Opening Settlement Lands in Canterbury Land District for Selection.


ISLINGTON, Governor.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the Land Act, 1908, and the Land for Settlements Act, 1908, I, John Poynder Dickson-Poynder, Baron Islington, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby declare that the settlement lands described in the Schedule hereto shall be open for selection on renewable lease on Tuesday, the fifth day of December, one thousand nine hundred and eleven, at the rentals mentioned in the said Schedule; and I do also declare that the said lands shall be leased under and subject to the provisions of the said Acts.

Situated on Springs Road, about one mile from Hornby Railway-station and six miles from Christchurch. Level land of excellent quality. The improvements which are included in the price of the section consist of 10¾ chains of boundary-fencing, valued at £4 15s.

PAPARUA COUNTY.—ROLLESTON SURVEY DISTRICT.—DRAYTON SETTLEMENT.

Situated about one mile and three-quarters north-westward from Templeton Railway-station, which is nine miles from Christchurch, on the Christchurch-Dunedin Main Trunk Railway line. Open level land, good light soil. The improvements which are included in the price of the section consist of 186½ chains of boundary and subdivisional fencing, valued at £78 14s.

Weighted with £6 10s., being half value of 20 chains of boundary-fencing, which amount must be paid by the successful applicant before being admitted to possession of the land.

Situated on the eastern side of the Christchurch-Dunedin Main Trunk Railway line, about half a mile to a mile northward from Washdyke Junction Railway-station, and about four miles northward from the business portion of the Town of Timaru. Flat agricultural land of good quality, on subsoil of clay and gravel. The improvements which are included in the prices of the sections are as follows: Section 2—half value of 23½ chains of boundary-fencing, £8 16s. 3d.; Section 14—whole value of 7½ chains of boundary-fencing and half value of 25 chains of boundary-fencing, £14 2s. 6d. The selector of Section 2 will be liable for half value of boundary-fencing erected by the adjoining lessee.

WAIMATE COUNTY.—ELEPHANT HILL SURVEY DISTRICT.—DOUGLAS SETTLEMENT.

Situated about four miles from Waihao Downs Railway-station and twelve miles and a half from Waimate. Almost level agricultural land, of first-class quality. The improvements which are included in the prices of the sections are as follows: Section 9—4 chains of boundary-fencing, £2; Section 12—5 chains of boundary-fencing, £2 10s.

Opening National Endowment Land in Auckland Land District for Selection.

Sandy soil of fair quality, on sandstone formation; indifferently watered by swamps. Situated about eight miles from Papamoa Post-office—two miles formed dray-road, six miles dray-road along beach.

Land set apart as a Site for a Police-station in the Canterbury Land District.


ISLINGTON, Governor.

IN pursuance and exercise of the power conferred by section ninety-four of the Reserves and other Lands Disposal and Public Bodies Empowering Act, 1910, I, John Poynder Dickson-Poynder, Baron Islington, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby reserve the land described in the Schedule hereto as a site for a police-station.


SCHEDULE.

ALL that piece or parcel of land, containing by admeasurement 2 roods 10·9 perches, being portion of Rural Section 203, shown on the map in the office of the Chief Surveyor of the Canterbury Land District, the boundary of such land commencing at a point within the said Rural Section 203, the said point being on the north-west boundary of the land in certificate of title, Vol. 241, folio 24, 74·3 links distant from the westernmost corner thereof; thence extending north-easterly along the said boundary and the north-west boundary of the land in certificate of title, Vol. 153, folio 247, for a distance of 418·75 links; thence north-westerly along a line, bearing 305° 54′, for a distance of 200·8 links; thence south-westerly along a line, bearing 215° 35′, for a distance of 147·15 links; thence southerly along a line, bearing 179° 17′ 30″, for a distance of 338·45 links, to the commencing-point: be all the aforesaid dimensions a little more or less: as the same is more particularly delineated and coloured green in outline on a plan marked W.R. 18178, deposited in the office of the Minister of Railways, at Wellington, in the Provincial District of Wellington.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this nineteenth day of October, one thousand nine hundred and eleven.
