New Zealand Gazette.
SCHEDULE.
NOTWITHSTANDING anything to the contrary in the regulations hereinbefore referred to, candidates for teachers’ certificates at the first examination held after the commencement of the said regulations may, at their option, be examined either in accordance with those regulations or with the regulations in force immediately prior to the commencement thereof: Provided that candidates for certificates of Class D or of Class C who elect to be examined under the earlier regulations may receive credit for part of the examination in the manner prescribed by clauses 24, 26, and 38 of the regulations dated 13th of February, 1912: Provided also that certificates of practical work in science shall not be required in connection with any examination held before the 1st day of June, 1913, except in so far as such certificates are required by the regulations in force immediately prior to the commencement of the last-mentioned regulations.

WHEREAS subsection one of section fifty of the Native Land Act, 1909, enacts that at any time and from time to time, on application made ex parte or otherwise by any person interested, the Chief Judge may, if he thinks fit, on being satisfied that the applicant has shown a prima facie case of error, whether of fact or law, in any final order of the Native Land Court, grant leave to the applicant to appeal to the Appellate Court against that order, notwithstanding the fact that, owing to lapse of time or for any other reason, the applicant has no appeal as of right to that Court :
