of Section 226; thence by the south-western sides of Sections 227, 228, and 229, and 2506, and by the north-east side of the latter section and the same side produced to the left bank of the Turnbull River; thence by said left bank upwards to the boundary of Run 46, and thence generally south-westerly to the boundary of Run 24, and thence along boundary of latter run to Trig. SS, the starting-point: saving and excepting all mining and other rights and privileges within or adjacent to the said area.
Run No. 24, Waiatoto River.—All that parcel of land in the Westland Land District, containing by estimation 10,000 acres of Crown land, situated in Arawata and Turnbull Survey Districts, and bounded as follows: Starting at the northernmost corner of Run 448, and running thence in a northerly direction for about 40 chains down a creek flowing towards L. Nisson; turning E.N.E. from said creek direct to Trig. SS, a distance of about 190 chains; thence bounded by the southern boundary of Run 96 up to the western boundary of Run 46, and thence by the western boundary of latter run up to Run 95; thence by the northern and western boundaries of latter run, crossing the Axis River 120 chains above its confluence with the Waiatoto River, and so to the south-west corner of said run; thence skirting the western flanks of Fette’s Range along a winding line about 20 chains below the bush-line to the north-east corner of Run 476; thence along the northern boundary of the latter run directly across the Waiatoto River, a distance of 180 chains, to a point about 20 chains below the bush-line being the north-west corner of last-named run; thence in a generally north-easterly direction by winding lines 20 chains below the bush-line to the south-east corner of Run 448; thence by the eastern and northern boundaries of said run to its northernmost corner, the starting-point: saving and excepting all mining and other rights and privileges within or adjacent to the said area.
Run No. 103, Mount Graham Run.—All that parcel of land in the Westland Land District, containing by estimation 3,250 acres of national endowment land, situated in Kanieri Survey District, and bounded as follows: Starting at a point on the western boundary of Scenic Reserve 1177, at which the prolongation of the south side of White Road intersects said boundary; proceeding thence along the boundary aforesaid of Scenic Reserve 1177 direct to Mount Graham Trig-station, and thence by a direct line to the north-east corner of Section 988, in Block XV, Kanieri Survey District; thence westerly along the north side of Sections 988, 987, and 2775, and by the western side of the latter section to the right bank of the Hokitika River, and thence descending that river by said right bank and proceeding in a direction generally north-westerly along Sections 2103 and 1939 to Duck Creek; thence by the northern side of a public road bordering the northern side of said creek to the eastern side of Section 1651; thence along said eastern side to its north-east corner; thence by a right line to the north-east corner of Section 568; thence along north boundary of said section; thence by the eastern side of a public road which bounds Section 2316 up to the prolongation of the southern side of White Road; thence generally E.S.E. along such prolongation to the starting-point: saving and excepting always all mining and other rights and privileges within, adjacent to, or affected by the said area.
Run No. 14, Hope River.—All that parcel of land in the Westland Land District, containing by estimation 10,000 acres of Crown land, situated in Barn Bay, Cascade, and Macfarlane Survey Districts, and bounded as follows: Starting at the mouth of Hope River on its south side, and thence proceeding generally southwards along the western watershed of the basin of that river, a distance of about seven miles, to the watershed the basin of Gorge River; thence generally eastward along the latter watershed, about three miles, to Mount Theta; thence following the watershed of the basin of Hope River in a generally north-east direction, about five miles, to Mount Delta; thence generally north-west along the said watershed, striking right bank of Hope River, about a mile and a half inland, and thence by said bank to mouth of river on north side; thence directly across mouth to starting-point on south side: saving and excepting all mining and other rights and privileges within, adjacent to, and affected by the said area.
Run No. 17, Waikukupa River.—All that parcel of land in the Westland Land District, containing by estimation 9,000 acres, being 7,180 acres of national endowment land and 1,820 acres of Crown land, situated in Waiho and Mount Cook Survey Districts, and bounded as follows: Starting at the southernmost corner of Section 2807, and running thence along its south-east boundary to the watershed of the Waikukupa Basin; thence following said watershed generally south-easterly to the main South Road, and thence generally southwards for about two miles along the said watershed; and then proceeding by the main leading-spur across Waikukupa River, and onwards about 30 chains south of that river, then turning westward running about 100 chains to the main branch of Clearwater River; thence generally northwards by the main leading-spur up to the western watershed of Waikukupa Basin; thence onwards to Cook Saddle to Trig. LL, and by the said watershed to the south boundary of Section 2808; thence eastwards by the said south boundary and its prolongation to the left bank of Waikukupa River; thence downwards by said left bank to a point in line with the south-easterly boundary of Section 2807; and thence directly across the aforesaid river and onwards to the southernmost corner of said section to the starting-point: saving and excepting all mining rights and privileges within or adjacent to the said area, and saving also all roads intersecting the said area.
Run No. 15, Waiho and Atupau Rivers.—All those two several parcels of land in the Westland Land District, containing altogether 5,000 acres—namely, 4,350 acres of national endowment land and 650 acres of Crown land—situated in Waiho Survey District, bounded as follows, namely: (1) Starting at the north-eastern corner of Section 2796, and running thence north-easterly in prolongation of the south-east boundary of said section to the left bank of Atupau River, and thence proceeding upwards by said left bank to the northern boundary of Section 1304, and thence by said north boundary to the north-east corner, and thence eastwards about 20 chains across the arm connecting Waiho and Atupau Rivers; thence upwards by the left bank of Atupau River to the northern boundary of Miscellaneous License No. 844, and thence running along said north boundary and its prolongation about 60 chains in all to Company’s Creek, and thence down said creek to the southern boundary of Run 440, and thence by said boundary to the westernmost corner of said run on the right bank of Waiho River; thence down said right bank about 220 chains, thence south-westerly about 20 chains to the middle of the present bed of Waiho River, thence about 60 chains over the river-bed to the north-west corner of Section 1376; thence all along its north-east side and along its south-east side for about 15 chains; thence upwards running about south-east along the south-west side of the river-bed islands for about 50 chains; thence generally E.N.E. about 60 chains across the Waiho River to the point of the Big Island; thence upstream along the western bank of the island to a point in line with the south-eastern side of Section 2796; thence directly to the southernmost corner of said section and along its aforesaid side to its north-east corner, the starting-point. And again (2) starting at the south-west corner of Section 2192, and thence proceeding eastwards along the south boundary of Sections 2192, 2191, and said boundary prolonged eastwards for about 46 chains; thence north-easterly about 24 chains; thence south-easterly about 124 chains; thence W.S.W. about 188 chains across Atupau River to its left bank, thence downwards by said bank about 120 chains to the eastern boundary of Miscellaneous Lease No. 844, thence along said east boundary, and thence direct to the south-west corner of Section 2192, the starting-point: saving and excepting all roads included within the said boundaries, and saving also all mining and other rights and privileges within or adjacent to the said area.
Run 26, Manakaiawa River.—All those three several pieces of national endowment land, containing altogether about 9,260 acres, situated in the Land District of Westland, and within the Survey Districts of Bruce Bay and Karangarua, comprising generally certain flats and swamps between Hunts Beach and the main South Road, together with certain lands along Black, Grey, and Red Creeks, tributaries of Hunts Creek, and also certain lands in the upper valley of the Manakaiawa River, being the area heretofore known as Run 26, together with other Crown lands hereby conjoined thereto and now called unitedly Run 26, and bounded as follows: Starting at the north-east corner of Section 640, in Block VII, Bruce Bay Survey District, proceeding westerly along the north boundary of said section and its prolongation to the high-water mark of Tasman Sea; thence along the sea-shore to a point in line with the south-western boundary of Reserve No. 334; thence direct to the south-west corner of said reserve and along said boundary to its south-east corner; thence in a general south-easterly direction along the boundary of Run 18 to a point on the north boundary of main South Road opposite to the middle of the north boundary of Section 898; thence along the north side of main South Road, and along the east and north sides of the roads that bound the east and north sides of Sections 894, 893, and 892, up to the starting-point. And again starting at the road-angle opposite to the south-west corner of Section 895, Block VIII, Bruce Bay Survey District, and proceeding northward along the western boundary of the road and continuing westward up to the east side of the main South Road; and thence continuing along said east side to the north-west corner of Section 3032, and proceeding thence in a general easterly direction along the north boundary of said section as the same shall hereafter be defined by survey, to the starting-
